841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My List of Altcoins - Discussion and Predictions on: December 25, 2023, 01:53:58 AM
I don't feel attracted to any of coins you mentioned tbh. Shiba Inu, already increased a lot, I don't buy coins which are already popular. Elon coin sounds shitcoin. XLM fair choice I guess, this has been in market since long time but I see no hype around it.
842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin season coming soon? on: December 25, 2023, 01:44:23 AM
It has already started, there may be some downward moment here and there but overall we seem to be in up trend. There is still lot to come. One should get in if hasn't already.

Yes, we will get there soon, but the question is, how certain are we that the altcoin we are about to invest into or invest into or hodl in our portfolio as the case may be will increase in value during the bull market? Or will they not end up in our hands as lost investments as we hodl them in hopes of making a lot of money?

With this kind of mindset of multiple value during the bull run, many investors have lost their money on altcoins because of that and experience it during the last bull run, which occurred around 2021.

They lost their investment on altcoin because they intended to hodl it for multiple gains, and the price of the altcoin got dumped into their hands at a cheap price.

You should always take profit. We never know when market will take opposite direction. In bulls everything rises, it could be useless shitcoins (as lot of brc20 tokens right now), while in bears everything useless perishes.

I do not believe in such news too but if this is not true then still what is the purpose of spreading these rumours?

Getting eyeballs to their website.

It will not have any impact on any team and also not on Hardik Pandya but still, it could be the fact that he may not play for any medical or whatever reasons.

We'll see that on ground Tongue

By the way, one player is not over the tournament and there will be people replacing him and also performing as good as like him.

Well, ofc but imo it makes difference. Like Pandya instead of Surya in wc

/sorry not sorry
844  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 24, 2023, 04:08:41 PM
^^ I didn't hear anything regarding this on Twitter handle I follow for cricket updates so searched it up and all these site's headlines are like this:

Will Hardik Pandya miss ipl 2024?

Rohit Sharma may captain MI as uncertainity looms over Pandya's return.

Hardik Pandya unlikely to play ipl 2024

Hardik Pandya doubtful for IPL 2024

Pandya uncertain for ipl 2024

There is no confidence in this statements, I would ignore such news. Still, if these statements were made from site like Espncricinfo/crickbuzz which I trust to an extent I'd heed.

Activating 2FA on my account can be a problem as it would jeopardize my identity if it gets hacked.

If you meant hacker getting access to your bitcointalk account, 2fa can only increase your account's security not jeopardize it. Because to get access, user will now require both pass and 2fa code.

With recent events happening with a Bitcoin mixer campaign I don't feel confident with the way Theymos wrote while introducing it. It might be my theory but there are big privacy issues with 2FA considering it is a product of the US. Aiming in mind the current situation here and what is happening globally I would ignore it for my betterment.

2fa is not product, it's one of measures websites can use to protect their users. I'm pretty certain there is no privacy concerns on it's implementation or if it belongs to particular country/jurisdiction, cmiiw.

846  Other / Meta / Re: 2FA added on: December 24, 2023, 03:12:19 PM
IMO, it would have been better if the only way user could recover lost 2fa was through staked btc address (make staking btc address mandatory before enabling 2fa).

This will stop email being a weak link to get into the account.

I completely agree to this, but I will add the note that there's a pretty good chance that people who cannot take proper care of Bitcointalk password, they will be as careless with their e-mail account and identically careless about 2FA and bitcoin wallet seed.

It's upto them. In 2fa's current implementation I don't find it any better than default email/uname+pass combo. 2FA is supposed to save your account from email breaches.

To people having trouble with 2fa backups, You can use Aegis authenticator, import & export with file. Android only.

In all AI for scammers is a blessing in disguise.
It might sound paranoid but these things are helping propel scams and induce more mental health problems in the society - something that we will witness in the upcoming years. You cannot trust anything on the internet anymore and be skeptical about everything that is too good to be true.

Indeed, deepfake has become very good lately, on first glance videos look as if they are genuine. In future ai is only going to better, and harder to distinguish.

Look at this: https://youtube.com/shorts/Mfje9lsY65c?

I used to see YouTube advert saying, "markets ups and downs bothering you? Start trading futures/options today" and was wondering how would futures/options would help with market ups/downs, they can ofc help user in losing money faster if market goes against your direction.
It is a method to grab those who have a pestering mindset of why they are not able to make money in a sideways market. Remember when the bitcoin market was being stagnant and we have this boom of margin and leverage trading? Its similar because the lack of up or down movement means a lack of exchanges getting paid trading fees so they introduce margin and leverage and start promoting it on media.

Oh, makes sense. Margin trading is insanely profitable for exchanges, I didn't know this until I started using coindcx.
848  Other / Meta / Re: Has anyone here received bitcointalk phishing emails? on: December 24, 2023, 08:55:08 AM
But sometimes Bitcointalk reports legit links as phishing or suspicious once any member sends links in private messages.

Afaik that only applies if you receive pm from newbie account, but email is still from bitcointalk.

I don't receive any phishing emails I am confused about what you trying to say so what exactly do you mean by "you cross about scammers may now phish 2fa"?

Assume you have 2fa enabled on your binance account. You may receive phishing mails for your 2fa code. I was implying this could become thing for bitcointalk for as well, since this forum now has 2fa.

Quote
Theymos already added 2FA if you receive an email from Bitcointalk it's not phishing email check the topic below

Better check carefully the email you receive if the email is not a bitcointalk then it is a phishing email.

I'm aware of that.

It is about keeping ourselves safe as well. He might gain interest in learning but we never know what is the mind of those people who know our finances. I'd rather look simple and empty so people don't care about us.

Those people who care about you only when you have something, are to be stay away from. There is quote I read long ago; money is a relative term. It brings so many relatives.

850  Other / Meta / Has anyone here received bitcointalk phishing emails? on: December 24, 2023, 05:57:27 AM
Was reading 2fa topic, and thought crossed about scammers may now phish for 2fa codes, then realized I have never received password phishing mails in first place.

Have you?

852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Solana - Is it still good to buy or it's FOMO on: December 24, 2023, 03:43:34 AM
Solana keeps rising and you are feeling like buying it, is definitely a fomo, but I feel solana is going to make ath high this time around, there is a lot of hype around it and we have just entered bull market, you know what that does to the projects.

What's this? How can team like NZ get bowled out at 98 against team like Bangladesh? Or is it that NZ didn't care to win the match because they already won the series?
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Succeeded in introducing Bitcoin to a friend on: December 24, 2023, 02:46:27 AM
My question now is that is it wise that I showed him the amount of Bitcoins I have accumulated before he developed interest?

I don't think so.

Why ?

I think it's not a big deal because Op mentioned that he was his old friend so there's no issue with the physical attacks as there some such cases already exist.

You never really know, I'd prefer to not tell anything sensitive to anyone tbh. Also, I don't think there was real reason to show accumulated amounts to his friend, it could be avoided.

He met his old friend after 10 years, people completely change in this much time.
856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Airdrops speculations thread on: December 24, 2023, 02:33:37 AM
I've never won anything from an airdrop, I have no idea how to know which ones can give coins.

Can anyone give a tip on where to search? Is there any place that reports on this?

The golden years are over. A couple of years ago you had pretty huge airdrops that gave a lot of people a nice extra (i.e. bitcoincash) but nowadays it is hard to find real good ones. Don't get me wrong, if you google around, you will find hundreds of airdrops but none of them are really worth anything. The requirements to join one are real easy though.

Ah c'mon, that's quite ignorant statement. Bitcoin cash was long ago, there have been plenty significant airdrops since then and you didn't require holding btc to earn them.

If there is already requirement published, that airdrop won't be worth good. You've been hunting for airdrops at wrong place.
857  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Follow the technique if you have zero trading knowledge in crypto on: December 24, 2023, 02:24:37 AM
Even a newbie can survive and make decent profits in the bull run, the point is that survival should be analyzed by the performance of the trader in the bear market, and in the bull market we can differentiate between an expert and newbies with his existing plans. Becasue a good trader always stay conscious about the exit plan, to save profits.

Absolutely correct, it's easy to make money in bull market or in crypto, if I should say so myself. But, rare are the ones who manage to secure it.

I was zero knowledge with crypto trading  but Belive me my 90% trade was successfully profit gainer with just maintenance following technique.
Hitting winners 9 times out of 10? That kind of hot streak definitely can't last.  At some point, your luck will run dry.  Maybe it already has.

That happens in bull market to many people, and this makes them consider themselves better than they are, and then bears strike and everything goes into the drain.

Don't worry op, I'm not offending you, I have been there. You'll learn.

Unsubscribe/Unsubscribe preferences links still doesn't work in your emails.
It is working for me. What happens when you click on the unsubscribe preferences?

Nothing happens, no click is registered. I thought this could be an issue on my end, so I tried unsubscribing from other newsletter, there it worked fine.

For LeetBit troubleshooting purposes, I use protonmail and accessing it via mask browser on android device running android 13. If you need anything else, let me know.

GT should play Wade instead of Saha as wk batter this time around, he has been playing good in BBL and also played well in bilateral t20 series against India.
