941  Economy / Collectibles / Re: PRE-ORDER! f*D 24k GOLD 1.5 troy ounce BCH Coins on: November 29, 2017, 04:59:19 PM
Considering placing an order as I have the first two coins in the BCH series. If you do not receive the full ten orders I assume you will not be able to go forward with this project and give refunds? Some guidance would be helpful thanks.

If the mint can reproduce all those fine circuit details shown in mockup in the struck coin this will be one of the most beautiful coins ever minted.
943  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 28, 2017, 05:36:34 PM
Bitcoin price is testing the upper trend line of this Andrew's Pitchfork.

A pullback to about $9000 would be healthy before another attempt to push through $10K. If price does break through $10K the upper trend line could become support.
944  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [TEASER] NaTTyMiNd's SAMSARA by Eleutheria on: November 28, 2017, 04:15:26 PM

For complete transparency, I’m in discussions with the sculptor regarding the circuitry connecting the twelve links on the perimeter. When you put it on an actual sized mock-up projection,  it doesn’t look nearly as coherent as the digital design. I trust the first strike will be a balanced compromise between classically bold and new age inspired.

The prototype will be presented on the announcement thread before any orders are comitted🤗

Love the mock up but can a mint actually reproduce all that detail when striking a coin?

Just buy both of them problem solved.
946  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this the Best Time to Buy BTC at 10k on: November 27, 2017, 09:40:06 PM
Bitcoin lost 30% of its value from Nov 7 to Nov 11. It will happen again. So just watch the charts and look for another 30% pullback and buy then. At current price of $9600 that would mean you bid at $6700. You want to buy when others are selling to get a good entry.

948  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 27, 2017, 03:21:11 AM
I think there is much more than 1M bitcoins lost.

and when you google for these lost bitcoins stories most are really dated numbers in terms of value.
You literally have to multiply the reported value 15 fold making it even more "head shaking worthy." (for want of a better term)
So for example this familiar story
I'm sure most of the legendaries/heroes in here have heard about the
7500 bitcoins lost valued at over a reported $5 million then that are now worth around $70 million.
And this is just one story of many.
It's mind blowing when you think about it.

No one takes into account the dust left behind everywhere.

I have one inaccessible wallet containing enough for a good night out year's salary.  The other one has only dust  enough for a really good night out.  Still only makes me smile and shake my head at my own stupidity.

To be revisited after the next batch of zeroes are handed out.

Well that sucks my friend, really sorry to hear that.
Lost password? I only ask as that's what gets me paranoid now, due to an issue I recently had
when I set a password on a newly installed electrum wallet.
I SWEAR I had it right when trying to get back in...even written down... but nope. locked out. PHUUUUUK!!!
Should have tested BEFORE loading wallet with funds... duhhh! stupid phukkin me!!!

My recovery seed saved me...THAT was correct, phew!...thank phuk for that...Lesson learned.

Being in charge of one's own banking security has its merits to be sure.
Just be aware of the downfalls as they can be costly indeed...

Oh, i know that sinking feeling very well, when your heart slips down into your bowel.
Also on a newly created electrum wallet, when claiming BTG from the old one, but it wasn´t the wallets fault.

I use a password-manager where i create 100+ chars passwords. When i wanted to back it up onto external drive, i had to close it first, and imo i saved the latest changes in it, i.e. new passwords for my new wallets.
But nope, they where gone ! !
Had to use the toilet immediately.  Grin

Thankfully, i had the seeds written down. Phew.

My stupidity. Allways secure and backup newly created wallet-passwords first, BEFORE loading money into it, like "sirazimuth" says, and don´t hurry things !

I know, i know, you guys are not thaat stupid. (really never ? ? )

Guys, everyone should do this:

1. Buy a ledger.
2. Generate a new wallet and write down the 24 words.
3. write down the first BTC address of the new wallet (maybe even put them into a cryptosteel)
4. Erase the ledger.
5. Recover the wallet from your 24 words.
If the first BTC address is the same as the one in step 3, then you know you wrote the 24 words down correctly. Wallet is now safe to use.

You should send a small test transaction to your new Nano S, maybe $50. Securely wipe it and restore from the 24 word seed. When you see the correct balance after the restore you should be confident that the developers really do know what they are doing. If you put anything in the cryptosteel it should be your seed though. Also consider using the advanced option of using passphrase protected accounts. That way if someone gains access to your seed your bitcoin are still safe as long as the passphrase is kept in your head. This option is not for everyone though.
949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: seed storage on: November 27, 2017, 01:22:58 AM
So I'm not completely comfortable with having my seeds stored on paper in my house.  I'm no more comfortable than I would be having a pile of cash stored in a drawer.  I was wondering if this would be safe, or safer?:  Take an old iPhone, disconnect it from the internet and store the seed in a password protected app on the phone?  At least if someone found it, they would have to get past 2 more security levels (the fingerprint unlock and then the password app code).  Knowing that the phone in the past has been connected to the internet, would it be safe if I turned off the wifi?  I figure once BTC passes $50,000 my paranoia will be such that I'll probably get a safe deposit box.  What do you think?  Safe?  Would it be safer than a password protected USB stick, if there is such a thing?

Use a safe or a safety deposit box. For another layer of protection you can store the seed in a Veracrypt encrypted container stored on a flash drive. The one thing you do not ever want to do is store your seed (even encrypted) online on Dropbox or Google Drive etc.
950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: seed storage on: November 27, 2017, 01:19:12 AM
You don't have to do all that, actually that would be less secure. That old iPhone could be stolen and then compromised. The app could have vulnerabilities.
Why not just encrypt the seed using basic text encryption with a password and writing the encrypted string on a paper instead?
It's basically what you're trying to accomplish but without any concerns of hardware failure.

Notepad++ allows you to encrypt text using different algorithms directly from the UI using a plugin called NppCrypt.

...Or you could get a hardware wallet.

I already have a Trezor hardware wallet, which is secure-ish in itself.  But I'm talking about the backup seeds, which I filled out on a card.  But the backup card is as good as cash if someone finds it - is it not?
Yeah, the app might have vulnerabilities.  But even the FBI has trouble getting into iPhones, so why would that not be more secure is what I'm asking?  I guess the real question is if I keep the phone offline from now on, nobody can hack it through the internet, and if someone physically gets it, it would still be harder to get the seeds than if someone physically gets my written down seed card.

That is why you should always use a passphrase with your Trezor. It acts as the 25th word of the seed. Without the passphrase which you keep in your head your coins in Trezor can not be stolen if someone has the seed.

952  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Buyer for a Physical coin - 1oz Gold like Titan Bitcoin on: November 26, 2017, 05:00:29 AM
The problem I have found is the manufacturers are asking a substantial premium over spot gold price. Most likely due to manufacturing cost of small runs of coins. Spot gold is $1288 and Denarium is asking $2600 for an unloaded one ounce gold coin. Finitebydesign is charging less of a premium, their 1.5 ounce Bitcoin Cash gold coin is $3200 still $845 over spot gold. I would rather just buy gold coins like Pandas. You can get a first strike 2017 China 30 Gram Gold Panda already graded MS-70 for $1645 for example.
953  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: this is what will Kill bitcoin. on: November 26, 2017, 12:08:28 AM
I see Tran. Details  but not tran. ID.   This is a 2013 multibit Hd.

Click on the transaction, then click 'show transaction details' then click 'view on blockchain.info' or 'blockexplorer.com'. Once you see the transaction in blockchain.info copy and paste the transaction ID here.
954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: this is what will Kill bitcoin. on: November 25, 2017, 10:43:40 PM
If you would post the transaction ID one of us may be able to push the transaction for you. Also recommend you stop using that POS outdated Multibit wallet. Between Multibit and blockchain.info we get more complaints about stuck transactions than any other wallets.
955  Economy / Speculation / Re: BETI: Bitcoin Exponential Trend Index and technical analysis on: November 25, 2017, 10:32:21 PM
The last few weeks I've been watching this and wondering if the price was going above a BETI of 0 'with conviction.' What I mean is, it's gone above it before without actually going vertical. It looks like maybe 3 or 4  times historically just by looking at the rough chart and not zooming in too closely. So I've been waiting for it to go above .25, as it looks like very time it has gone above that point, it went vertical in the pattern we are familiar with.

Well, it just went above .25 today assuming it holds, of course.

Will it 'be different this time'? If it isn't different, then the question is, how far above 0 does it go? 1.5 or more starts to become a wild number. And, of course, when it comes down again (and it always does), what is our new floor? Anyone good with the math here care to come up with some average numbers for potential bottoms and floors?

Its going to go up slower this time.

I've seen your earlier predictions and I don't disagree. I'm trying to come up with a plan for how to play it. I'm a HODLer at heart, so trying to sell my whole stash at the top and buy back lower isn't on my list of things to do. But trying that with some portion of it maybe. So I'd like to find some sell and buyback points.

Scroll back through this thread and you can see a reasonable plan is to scale out and be in cash before BETI reaches 1.5. Use 1.0 if you prefer. Up to you if you want to go to cash or good alts which might hold value during a bear market. There will be a bitcoin bear market sooner or later. Only you can determine how much pain you can handle if you want to continue to hold through a one to two year bear market. Bitcoin price could well drop to $2000. Me? I am going to be in cash and go bargain hunting.
956  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 25, 2017, 08:22:41 PM

From Bitcoin Trading Signals site. Enky thinks max target this week is $9800.

that would put us out of the log channel, the pitchfork you drew before

not saying a parabolic-er breakout isn't possible here, but I would expect pretty vigorous profit taking at the upper bound of the channel that has been established for over a year

Enky takes a different TA approach using standard deviations. It is unlikely that price will reach the +3 deviation line at $9846 without a pullback first. The upper trend line of the Andrews pitchfork I am following is right at $9100 now. You can also do a Fibonacci extension prediction from the last swing high to swing low:

The Fibonacci projection is $9300. All three TA approaches suggest we are due for a correction, and the closer price gets to $9000 the higher the probability. TA is a tool to help traders set profit targets not infallible of couse. When the correction occurs I expect price to dip to between $5K and $6.3K.

958  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 12/2500 First Series Kialara value? on: November 24, 2017, 03:29:22 PM
There were about 1500 original Kialaras made. With a low serial number you should be able to get about $1200 for it. Not having the original sleeve does bother some collectors though. Asking 0.21 btc is a bit much, for that a buyer could get a Silver Kialara whose mintage was only 250. The originals are not as prized as the Silvers or Golds. Just the way the market works. Also the market is a bit soft right now. I agree with others that you should start an auction using one of the trusted members here like minerjones for escrow. Good luck with the sale!

what's up with the ETH? why this pump?

Traders may just have decided it is time to pump ETH. OTOH since many alts are going up I rather think it is diversification: people who own more bitcoin than they feel comfortable holding through a bear market are moving some to alts.
960  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Looking to start modest crypto collection on: November 23, 2017, 02:40:31 PM
I have a couple Bitcoin penny's but I got about .07 I would like to spend on a couple unique coins so if you got any cool tokens/low funded/unfunded coins, post em below with a fair price.

If you have a limited budget consider getting on the Kialara mailing list and as soon as Max starts selling a new series pick up one for Paypal or just pay bitcoin. That way you get in for lowest price and have appreciation to look forward to. You have to act quick though as new series sell out in a day or so. People who bought Moon bars are reselling for considerable profit now. But whatever floats your boat. Most of the lesser known brands will not appreciate much if at all.
