941  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1.3 TH] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop, instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: November 22, 2013, 08:15:28 AM
hy to everyone,
I'm mining from 2 weeks with 10 asic erupters. I'm trying to collect some info about correct configuration about my hw and deepbit portal. Now as now I'm using RaspPi with MinePeon (for 8 asics) and an old Epia pc (for 2 asics).

Some things I'm not understand clearly...
Is there a logical reason when it is convenient to use Proportional or PPS? It may be influenced about how many Ghs I use?

A reason for this question is about last automatic transaction. Now I'm using PPS and last transaction is not recognised by the network. Is there a reason? The link reported on DeepBit is  https://blockexplorer.com/tx/5ac6d1a49cd8ad0dc1251659336df6553f290342f4d52725e18cd58c942f6911 in data 18-11-2013.
Is there someone with technical info that may explain me where is the problem? I don't think a Ddos may be the cause... Is my opinion right?

Thank you for your patience.

I'm waiting 2 blade 10Ghs...

marcobit

I guess a DDoS could be a problem in that it'd cause deepbit hashrate to drop even more.

I don't think they include proper fees for their transactions, which causes other nodes to reject?

So you have to wait for deepbit to get a block
942  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 50 Block Erupters with 49 port hub on: November 22, 2013, 08:08:56 AM
why not price it in USD or euro?  bitcoin price fluctuating by several hundred dollars a day doesnt really lend itself to being used as a currency
943  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS 5 Avalon ASIC bitcoin miners with total of 340GH/sec on: November 22, 2013, 07:59:38 AM
Well, I've got a buddy that works at Paypal & he's told me before that he'd never sell anything on eBay...

Even sending stuff w/ signature required isn't proof enough to defeat a well-thought out chargeback attempt

I asked him if I could take a video of the entire process, of showing that the item worked, packaging it up, taking it to UPS, and then having them ship it out.... and Paypal doesn't take video evidence, hoho.

Anyone can chargeback on basis of not receiving the item they paid for, regardless of whether or not you required signature.  In a case like this, I suppose paypal will 'make' them send it back to you, but maybe after 2 or 3 weeks and it's worth a lot less?

(most people probably don't even realize how easy it is to still win chargebacks even w/ adult signature required)    if, say, you use a bank debit card, you could also go to your bank and chargeback like that, saying it was fraudulently used.  if it's not something you've made a habit of, they'll reverse it immediately.   re:  I've had to do one bank chargeback and I've had the same bank for about 8 years now..  so they processed it w/ essentially no questions asked.. oh.. when that happens, paypal takes it back from you also

944  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [SOLD] BFL SC ASIC (56 GH/s) on: November 22, 2013, 07:54:54 AM
Sold. thanks

care to tell us what you got for it?

if it actually was sold, my guess would be something around $1250-$1500.  depending on what time of day that was,  it could have been anywhere from around 2 to 2.5BTC?

ppl pay $1200 for those avalons that use twice as much elec, so i imagine this would be higher

and, yes, both amts are way too much.   that's why it's better for these ASIC developers to sell their ASICs rather than mining with them
945  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transactions Relayed By 5.9.24.81 all stuck in queue on: November 21, 2013, 05:54:42 PM
See this:

http://blockchain.info/ip-address/5.9.24.81

All of the recent transaction relayed by this ip are all stuck in queue.

For example this transaction will be stuck in queue for 23 hours (at the time of this post)
http://blockchain.info/tx/80f45351ed278b8802d09f7e2073198a037c9eab12a474d03070465a63f79816

Why is this happening? All these transactions are paying transaction fees.

if it was relayed by 5.9.24.81, that's good.  it probably propagated it a couple of seconds faster than it might have otherwise

anything that shows up on blockchain.info with proper fees will be included in a block at some time or another

ed: if you want something relayed faster, then change your fee payment.  the default amount is 0.0001, change it to 0.00011
946  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we still early adopters? Or did that pass after 2010/2011? on: November 21, 2013, 05:51:10 PM
if bitcoin still exists in 10 years or w/e, you'd be seen as early adopters

to me, anyone that started after the $2 2012 collapse isn't an early adopter

similarly, I suppose a lot of people that were around pre-2011 would consider anyone that started during the "boom" around mar-may of 2011 not an early adopter (re: about the first time bitcoin got some mainstream press)

He can almost taste the KnC Jupiter. It tastes like metal.

tastes like metal, with a bit of some gritty paper tasting objects thrown in
949  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] BFL SC ASIC (56 GH/s) on: November 21, 2013, 01:34:19 AM
I'll pay $700 for it, as long as it got here (75703) by Monday

no clue how much that is in bitcoins, somewhere from 1 to 1.5 would be my guess
950  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS 5 Avalon ASIC bitcoin miners with total of 340GH/sec on: November 21, 2013, 01:31:24 AM
I need to make room for some Jupiters that will hopefully be arriving soon and noticed how much Avalon's were selling for on E-Bay so decided to put them up for sale. I will consider any offers and give 10% discount if purchased outside of E-Bay with buyer paying escrow fees if required.

hmm, i personally would never have accepted an offer from someone with 1 feedback, esp on bitcoin hardware
951  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: November 21, 2013, 01:15:32 AM
OK, so I'm guessing people probably use 204.10.105.113:9332/static because of the domain p2pool.org... even though it's horribly set up & has a 2% fee.  quite sad really, when one looks at the one month/one year chart.  (oh and ofc he never took me up on my offer, no mails from that guy)

now, second question, why do people use elizium.name?... or is it just all local traffic?  though I'd be shocked if 95% or more of it wasn't just from random people using a remote p2pool.  400 shares I think is enough to get a trend & 55 orphans is bad.   I can see there's 11 outgoing connections, but I guess I'll assume that those are just random outgoing connections?   It looks like my node @ 198.12.127.2 used one of its random outgoing connections to hook up w/ it, but not connected to me at the other two places.   normally i'd add it to --p2pool-node since it seems to be on a fast enough computer & good connection, but i've just been observing the sub 100% efficiency for the last few days & curiosity killed the cat.  Is it all just because of that interface?  The most important part is busted (the share explorer).

I also don't understand why so many people use 183.136.216.39:9332/static/graphs.html?Year when it's absolutely horrid.  10 outgoing connections, that are either totally random or not good choices.  For location (China), he's not connecting to some critical western US & Russian nodes that he should be on.  I *think* it's also on an old version of bitcoind.  at least it's at 0% fee

But why would you use that over this:   mine.yuyi.tw:9332 a far superior pool in Taiwan with 1/10th the hashrate.  This one runs 0% fee too, so that's not it

is there some place i'm missing where these sites are being advertised?  reddit?  asic hardware manufacturer forums?  lol.

some people want to use p2pool for whatever reason, but don't want to spend money on hosting for their own node (I'll assume they live in a crap rural area like myself w/ shit for bandwidth).   but why always choose the wrong pools?   then you get all the bullshit misinformation about how p2pool pays out less than <insert x pool>.  yeah, probably cause you were on one of these low efficiency pools or running a local node that was getting 15% orphans and 5% DOA..  though if it weren't for those people, I guess the rest wouldn't be picking up the bonus

but, seriously, who is mining on one of those 3 pools right now and why?   is there anyone that reads this thread that does?   if not, where are they coming from?

I had to use google translate.   Grin  I'd say talk to this guy:  mine.yuyi.tw:9332

https://twitter.com/TaiwanPool                                  (for one, you'd want him to --p2pool-node to your pool, since he has 0 incoming)

I've been saying for a while it's by far the best server in Oceania area....   it looks like he picked up a lot of hashing power recently and is still doing well on orphans
952  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: November 21, 2013, 01:09:30 AM
Wait, you got tired of people potentially donating to you (may not have been a mistake) and that's why you left P2Pool?  What if they were legitimately paying you a tip/donation with hash cycles?
If they wanted to donate, they could have just mined under a real mining address... it did have a 1% fee set

this is the monthly chart (missing the last two days since i've taken it down)

www.nogleg.com/temp/monthly_graph.html

and the weekly:

www.nogleg.com/temp/weekly_graph.html

i don't see that many workers on any other public nodes... that come in for a couple seconds then leave (even discounting 50% or more of the addresses being invalid)

my guess is my server is some fallback on some mining software somewhere?  either way, all those diff ppl ate up sockets that never closed.  i think it impacted 'real' miners when i set the max to 3 sockets per user

954  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Rented miner with high HW errors on: November 20, 2013, 04:48:42 PM
i'm not really sure as to why you'd rent out your personal bitcoin mining equipment as a not for profit endeavor

was there some large sum paid in advance?  i suppose that could have its uses
955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Who's still CPU mining? on: November 20, 2013, 04:11:45 AM
I use 7 of the 8 cores of my AMD FX-8320 (overclocked the turboboost to 4.11Ghz) to mine for primecoins since my protoshares client can't find any peers to download the blockchain...

i can assist with that

use addnode=5.9.24.81

oh, it took me about 15 minutes to fix

had to download some new version
956  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: 50BTC + DDoS ....where are my BTC? on: November 20, 2013, 04:06:03 AM
So, big question is, why the hell did you leave 11BTC in your wallet on a pool?  That's like leaving a years salary in notes in your desk drawer at work.

Auto cashout at 0.1-0.5BTC, so this shit doesn't happen.
there's probably a reasonable explanation, like mining at 10thash or so
957  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Curious which pool is the best or is there any difference at all? on: November 20, 2013, 04:04:39 AM
Anyone have some experience with this? Which is the best among eclipse/elgius or is there a better one altogether that has a better payout?

Any insight would be helpful and thank you in advance.
bitminter or eclipsemc
958  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: November 20, 2013, 04:01:41 AM
the guy running p2pool.org is oblivious.  p2pool.org:9332/static/graphs.html?Day ... upgrade ... bitcoind ... version ...

Except to the fact that he was able to secure p2pool.org.

What, did something happen to it earlier?  I'm confused..

Quote
funny, I came back to report that failover-only was working on zvs's pools, when he took them down this time they didn't lock up the miners.

Yeah, mostly just got tired of all the ppl coming without even using their bitcoin address, even though they generated me a couple of taco bell meals over the last couple of weeks.

When I look at p2pool.org's daily log, there's not a single person listed that didn't use a proper bitcoin address (well, a few litecoin addresses)....   but his getblocktemplate latency chart is lol  Grin

put me down for #19, I'll see if I can find time to do it..
OK, it's like half way done.  I still have 5 days or so, eh?   Grin

It's a lot slower w/o a foot pedal
960  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: November 19, 2013, 04:14:12 PM
Zvs: I guess this means we should remove your 3 servers from our Bitcoin addnode and p2pool -n lists?
Yah.   Grin

Quote
It's almost as if it was never meant to have that many connections. Oh wait...
Sure seems that way.  I imagine it's why p2pool.org runs so horribly.

Doesn't mean that it's a problem that should be ignored.

Quote
Cool, should mean less wall-of-text meaningless ramblings on this thread, too.
Even the poster above you caught the drift, but you just seem to be oblivious

on second thought, you're not oblivious, just a jackass.  the guy running p2pool.org is oblivious.  p2pool.org:9332/static/graphs.html?Day ... upgrade ... bitcoind ... version ...
