961  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GMiner v2.36 Ethash/KAWPOW/Equihash/CuckooCycle on: December 21, 2020, 10:52:06 PM
Is there a Discord channel/server for this?  I'd like to join that server to get some support on using GMiner for Eth.  Not understand why I'm getting rejected: Unknown server error right after I see Share #3 verified on CPU, difficulty: 4.77G

This is what I see:

Share #3 verified on CPU, difficulty: 4.77G
Share #3 rejected: Unknown server error

I'm on Windows 10 and running RTX 2070.  Was working fine with other miner program, Claymore and T-Rex.  Wanted to try GMiner Smiley

You can turn off cpu verification with the flag

--share-check 0

You can also try

--share-check 1

Not sure which is enable / disable.

Hard drive doesnt matter.  It is not writing anything to the drive.  Even virtual memory will fail to resolve.  You can run 4gb cards in zombie mode but that will only last a few weeks at most.  If your gpu(s) are bigger than 4gb each then you can continue to mine eth but jsut have to use another miner PM, TRM, Gminer, Lol, T-rex, Nbminer are some of the more popular miner to run...and they are updated.  Claymore has been heard from in quite sometime and appears not to be working on fixing it.
963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminers E3 still alive for ETH? on: December 21, 2020, 09:39:12 PM
Hello guys,

I believe much more possible will be to make Ant E3 start mining ETC again because the DAG file now is 2.5 GB
Maybe I'm totally wrong, but for me seems to be a software fix. Ant E3 is just a case /box/ with GPUs inside and Linux OS and miner software.
Can we somehow install another mining software like Claymore / Ethminer / PhoenixMiner ?
The original one is a cgminer named bmminer
If Ant E3 can mining ETC again will be great.
I have only one Ant E3 and currently mining ETHO or EGEM coin, but profit is max $3.50 per day
Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome

Thanks,

No they changed the Algo specifically to prevent asics from being able to mine it.
964  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any news about nvidia 3060ti hash rates? on: December 21, 2020, 04:07:37 PM
Can someone explain this acronym - TDP?  I'm not following how that plays into the card specs.

Basically, I'm getting started early next month with a pre-built rig to cut my teeth on, but then I'm looking at building an array of rigs in the coming year.  as I plan to mine and hold for long term, the math I am doing based on posted MH/s and power consumption rates, has me looking at the "watts per MH" and "cost per MH".  I don't know if these are ideal metrics to track, but if they are, and if the 3060 Ti's become available within reasonably close proximity to their MSRP, then it appears to me the 3060 Ti's are good value for my purposes. I won't ever truly know first hand until I get my hand one one or two, I'm hoping to do that early next year too and drop them into the rig I'm buying and see for myself.  I know I do not have a good handle on the information I'm seeing here about tweaking the power consumption on the boards, but I do like what I'm seeing about underclocking them a little bit to keep the heat and power down, and extend their life.  It's clear to me that this is a healthy mix of art and science to get this to work efficiently.  Clearly there's a lot more to it then just dropping cards on a board and pushing a button.  I hope I am able to pick this all up quickly.

Thermal Design Power - Ie how much power it is thermally designed to handle.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_design_power

And realize for your second part..its hitting a moving target.  Every calculation you make is subject to change almost immediately.
965  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.4c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: December 21, 2020, 01:01:34 AM
Linux Install for EthOS.. Help needed.

I use EthOS and my rigs are mostly with 5.0 or 5.1 PhoenixMiner. I used the Ethos update option. It refers to GitHub for third party miner install script for Ethos. But it updates the PhoenixMiner to 5.3b edition, not the latest 5.4c edition.

I see instructions to download the .exe file for Windows. Can someone point me towards EthOs Install for 5.4c edition without using Ethos miner manager?

Thanks,

Its there just in /opt/miners/phoenixminer
do a ls in there and you will see itunder folder /PhoenixMiner_5.4c_linux

just have to copy the file up a directory level and will fix it.

will need to do a chmod +x on the miner file after copy

Litecoin mining wont be profitable until the price per LTC reaches $200 usd each. I wouldnt expect to make a profit anytime in the next 5 years.

Grin Litecoin mining wont be profitable until the price per BTC reaches $200,000 usd each. I wouldnt expect to make a profit anytime in the next 500 years.

Minimum step is 2 so mayby 4078 then 4080 and if not step down 4074 etc...

this isnt overclocking. it will just run or not. this isnt voltages that could cause harm.

Not talking about harm or voltage.  Several devs and some of the mining os people actually state to do in increments to find maximum speed.  Its memory size.  I just suggested he check the other close sizes.  Because over time it will move down not up as dag increases.  And im incorrect in stating min step is 2...it is 1.  So try the odd numbers around that size to find fastest.

Why would they sell them if they exist?

969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TeamRedMiner 0.7.21 - Nimiq/Kawpow/Ethash/Etchash/Cryptonight and More on: December 20, 2020, 07:15:14 PM
Can confirm that the latest (0.7.21) TRM miner works well with my 2 x RX 570 Sapphire Pulse 4Gb cards,
currently both mining ETH at 28.3 MH/s each.   This is on Xubuntu 16.04 with driver version 17.30.
Here is my command line

teamredminer --platform=0  -a ethash -o stratum+tcp://europe.ethash-hub.miningpoolhub.com:20535 -u xxxxxx.$WK -p x \
 --eth_4g_max_alloc=4076,4076 --fan_control=:::44,:::26 --pool_no_ensub

A good thing of this miner compared to Phoenixminer is the clean startup and shutdown, as well as lower power consp.   No more hangup requiring box reboot.
Will be keen to see how well the DAG spillover to system mem works into the coming weeks.

try --eth_4g_max_alloc=4080,4080.

You are right now in zombie mode. You don't need to wait for the coming weeks.

Minimum step is 2 so mayby 4078 then 4080 and if not step down 4074 etc...
970  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.17: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: December 20, 2020, 05:22:01 PM
With the new size of dag 383 there is some way to have full hashrate on 4gb cards or to improve my hashrate?

--4g-alloc-size 4080 --keepfree 5             Epoch 382: 385MHS
--4g-alloc-size 4080 --keepfree 5             Epoch 383: 358MHS

All this on a 13 RX570 4GB RIG

Just want you to know, that --keepfree 5 is not needed any more when 4G alloc size is set  - at least not in Linux, only for Windows it would make a difference (but Eth is pretty dead on Windows already)
The decrease to 93% of original speed is pretty normal here for epoch 383 kicking in, since 382 did fit perfectly to the memory, but 383 does no longer. Thats the fate with Zombie mode, it will decrease on every further epoch - at least on the 4G cards :/

thanks for help. Driver crash? what can be done to fix this? 1.15 works ok no crash.

No, pretty sure this is no driver crash. Rather something in pool communication that went wrong, because it did crash exactly the moment where it did submit a share and was waiting for pool response. I will compare the code to see if there is some bug in (but this should not be changed for 1.17 ... hmm ... anyways, I will double check it)
Lolliedieb thanks for looking. on post  #1742 shared screenshot this exactly same error i get too. i have to restart miner then again stops.

Try lowering the 4080 to 4072 or lower

I thought they were both 3X..

Darn if I didn’t feel stupid already..

Now I have to figure out what al “L3+” is..

L3 is litecoin isnt it?

Ya 504mhs...

$1.80/day before elec.

Good thing I got these super cheap.. Anyone know what to do With them?

If you got them cheap enough eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bitmain-Antminer-X3-with-PSU-pre-owned-220kH-s/114570324299?hash=item1aacec694b:g:phYAAOSw5WVf06Dt

Not sure where you are located but if it's a cooler environment older low power miners can be used as electric space heaters.
At 465 watts I don't think it it will make noise, but if it does at that low wattage you can always swap to lower noise fans.

-Dave

Looks like the only thing this asic can still mine is KRB or BCN.  Everything else has forked of CN.  Worst yet those 2 coins combined dont have $1k in worldwide volume/24hrs.  That ebay add is misleading is stating some of the coins it can mine...like all but the two i mentioned.

Maybe the psus are good for something.
975  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is mining in mobile phone Real?? on: December 19, 2020, 08:29:36 PM
Technically you can mine with paper and pen.

1. You can't install any mining software on paper and pen.
2. Pen and paper can't compete with CPU or GPU, but ARM-based device can.
3. U can build rigs connecting devices together, can u build rigs with pen and paper? no.

1) you dont need software you need mathmatics
2) neither can your phone
3) when did you move that goal post in here....  Go build your rigs of arm proc and phones.  The op asked if its real and what is the logic behind this.  You are answering is it technically possible...which as i stated it is...even with pen and paper it is...sorry you were not educated about math...but yes humans can do math and a pen and paper makes it easier for most humans.  The logic part is where im answering there is none.  It does not make any sense to mine on phone.  Plenty of others with a lot more crediblity than you or i have replied the same.

Phone mining is not a thing.  If it is please show the dollars a day you are making....becuase by every measure i can find its a few pennies if that.

976  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can only get 4/6 cards to mine on my rig on: December 19, 2020, 07:54:55 PM
ive got a 170a pcmate board that wouldnt allow me to uncouple the pcie used for m.2
i got around this by using a little m.2 to pcie 4x slot adapter to get the 6th gpu to work.

977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is mining in mobile phone Real?? on: December 19, 2020, 05:19:08 PM
You side stepped the point at most making $0.06 a day with power costs is a terrible idea.  Also the coin you point to has low liquidity.  You can probably make substantially more by collecting aluminum cans on the side of the road.    You can make almost any device mine...but at some point you are just spinning your wheels. The point being is that it maybe fun from a hacking point of view but isnt really going to make you anything.  The coins mined are near worthless and generally difficult to exchange.  If this is your way to make money....expect to be poor.

But you be you.  Its a terrible way to mine...but nobody can stop you.  Plenty have advised the same but i wouldnt dare stop you from chasing windmills.   Roll Eyes

As I said I don't use cellphones primarily for mining and I don't make living by mining, nor would I advise to do so. My point is mobile pow mining is possible. I gave u reference numbers only to show that ARM CPU can compete with a x86 CPU, that's it. How to spend 0.06$ and make a living on mining is irrelevant off-topic.

I would say the last sentence you wrote is EXACTLY the topic the OP was asking about.

Technically you can mine with paper and pen.
978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [FIX] Latest Nvidia drivers version 460.79, 460.89 - NVML patcher on: December 19, 2020, 03:04:27 PM
Use newest T-Rex Miner version and you don´t need any patcher. Most miner updated their software.

can someone explain me why all update their driver if a new came out? Any reason? I see no reason? Don´t update, you get no more hashrate with new drivers.

Some people have newer cards that require.
979  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any news about nvidia 3060ti hash rates? on: December 19, 2020, 02:58:58 PM
AMD generally dont include the power from bus/riser.

Nvidia generally includes this.

So AMD will show less power in software than at the wall.
Nvidia will show closer to actual power just doesnt include the base system power.

The power from the wall is all that really matters.
980  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Mem Tweak XL - Read/modify timings/pp/straps on the fly on: December 19, 2020, 02:56:49 PM
Vega64 flashed with Vega56 bios

using theses timings
--CL 20 --RAS 26 --RCDRD 12 --RCDWR 12 --RC 38 --RP 12 --RRDS 3 --RRDL 5 --RTP 6 --FAW 12 --CWL 8 --WTRS 4 --WTRL 9 --WR 13 --REF 24000 --RFC 239

Core 1097Mhz / 825mV
Mem 1028Mhz

you can get 54.5Mh/s solid ethereum hashrate at 115w to 130w depending on your model!

I have Vega 56 with 64 BIOS, 6xSapphire REF cards with samsung RAM. If I put Mem over 960 teamred is freeze and restart. SocMhz jump from 960 to 1107, but I can't set in HiveOs. I think SocMhz will be max 1028.

Core 970, 840mv
Mem 960, 800mv
I get 45Mhs ~100W

using these timings:
--CL 20 --RAS 20 --RCDRD 11 --RCDWR 12 --RC 43 --RP 14 --RRDS 3 --RRDL 6 --RTP 5 --FAW 12 --CWL 8 --WTRS 4 --WTRL 9 --WR 14 --RE
F 65535 --RFC 248

If I put RC value under 42, ETH MHS growing up, but imediatly crashed.
Any better timings to these REF cards?!

Vega 56 is the bios to run.  64 only uses more power but doesnt provide additional hashing.  Most will flash their 64s down to 56.
