There is no next Litecoin, until Litecoin matches BTC.

Either way I'm rich  Grin

scamcoin the next the fail coin.

Except this coin actually offers something unique and wasn't premined to hell.

Instant transactions are a big thing for a variety of different markets.

Instant transactions its strength but its also its weakness.

In which ways?

It should work just fine.  For you PSU, you might want to upgrade.  If it has 4 pcie connectors, you will be able to use both cards but it is bad to have your PSU running at full load all the time.
966  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Hardware help please on: May 25, 2013, 03:41:19 AM
You probably didn't fry the PSU as a result of mining.  Those cards with a system use well less than 700w.  Whatever failed probably wasn't a result of mining unless it was your cards depending on how hot you had them running.
967  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: shoruds or no shrouds on gpus on: May 25, 2013, 03:11:16 AM
If you have a big enough fan blowing on the heatsink fin assembly then you might notice a decrease in temps.  What you should do is take the plastic shroud off, test it, and if it doesn't decrease your temps put the shroud back on.  There isn't much that can go wrong.
968  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How much does the brand change? on: May 25, 2013, 03:01:46 AM
You should be fine.  The only thing that differs between the manufacturers when it comes to reference design cards is the support.  The warranty of most 5xxx series cards is coming to an end anyways, so it won't matter how good or bad their customer service is.

also, usb stick or small hdd to run OS....and an OS

Yeah, I wrote USB stick but that would require the use of Linux.

So we use a live usb?

Yeah.  You can go the Linux route and use a live USB.  You got the cost of an 8GB USB.  With windows, you have to buy the OS (or pirate it) and buy a HDD for around $40.

You might want to consider bitspend for stuff like this.

Cheap CPU
Motherboard with a lot of slots
USB stick
A little RAM
Beefy power supply
A lot of nice GPUs
Riser Cables

These are the main parts of a mining rig.  If you don't know how to build a computer at all, you can find out online how to piece it together.  It really isn't that hard, but you will need some sort of guide if you have never done it before.

973  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Is there any interest in extended-length risers? on: May 24, 2013, 09:20:26 PM
I would definitely be interested, for long length x16 risers and x1 to x16 adapters.
974  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: First time buying risers. Any tips? on: May 24, 2013, 07:42:39 PM
Well thanks everyone for the replies. I decided to buy some unpowered cables and molex adapters. The mod on forum doesn't look too difficult and what I spent in total is less than two units from hashratestore.com. I'm still skeptical whether power is necessary as the three cards I have on the motherboard are working swell and not burning out anything as is. Better safe than sorry, I guess.

Power probably won't be necessary, but if the board blows you know why.  Where did you end up buying them from?  If you bought the ones on ebay they are going to take a long time to ship from HK
975  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Driver error, 7790 and 7950 on: May 24, 2013, 07:40:32 PM
by the way.  The 2 7950s I currently have going arent screwed/fastened on to anything they are just sitting there plugged in vertically on the horizontal motherboard.  Is it a bad idea not to have them fastened on?

I can't really picture what you are describing but if they aren't going to fall and you aren't applying any stress to the PCIe slots on the cards or mobo you should be good.
976  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Driver error, 7790 and 7950 on: May 24, 2013, 07:39:18 PM
Man you've been having bad luck with this stuff.

I had an Asrock extreme6 running 3 cards for a while.  To eliminate any possibility of it being a board problem, try running the cards in the top 3 slots.  One in the highest x1 slot, then the two in the closest x16 slots.  Plug the monitor into the middle card, the card that is in the topmost x16 slot.  That is what setup I had, so if yours don't work in those slots then we can focus just on drivers.

you noticed huh? lol everything was perfectly fine until i bought that fan from fry's lol.  So I can get 2 7950s running in any configuration on any of the 3 slots now.  I am unable to run 2 7950s and 1 7790 in any order.  I'll try 3 7950s and see what happens.  When I use a unpowered x16 riser cable on the third slot it shits out.  I should be able to get a monitor signal from the last slot corrrect?  The worst part is that I JUST HAD THIS WORKING.  oh well.

I got some steps to try on the other "burnout" mobo from asrock support.  He said I should still get monitor signal on a no input error.

It would be good to try just 7950's.  Although, I had 2x7950's and 1 6950, which, in theory, should be more complicated than getting your 7xxx series cards to work together.  As far as which cards can get a monitor signal, any of the x16's should be able to but I noticed I had issues when any card other than the one in the top slot were plugged in to a monitor.

Also, are you plugging in the extra molex power by the PCIe slots?  You should do that just to be safe.

978  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: are all 7950's good? or just gigabyte? on: May 24, 2013, 06:44:21 PM
GPU is dead

GPU is not dead.  For Bitcoin GPU is heading out the door, but for scrypt coins GPUs are still very much alive.

Look here: http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/?sha256HashRate=1320&sha256Power=500.00&sha256PowerCost=0.3&scryptHashRate=1320&scryptPower=500.00&scryptPowerCost=0.3

You can see that Litecoin is around the same profitiability as BTC and it is ASIC resistant.  At the top is WDC which could be a very good way to go with GPUs considering it is 140% as profitable as BTC.
979  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Average ratio between accepted and stale shares? on: May 24, 2013, 06:35:08 PM
Its hard to get an average for all scenarios.  On some pools you might get 1% stales and on other pools there might be terrible reject rates of 50%.
980  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: PCI to PCIe adapters on: May 24, 2013, 05:41:29 PM
You should be able to get away with using at least one of them.  People have reported their motherboards burning out with more than one, but there are limited sources that back this up.
