941  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: FPGA development board "Icarus" - pre-order acceptable. on: January 21, 2012, 04:46:06 AM
I just got my 2 Icarus boards. They came well package with everything I need to start mining. Unlike the x6500, these came with usb cables and power adapters. I plugged them in, installed the usb serial software, moved the python libraries to the right location, and ran miner.py and started mining right away. It took me less than 10 minutes from opening the package to mining. And I'm running this on my Mac.

When I have wattage and hashrate data, I will report back.

Looks like it was mined by deepbit:
http://blockchain.info/block-index/850426/0000000000000220d0f2074e3ddc424732ff2fac8c30f1ce09974893dc55cdef

And it's in deepbit's stats: (the one with timestamp 20.01 17:18:32)
https://deepbit.net/stats

Looks like a generous person.

Nice pool. Good job. One request... can the my worker page show # of stales as a percentage in addition to the count?

I will give them a few more days. If I don't hear back, then I'm going to assume they don't want it anymore. At that point, I will prepare the coins and ship them out.

IM means Internet Marketing.

Surely anyone good at internet marketing should understand that acronyming that term makes them sound like social media synergy cloud buzzword snake-oil salesmen.

I eventually realized that IM means internet marketing as oppose to instant messaging, but I still don't understand what a coin targeted to the internet marketing world means. I'm guessing I'm just not the target for this coin.
947  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: January 20, 2012, 03:50:53 AM
Am I the only person that doesn't understand what "targeted to the IM world" means?
948  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 Custom FPGA Miner on: January 19, 2012, 07:39:38 AM
A lot of invalids with the 180MHz bitstreem. I guess I will stick with the 166.

Code:
Running time: 2h2m
Getwork interval: 15 secs
FPGA 0:
  Accepted: 255
  Rejected: 2 (0.78%)
  Invalid: 27 (9.47%)
  Hashrate (all nonces): 166.84 MH/s
  Hashrate (valid nonces): 151.03 MH/s
  Hashrate (accepted shares): 149.28 MH/s
FPGA 1:
  Accepted: 230
  Rejected: 2 (0.86%)
  Invalid: 35 (13.11%)
  Hashrate (all nonces): 156.30 MH/s
  Hashrate (valid nonces): 135.81 MH/s
  Hashrate (accepted shares): 134.64 MH/s
Total hashrate for device: 323.15 MH/s / 286.85 MH/s / 283.93 MH/s
949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] RealCoin - Targeted to the IM world! on: January 19, 2012, 12:31:23 AM
I still dont get many things around mining. I admitted that a couple pages back as well.

But what you keep not understanding is the fact that this is a prelaunch and i am just announcing a new altcoin. Thats my job. My job also is to answer to questions as good as i can. Thats all i have to do.

As you see I am listening to what people say and try to learn as more as possible and hear suggestions/ideas that i will pass on to the developers and the investors.

No need for this negativity.

You are probably new to this forum. Negativity is the norm around here. Smiley

Read up on Solidcoin and you will understand why your premine + "RealCoin Fund" is basically just Solidcoin's CPF. Nothing new.
950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] RealCoin - Targeted to the IM world! on: January 19, 2012, 12:20:15 AM
I am also of the opinion that the current structure of only 8.2mil RLC is better than the total amount of RLC being premined because it brings miners into play with an active role.

Why?  The purpose of miners is to secure the network.  If they are compensated from premined coins or newly generated coins has no real relevance.

+1

Just a few weeks ago, TheGlobber didn't even understand why there's a need for miners: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=55805.0
Yet, he comes here to announce an alt currency that adds nothing to bitcoin except for a huge premine and a promise that there are tons of cool stuff in the works. This smells of greed and looks pretty much like a scam to me.
951  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 Custom FPGA Miner on: January 18, 2012, 06:57:53 PM
I have 2 of these pointing at 2 x6500's: http://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Mobile-External-Cooling-AF0007/dp/B002OJN250/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1326912959&sr=8-4

That should make them cool enough, right?
952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [RELEASE] Liquidcoin (Speculation based) on: January 18, 2012, 06:52:25 AM
To put it in perspective with Litecoin... Litecoin currently has a difficulty of 1.14442 and the block times are 2.5 minutes. If Liquidcoin gets popular and has as much hashrate as Litecoin right now (33 mhash/s), with a difficulty of 0.05, a block will be found every 6.5 seconds.

I just had the 0 mhash bug happened to me. Stopping the mining and restarting didn't help. I had to reprogram it and things are back to normal.
956  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 Custom FPGA Miner on: January 13, 2012, 02:08:47 AM
Testing now on a couple of mine. What's the command to update using git? "clone" will only let me use empty directories which is super annoying.

git pull
957  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 Custom FPGA Miner on: January 12, 2012, 10:01:37 PM
It might be the hub. I can get 290-300mhash on my iMac, but switching to the hub dropped it to 260-270.

I think I found a reason for slowed down USB communication when running with many boards. I pushed an update to Github, and in my own testing it seems to have helped. Please let me know how it works for you.

That worked! My hashrate went from 270 to 313.

I use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Macally-Mini-4-Port-Adapter-TriHub4/dp/B001DBF07I/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1326302935&sr=1-2
And my hashrate is between 260-270 for the 166MHz bitstream. So it may be the usb hub. I will try not using a hub.
But then again it could be because I'm on a Mac.
