984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 19, 2013, 10:44:51 AM
Sorry i am new to all this ...
But there is one thing i dont get.
I tryed to run it with a primecoin.conf file and changed parameters like rpcuser ... rpcpassword ... gen=0 gen=1 and also with rpcport=9910 rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 with server=1 and daemon=1.
I did not receive any block in earlier stages ... difficulty was past 8 to this stage ...
as i deleted the conf file and run the wallet without it i received two blocks in two hours ...
How can that be ... Luck ? I was using hp3 ...
So my question is is the conf file needed or not ??

Thx

That is indeed called pure luck.

Any news with HP5 and if its doing any good?

What has your results shown from all different versions?
985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 19, 2013, 08:36:04 AM
can someone provide proper instructions for HP5?

Seems like the folders are different and I am getting a blank screen after running the watch command.

Accepting offers for this domain. PM me.
994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 17, 2013, 10:12:02 PM
This shouldn't be taken as 100% correct, but I seem to remember it being mentioned that each step up in chain length is a 30 fold increase. so an 8 length chain would be 30x more difficult than a 7 length chain, and a 9 length chain would then be 900x more difficult than a 7 length chain.

So in other words, your average rate of blocks per hour would be the 5-chain rate / 30^(diff - 5). Time to write a script...

Edit: updated the script.

Why did you write this script? what did you change, and what problem did you solve?
995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Primecoin Record Books on: July 17, 2013, 09:25:04 PM

996  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Primecoin Buzz - First Android App for Primecoin ! on: July 17, 2013, 07:10:58 PM
Thanks for creating this awesome app for us! The app itself is solid - enough settings to keep those of us with battery rundown issues happy - all around, a great app. Now all we need is a moblie wallet for primecoin, with QR code generation, and we're all set Cheesy

Thanks!

I think I may get on that mobile wallet for primecoin Tongue
997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM]unofficial jhPrimeminer thread on: July 17, 2013, 02:23:22 AM
Works like a charm.

EDIT: Not happy with the results. I ran a mining hosting business for ypool's output in results, and earnings has dropped dramatically, as systems grew.

I respect ypool's owners and people contributing to it, but I just don't see it being profitable anymore for me.

In fact, I am earning more XPM, with less resources than what I was throwing at ypool.

I found something better, and moved on Smiley
998  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: July 16, 2013, 11:41:23 PM
I feel skeptical about that ypool miner. I do not know why. Anyone else tried it or can look deep enough in its source code to figure out anything fishy?

https://github.com/jh000/jhPrimeminer/tree/master/src I am looking it over as we speak, and I don't see any signs, but who knows.

Could help if others got involved.

From here:

http://www.mersenne.ca/mfaktc.php

Nvidea and AMD cards perform similarly in prime verification?

Does this have any relevant? if so, which part is related to prime verification?

I have this:
GeForce GTX 550 Ti   GF116-400   900   2.1   691   116   1.113   143.810   129.2   $119.48   0.400   51.7

It seems that the git repo is down ? I noticed when trying to pull the latest (hp4) changes .

They even released official explanation that they did it because of over-usage of their resources. Imagine that.
