Why would it be hot? 400 W is the power of typical gaming PC.

I think he's making a statement on the fact that previously 60 GH/s would have consumed 10-30 kW of power compared to 400 W. All sorts of implications with the power consumption figures but they're best discussed in a separate thread.

I highly believe Avalon could reach 88 Ghash. Because currently only 3 modules installed. Maybe they will let us order module seperately and mount it by ourselves.

Not really hard to calculate..
66gh/s for 3 modules

22 gh/s per module.

Prolly about $350 per module.

You know what would be neat. If he allowed us to trade in Icarus boards for additional modules.

Doesn't make financial sense. Icarus boards likely are worthless to them but they are running a similar program to BFL to ensure repeat customer business. Perhaps value an Icarus at $100 trade-in against a module though and take in another $200-250 in cash to cover costs + profit.

Second level of verification seems to be put into play:

Fantastic! Glad to see there's one working product out there in the hands of a consumer. Let's see how Avalon handles getting the other units out..and whether they all maintain 66GH/s Smiley

Would be neat if the modules are upgrade-able. Therefore allowing us to sell used modules to each other.

Now that is something you couldn't do with a BFL Single.

Lets hope in the future they have 33Gh/s modules or 50GH/s. Lets hope that develops.

The 2nd image here - https://forums.butterflylabs.com/bfl-forum-miscellaneous/735-avalon-countdown-discussion-thread-4.html#post12163 - indicates there's others who have an Avalon also.

They are upgradeable, FSVO.  The entire kit is modular, and future, faster, better modules can slot right in.

That image was posted by BitSyncom. I'd hope he'd have an Avalon or two.

FYI: If you buy the second batch, you're not really going to break even IF butterfly labs ships before / around the same time. Now, if Butterfly Labs never shipped or shipped in June or so, then the difficulty from soley Avalon ASICs would be still profitable

Have you seen any overclocking ability in the software?

If they ship, if the specs are what they hope and what else is hashing on the network.  asicMiner are out there also.
Each hw round Avalon go through gives them an opportunity to bring down costs and improve on their design - so in the same time frame there's a chance for the units themselves to improve.

Now they have shipped - they're the only real baseline we have.

Salary? What would you buy for Bitcoins? Webspace and Torrent invites won't feed you kids and they don't sell celery for your BTC salary.
