Uganda vs Papua New Guinea
Judging from the previous game of both of these teams, expected PNG to win this one since despite the loss they gave a good fight to West Indies, while the Uganda was completely thrashed by Afghanistan.
Uganda won this one but it was more due to poor performance of PNG, especially in batting and fielding, even with this meagre score PNG could have won the match had they did not drop catches.
Anyway, congrats to Uganda, they were really happy with their world cup win.

India are going with Rohit-Kohli combo, which is interesting but feel for poor Jaiswal. Rohit looks like a quota skipper lol
I didn't feel this was right combo either, Kohli is better as one-down batter, Jaiswal should open with Rohit and try to give good start to the team without caring for his wicket. Idk who should be benched for Jaiswal though, and there is no way Rohit himself can be stepping down. Meanwhile, Surya is still finding his form, hopefully he'll perform when team needs him most. Don't take me wrong and i stand against your argument completely. Virat opening for RCB for quite some time and tasted more than enough success, plus he's an anchor that we don't need but at the same time in tough times he can go with that. If I had some authority then i'd have dropped Rohit completely but he's a skipper so yk. I'd prefer Abhishek (similar aggressive young batter) and Jaiswal in T-20 every single time. You said, franchise cricket is not international cricket, just few comments above  Anyway, what I mean is, in T20 team requires a good start, so aggressiveness in openers is must and after that anchoring the innings is done. And if it's openers day, they can sail the ship smoothly to winning shore without need of anybody else (as with SRH this year). Regarding Rohit, I don't have anything with his inclusion, if he can show same intent as in odi world cup that's fine with me. |

It's shame that SA selectors left Faf out of wc squad. His fitness level is top notch, bats aggressive, great fielder, can perform in under pressure situations. Faf is experienced and checks all other boxes, wrong decision from the selectors to exclude him.
SENA cricket boards are not like Subcontinent cricket boards. Results or no results, they look at the future and never go back to old dogs, they didn't even approach AB de Villiers a few years back so it gives us an idea about their mentality. Unlike in our part of the world, which is the opposite, look at how everyone bends over for star players. It's not exactly about being star, I would not be rooting for him had he been performing poor, look at his performance in IPL, his catches taken, he's performing good and add the experience of playing since long, you just have a player that could play significant role in team wins (even a mere catch can be a turning point, good fielders are underrated). It's fine for me that Indian selectors usually select experienced guys over young guns, young guns often fail in under pressure situations or playing matches with high stakes involved (i.e, Final) , while experienced guys like Kohli (whether like him or not), they can survive such situations, and more often than not, take your team to the winning shore, even in ODI world cup, Kohli's wicket was turning point. Rahul tried but succumbed to the pressure. Look how Aussies selectors didn't pick Jake Fraser McGurk either despite his blazing performance in BBL and IPL. |

The match between Scotland and England ended in no result but I failed to understand which team benefited from this rain interrupted draw match. Before the match, I though that the England team is favorite but seeing the Scotland batting, I think they were in a position to make a big score and give a challenging target to the England team.
George Munsey and Michael Jones both openers from Scotland remained not out and added a 90 runs opening partnership without losing a wicket. Had the play was not interrupted by the rain, there were chances that they could have score 180+ runs and it could be a good target to give to England. ]
Thing with such teams is they don't have balanced department in both the sections to emerge victorious (i.e, bowling and batting) if particular has good battling, they tend to perform poor in bowling and thus unable to defend even good scores. Something like RCB in IPL. Look, I don't know much about Scotland cricket (and this was ofc abandoned), so idk how exactly they are, it's just something I say from observation in other matches. |

Finally Afghanistan do according to my expectations. They played really well. Fisrt of all I appreciate the first partnership. They were amazing. Afghanistan lost first wicket at 154 runs. That was excellent. After that the whole team managed to score 183 runs. Means 184 runs target was very high for Uganda team. After batting Afghanistan showed their power in bowling too. Especially I will give the whole credit to the one bowler he is Fazalhaq Farooqi he collected 5 wickets and gave only 9 runs. He is the player of the match and he deserved that. Excellent performance by Afghanistan. Congratulations to them on their amazing win.  Afghanistan did good, but they could have done much better, they fell like dominoes after the first fall of wicket, and gathered mere 31 runs in last 6 overs, I expected 230+ score the way Afghan openers were going. |

Despite this thrashing win, Afghanistan has lot to learn this game, the way they lost wickets after the fall of first wicket, and didn't musher up much runs either.
The way West Indies played against PNG , I would not consider their spot in Super 8 guaranteed, and would not be surprised if Afghanistan manages to reach Super 8 instead of WI, AFG is also having huge NRR in points table after this thrashing win, so they are at advantage anyhow.
WI should have tried to capitalize against PNG that they could have got NRR boost but they just did enough to win the match.
