941  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3600 GH] BTC Guild - PPS, PPLNS with TxFees+Orphans, Stratum+Vardiff ASIC Ready on: February 01, 2013, 05:40:19 PM

BTW, it is confirmed that BTC Guild is ASIC-ready Smiley

Currently mining with the Avalon ASIC unit on BTC Guild, over stratum.

942  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: February 01, 2013, 05:24:19 PM
Personally, I -- and you -- should be far more interested in the transparency of the mining rules.  This is a lot of hashpower concentrated into one operator's hands.

What bitcoind version will be used to generate blocks?

What patches will be applied, if any?

943  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Avalon ASIC B#1 Order on: February 01, 2013, 06:00:01 AM
The demand is far larger than supply.  Don't expect to pay list price in those situations, even if you find someone willing to sell a unit.
944  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: They are real: The Bitcoin Foundation Opens Up Avalon’s First ASIC on: February 01, 2013, 03:56:42 AM
Whatever pool you aim this at is definitely going to notice it, but for the network at large it is a single Avalon Asic is still roughly one third of one hundredth of one percent of the bitcoin network's hashing power or a bit less.

Or in other words, on average, a solo mining Avalon ASIC should find a block once every 2 days, 4 hours at current difficulty.

945  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: February 01, 2013, 12:18:08 AM
Especially as he admits BitSyncom paid him BTC 25 to post a review,

Nope, this is false, as stated in another thread.

The order is:

1. 25 BTC refund/donation received, with no mention of review
2. Months pass
3. Bumped to head of line
4. Review requested.  I was free to ignore the request, and just silently mine bitcoins.

But it seemed like the community would like to know these details, rather than me staying silent.

946  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC arrives with Chinese power chord, No paperwork or instructions. Fun! on: February 01, 2013, 12:14:20 AM
6. jgarzik specifically mentioned he needed a password reset from Avalon before he could actually access the device

No, I never said any such thing.

I did say I needed "instructions from the mothership", which was simply the static IP address for which the machine was configured.

Once obtained -- as my review states -- you are able to access the box and set a root password.  Standard OpenWRT behavior and configuration in that regard.

947  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: February 01, 2013, 12:10:19 AM
Why would somebody who is into the scam post critical reviews like http://garzikrants.blogspot.ca/2013/01/avalon-asic-miner-review.html where he clearly explains he got paid BTC 25 to write a review?

Just for the record, I was not paid anything to write a review.

The 25 BTC was a donation-refund, and a review was not mentioned at all at that time.

Months later, I was bumped to the front of the line -- again, without asking -- and they asked me to do a review.  I was free to say "no" or ignore them at any time.

I assumed the community would prefer that I write about the machine, rather than keep silent and mine.

Maybe I was wrong?

Would be neat if the modules are upgrade-able.

They are upgradeable, FSVO.  The entire kit is modular, and future, faster, better modules can slot right in.

949  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The bASIC Refund Tracking Thread on: January 30, 2013, 04:43:11 PM
People have been requesting BTC refunds for weeks, and none have received it.

The stated plan is CC then BTC.  Money has been actively flowing.

My BTC refund was requested weeks ago as well.  Doesn't change the plan or signs of progress.

951  Other / Meta / Re: Why are Bitcointalk forum members so stupid? on: January 30, 2013, 02:59:09 PM
Age doesn't mean shit, it's the lack of intelligence that leads to such posts.

Every day you spend on Earth is another day of lessons learned.  Highly intelligent youth may compensate for a young age -- and I think this forum as plenty of highly intelligent readers -- but that's not the same thing as age being meaningless.

Youth under the age of 25 are biologically less able to control their emotions, and their brain is still under rapid development.  During the teenage (puberty) years, even more so.

Science says you are more of an animal than you think.  And that shows online as well as offline.  Eat.  Drink.  Screw.  Social chatterings.  Elimination.

952  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The bASIC Refund Tracking Thread on: January 30, 2013, 02:49:24 PM
0 BTC to report here as well. It may be time to go forward with the scammer accusation.

Within a couple days of a successful CC refund?

No, that is not reasonable.

0 BTC refunded here, BTW.

953  Other / Off-topic / Re: Avalon is (unfortunately) a scam. Here is why. on: January 29, 2013, 09:53:09 PM
Your response "stinks", as coming from an insecure person "breathing" lies...

This is precisely why most people running bitcoin businesses or writing bitcoin software think the forum is a ghetto.

Back to ignore, you.

Title fixed.
955  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: January 29, 2013, 07:46:47 PM
After all this I've decided I'm sick of the nonsense and I'm starting my own unicorn ASIC company.

Do you have a track record of shipping working hardware?  Avalon and BFL do...

956  Other / Meta / Re: Why are Bitcointalk forum members so stupid? on: January 29, 2013, 04:58:46 PM
Out of all the forums that I have frequented (and I've been on some seriously high volume forums), it is bitcointalk.org that has the dubious distinction of warehousing the largest number of what can only be described as "retards."

The unwillingness of management to clean out the sewers.

Freedom of speech without freedom of association (or disassociation) just means those who post frequently -- teenagers with time on their hands -- dominate the discussion.

957  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: January 29, 2013, 04:52:56 PM
(reposting from another thread)

No shipping/tracking information has been sent to me, privately or publicly, as of this writing.

No private communications since Jan 20.

Forum readers know as much as I know, at this point.

For the record, at this time, I do not think Avalon or BFL are scams.

This picture seems to be entitled ASIC Preview #1: http://imgur.com/Y8QzhRP

It's even an off-grid, self-powered unit, apparently.

I just tried placing an order, there is no bitcoin option at the checkout. Google wallet, PayPal, or credit cards.

Any follow-up on this?  I was considering an order.
