Nope, I chose not to buy it in favor of the ZT. I just was lucky it went on sale after the ZS. The ZT reviewed much better, was a JohnnyGuru best buy...

why is this PSU good???

Need 1300 W Silent Hybrid Pro Cooler Master?
929  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Random Shut Down? Need more power? on: February 11, 2012, 03:07:21 AM
Are you using pci-e ribbon cable extenders? You might have bad cables. I had random restarts for a few months, always thought it was a power problem, but it wasnt. I got rid of them and plugged them directly into the board and wala, no more restarts. I'm going to have to find higher quality cables.
'

nope directly plugged into mobo

That is, in a word, awesome!

My offer or my cluster?

How much gh/sec are you getting?

From 80 gpu's 30.68 ghash/sec @ 13,548 watts ....
what's your electricity bill like?

open up note pad and copy paste this in and make sure you edit the stuff out

cd C:\Users\NAMEOFYOURCOOMPUTER\Desktop\cgminer-2.2.3-win32

start /affinity 0x2 cgminer -o pit.deepbit.net:8332 -u ACCOUNT -p PASSWORD  -v 2 -w 256 -g 4 -k phatk -I 1 --gpu-memclock 300 --temp-target 65 --auto-fan

and make sure you SAVE AS .bat file

then run it

Oh god it made me puke in my mouth a little to see that horrible string of command line arguments & windows batch files when cgminer has such an easy to configure config file.  Smiley

It would be like putting a cargo topper on the roof of a ferrari.

who cares if it works!
932  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Help with CGminer and 5870's.....2 BTC bounty on: February 10, 2012, 09:04:44 PM

Settings for CGMiner:

-v 2 -w 256 -g 4 -k phatk -I 8 --gpu-memclock 300 --temp-target 65 --auto-fan

Where do I input these?  Specifically the -v 2 -w 256?

This is what I was looking for in the first place.....

open up note pad and copy paste this in and make sure you edit the stuff out

cd C:\Users\NAMEOFYOURCOOMPUTER\Desktop\cgminer-2.2.3-win32

start /affinity 0x2 cgminer -o pit.deepbit.net:8332 -u ACCOUNT -p PASSWORD  -v 2 -w 256 -g 4 -k phatk -I 1 --gpu-memclock 300 --temp-target 65 --auto-fan

and make sure you SAVE AS .bat file

then run it

Hey man,

Use these to perfect your 5870. I currently have it at 900 mhz @ 420 mh/s with these settings. I can get higher than 450 easy if I up the clock.

Before you install these make sure you wipe out all of the other AMD / Nvidia Drivers with Driver Sweeper: http://majorgeeks.com/Driver_Sweeper_d6171.html

Run it from Safe Mode on Windows 7.

Download and install SDK 2.1 - win 7 64bit http://download2-developer.amd.com/amd/Stream20GA/ati-stream-sdk-v2.1-vista-win7-64.exe
Download and install Catalyst 11.6 - win 7 64bit http://downloads.guru3d.com/AMD-Catalyst-11.6-Win-7-%7C-Vista-64-bit-download-2734.html#download

Settings for CGMiner:

-v 2 -w 256 -g 4 -k phatk -I 8 --gpu-memclock 300 --temp-target 65 --auto-fan

open up note pad and copy paste this in and make sure you edit the stuff out

cd C:\Users\NAMEOFYOURCOOMPUTER\Desktop\cgminer-2.2.3-win32

I hope this helps and I get that 2BTC Tongue
935  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: how to keep 4 close by graphics cards cool? on: February 10, 2012, 04:22:29 AM
I actually use the XF bridge to make the cards even if that make sense O.o
936  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: how to keep 4 close by graphics cards cool? on: February 09, 2012, 10:04:22 PM
Get rid of those crossfire cables and wedge the cards apart with cardboard or similar material.
Or, get a thin piece of steel and drill holes along it and use small nuts & bolts to space the cards apart using the default fixing holes in the gpus (That's what I do)

Some people will tell you it damages the pcie slot on the mobo but I have been running mine for a good 6+ months and no problems at all.

why do I need to get rid of crossfire cables?
937  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: can you mix n match? on: February 09, 2012, 07:14:28 AM
Yup for example I was running 7970 and 5970 and getting 1200 mh/s

and now just 5870 / 5970 and still getting 1200 mh/s

OEM headphones... seems legit.

what is likely to happen:
he dropships you a $10 headphone from a hongkong warehouse.

939  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Any help? - 5970 not hitting ~700 mhash/s on: February 09, 2012, 04:54:44 AM
you need to use CGminer and not GUIminer ;p

install SDK 2.1 and catalyst 11.10
940  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: how to keep 4 close by graphics cards cool? on: February 09, 2012, 04:41:34 AM
I need help cooling my 6870s

They are running in the upper high 70 degrees (77-80s C)

This is an open case rig with CM Storm Trooper.

Also keep in mind that this is COLD air being blown into the cards from outside ... I don't know why they're still hot. Autofan with CGMiner 85% fan speed

Here are some pics:

I have two 12cm 110cfm Coolermaster fans in front of them. The fans are held in place with cable ties. The fans are on top of each other - the bottom fan cools the two graphics cards at the bottom and the top fan cools the two graphics cards at the bottom. Works for me. But don't waste your time with 70cfm fans or something puny like that. Make sure they have in excess of 100cfm, each.

I have 130cfm scythe kazes I can use. but my case is standing up and not laying down. how can I use those fans? zip tie them to the cards?
