Twitter (now called X).

Every time I see this I think its a mistake, their corporate value is partly contained inside that brand name.  Literally they created a new verb, their brand name became part of the English language and yet its discarded as though worthless.
Why could they not have X and Twitter and use both at same time, I see no problem with that.  Really a move disliked by the majority of people imo and quite pointless.

advertisers are coming back

I would imagine that is true.  Doesnt have to be that this website is run perfectly for companies to want their adverts to appear on the site and its traffic of quite mainstream people, various demographics etc.   Advertising is a global marketplace, before Bitcoin came to be it was said advertising is the lifeblood of the internet because it provided revenue to sites that would have none otherwise and created content and the paid the people for it basically.  Its quite true, its a positive and also an ongoing demand companies want to pay twitter or X because it has the traffic, simple as that nobody has to conclude they like Elon Musk but I see adverts on all kinds of iffy websites and X is no worse then them.

If you can type faster then 50 wpm and I know people well over 100 wpm then you need to register your hands as weapons, you might be posting past the speed limit and people don't appreciate.   I'm definitely on your side philipma1957 as I could do 50wpm before I was 10, it was required for early computer use, coding so I self learnt.
Now I have to be aware not everyone can type that fast and it could be seen as a negative, I definitely try to go back and check I wrote in a readable way hopefully but the onus is on the writer pretty much.   I have 17k posts elsewhere believe it or not so I actually post far less then I could most of the time, I got sympathy for anyone who can type very fast anyhow Smiley

I also noticed some terms in a sig campaign, the moderator or operator of that campaign Royce was offering  a bounty on AI posts. :
Quote
▶️ If I find campaign members breaching these terms, I will remove them from the campaign immediately.
▶️ If you find AI-written posts for this campaign and report them to me publicly or via PM, you will receive the weekly payment instead of the accused campaigner (if your report was successful). Please include as much evidence as possible when submitting a report.

I thought it was worth mentioning and seems very generous to me but please do not just spam him (that'd be ironic Tongue), be very certain before accusing anyone on this forum and have defined proof to give.
943  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: October 07, 2023, 06:58:22 PM
There are sites which will reduce image size for you, try a change in format as some are bulky.   Even Mspaint might help in this regard but I have another forum that requires 20kb max and I often made this mistake as you cant be sure till its online.   Imgur will reduce sizes sometimes not sure where they limit.

Copy and paste can accidentally increase the image size back as its then raw data ?   might be part of why.

The other factor is actual display of the size as data itself, some displays are inaccurate and use a flat 1000 instead of actual binary to the power of 2.
944  Economy / Gambling / Re: Halvening 2024, dont short/sell a dull market on: October 07, 2023, 06:36:55 PM
Seems fair to hold though nothing is ever certain its your decision, in comparison to my past experience just as a rough guess I would place 2023 BTC as similar kind of feel and pattern placement to the 2016 type action and I sold some BTC in 2016 and regretted it.   We had a rise and pullback and that might have been all there was just concerning yourself with near or even medium term.   It wasnt till early 2017 I figured on more occurring, a lesson I have tried not to forget since has been the lowest prices were the bedrock of that years later rise.
I dont know we are to have 2017 type rise next year, that expectation might be a bit much but our current drift and often sideways action is quite familiar and I refuse to look on it as negative in either a major or minor extent.

On the 1% comment I agree, very rare to be that lucky but never say never.   I got the top tier BTC spin reward yesterday so wont complain.
945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Before you take sides on: October 07, 2023, 05:53:06 AM
Should also look to do the opposite, its a common phenomena on the internet that people are very vocal about any negatives but fail or forget to praise the common positive experience with any casino.  Especially long term, people take it for granted when a site is solid and reliable etc.  which is definitely worth praise.
The good sites will make a profit off just operating a long term gambling site, gambling is a profitable enterprise so a good reputation is important and regular traffic because that definitely leads to profits with that body of regular users.   It should be outside the norm for players not to be respected who are wanting to play normally.
946  Economy / Economics / Re: What US can do with its dept? Genuine question. on: October 06, 2023, 11:55:54 PM
There is a solution but its boring and requires a budget surplus, hard work to repay debt and how will you win an election without giving away tax breaks and other things in the run up the vote.  Its just not going to happen unfortunately, what will occur is loose money and repayment via inflationary loses to the capital value of the debt.  Thats really more damaging because inflation causes harm to the economic prospects of especially small business and business people.
I have a few dramatic ideas but again would not be popular, its feasible for USA to use only natural gas for its energy.   The main challenge with natural gas is its a much more bulky energy then oil or coal.   If they use natural gas, the oil can be exported creating the value to repay the debt with a surplus trade balance and also revenue just run to service the debt repayment.   Theres enough gas in the ground to provide all USA energy usage for over half a century, excluding anything like hydro and other new forms of power.
Current oil policy has been to use up the strategic reserves so I think we're going in the wrong direction as far as being rid of the control oil has on an economy and its costs etc.

947  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Up Move Incoming on: October 06, 2023, 11:32:35 PM
The flag formation from that chart could be taken as bullish.   However its safer to wait for the break and the move up from that flag, not every pattern completes as per the handbook the world just isnt nice and neat like that.    We are in a little box and we can take the negative or positive from leaving either side of that box as a indicator of wider picture:

The 50 day average did just turn positive in the last few days, a nice match to the hopes and dreams in this pattern.  I do think actual action tends to be messy, a bit muddy but I agree after a downtrend we are due some bigger rise.  I dont yet think its the greater move many are waiting for.
948  Economy / Economics / Re: Food security in the world has been shaken by Russia's actions on: October 06, 2023, 04:52:36 PM
Putins war reminds me of Sadams invasion of Kuwait for a seemingly easy victory and also the Iran Iraq war which filled the sea with mines also making it dangerous for all.  Russian supplied weapons and supported militia have already shot down a neutral passenger plane and similar failures have occurred in the middle east because of the ongoing tensions and violence causing the deaths of those without link to that fight.
There is no gain for either side in each battle only an exchange of losses with the chaos of death for anyone nearby also.  Russia I believe will be careful with the African nations not to upset those possible allies and upset the whole world with an aimless war thats already lost Russia much on every front.
EU markets are impacted by the lack of transport by water meaning grain is far in excess supply by land to any nearby nation.  As Ukraine is wanting to join EU Im sure they will try to avoid upsetting that market but its also a natural effect of an inability to supply their normal global markets.  Many other negative effects as well as that, trucks cannot replace the massive cargo ships anyhow.

My take earlier in this year for BTC in general was we had at least a year plus to develop.  So I relate that to the rough term or lock for FUN I should hold here and I went with a majority maxing out the interest return.   The price is more of a reinvestment type level then taking profits on gains also, so dont matter if it comes out of lock for now.  I wouldnt sell at this level, I dont think its a full price.

random time each day
That part in the FAQ would also be my guess for why the interest is variable is sometimes slightly backwards, despite there being a compound accumulative type effect that should only see higher returns.   A random time each day would mean unequal days though its going to average out, I can see why they'd not want to encourage exact timing.
950  Economy / Economics / Re: Fed on brink of fifth(?) round of quantitative easing on: October 06, 2023, 12:36:57 AM
The ironic thing is migrants might easily be more of a benefit then cost to an economy providing they are able to work and provide a supply of labor to successful business.  China now has a falling working population which has lost them an advantage they had previously.  Its messy perhaps because it should be known and trained labor entering am economy should be done properly but its not new.

The debt will be exponential because the worth of each dollar is becoming less.  Also alot of the money spent is not as effective in moving the economy as last time it was spent, the danger it ends up doing nothing at all and mostly over taxes business.   Inflation is a tax is a succinct fair statement imo
951  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - what are we expecting for the rest of 2023? on: October 05, 2023, 11:58:45 PM
Slow progress is my take for the rest of this year.   I could not call this negative action overall but we are taking steps backwards often, I still believe its a gain overall mostly as we recover and consolidate.   When we first progressed through these prices, they were all new and with no volume well thats not true anymore.  Many remember these prices and its well trodden now, there are for certain sellers those long term and many willing to sell now after fairly brief gains.
Its harder going now, so call it sideways but we are rising within that challenged heavy load overhead of BTC and its quite impressive the Dollar index recovered but BTC can carry on anyway it doesnt need to sell.
A simple observation to include would be both the 200 day average and also the much larger 200 week are both here with us right now.  Thats not a hard wall but it shows how much weight is with BTC trading in this area, hence slow and steady is a required gear to make it up this hill.
952  Economy / Economics / Re: A big win for crypto again on: October 05, 2023, 11:45:17 PM
Is this really an Economics thread? More like Politics...

You have summarized the fault immediately, politics has eclipsed economics and now we cannot easily separate the two as there is so much interference and obstruction.  It might be worse still in some countries but its unfortunate that it would also be true in USA that political favor wins success so often.
Positive or not I dont see a great advance globally will come from a person coming into office in one country, I wouldnt deny the significance in this time frame but I just think BTC is bigger then the duration of that particular tune playing now in a game of musical chairs.   I hope we find better things to be honest.
953  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Up Move Incoming on: October 04, 2023, 11:33:23 PM
Longest term trend I have is a channel and we're near the top of that channel right now which means I think we'd have to break out and out perform prior BTC action for the last year or so to do immediately better in the price.   That is possible but Im also looking at negative markets and wondering for the motivation on BTC doing better then that negative backdrop.   I wouldnt guess on stellar performance just yet,  I think if we stay in this area thats our positive move because often we lose gains so I would like to just retain them.
Draw a line in the sand at 27314 and if we keep above that level as our daily closing low, call it a positive market.  As for how well we do I dont know but I do think still quite a bit more neutral then people hope for.
954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: October 04, 2023, 05:51:15 PM
Wiki is useful for a recall of offical numbers and facts, I woudnt rely on it too much for things like politics except purely by referencing and storing links to other sources and articles.  For plain straight record of a timeline thats fine, I think thats all in its remit but politics is a lens which distorts everything it influences so its a given Wiki has bias just because people have bias in their views.   We cant even report GDP and inflation without some bias entering from how growth is viewed vs inflation.
Twitter or X which I think is a worse name but its recently got a bit better for forcing all users to submit to a information intervention on any views.   That kind of thing popped up during Covid when people started inventing that radio waves like 5G are a viral agent and other nonsense so its quite surprising Elon now encourages people to interact or interfere with views not in line with known sources.    If that was not possible at all before he should be commended for advancing the website quite considerably just from that one new feature, X would be more balanced in this regard then websites which suppress views of readers who disagree and can state firmly why OP is wrong etc.

Allowed is a hypothetical because Ive not noticed it being a mixing service any more then any site is, so far as I can remember they might pass on any details requested by authorities which if true would seem to say its not really best for mixing.   Depends if that not really is good enough for you, its not for me to say just my opinion but seems a funny question.     I didnt hear of limits mentioned, billions would be cool but I presume they've seen millions at some point because a million isnt alot to everyone especially transitory.

Bitcoin itself looks cool, higher low above a prior daily bar decline is good progression.   However the wider market itself has the jitters for a variety of reasons near and longer term factors, thats the problem of being big like BTC got its going to get knocked over in any run and Dollar is way above its weak test or even to signaling any ceiling so in inverse I cant be too confident but BTC does look nice for now.  I'll wait a little longer for this month to guess, for now I will set the bar as high as 29k to convince me especially.
956  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: October 03, 2023, 07:04:01 PM
Thanks for running this service, its very useful.   For me the main thing is convenience and ease of use, my usage is mostly just charts and I dont mind any reduction so long as the scale and text is legible on this forum at a normal size.
1024x1024 should be ok for me, I dont normally want to fill the page with an image unless it has the small text requiring that level of detail mostly its just the shape and pattern of the chart.    An option for people is a display image here but link to a full size large image, most wont click that link or require that detailed traffic use.
957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How was your first experience with gambling? on: October 02, 2023, 11:59:13 PM
First gambling I did alot was in school type setting vs other students.  That is ideal in some ways because if you dont win, friends will win so nobody loses in that sense.  The capital is recycled and nobody is taking a fee not the dealer or anyone as its just another player.   We ran the risk of censure since gambling in an academic building during lesson time is hardly in line with a educational policy but nobody seemed to notice we were actually putting down cash for wins etc.  It was never big money just fun stuff.  Ideal way to learn some card games so long as nobody takes it serious or tries to put down large bets and make it serious.
958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble till old age or not on: October 02, 2023, 10:56:14 PM
Gamble always, keeps you young imo.  If you arent playing something your brain will idle and fall off your head quite possibly.    People always confuse the game with throwing high stake money at the game to win, Im not suggesting you gamble food money but play for sure.   A ton of people play some kind of social gambling just for company and something to win or lose, never gamble outside of your leisure budget for that week and do actually always keep a budget so its fun not a pain when you lose money you needed.   Age doesnt limit fun imo.
Ive seen retired people gamble not just for themselves but host others, stream games even anything at all is your choice when you got more free time in old age.   Its a luxury people should take advantage of Smiley
959  Economy / Economics / Re: What could Elon Musk be buying next? on: October 02, 2023, 10:32:47 PM
From what I've read Elon should be buying electric infrastructure because the country will require this if his main plan of electric cars becomes a mainstream thing.  Instead of transporting fuel more electric will be required.
So solar wind, hydro power is all investments he should be making and all way more productive then a comms company or advertising however you view twitter.    The main advantage to this new tech is it can be local, a wind farm can generate power and supply cars out in the desert so they dont run out.   Thats feasible but it will require money spent and buildings built, time to do so and labor deployed.  All thats lacking at present.

everybody expects, so therefore it is likely to happen

This is the opposite of what I expect to be true in most cases.     If everyone expects something, we're all bullish ?   That sounds alot like we're all standing on one side of a rowing boat, a highly unstable situation leading to upset and confusion.   Doesnt have to be we are to sink but I expect far more that peoples patience and belief is tested and some will sell before we ever get to that ideal bull market cycle.
Clearly this year hasnt really been or is likely to be that bullish, but we're putting in work hammering the foundations in the rain however miserable that work its required imo.
BTC positive right now but its hit the 200 day average which is the most widely followed indicator.   Again you have that reverse magnetic polarity thing where we could shrink away from whats just a virtual line on a chart.    Main thing is the 200 DMA is rising and thats a positive.  [200 week also very close by serendipitously]
