There is a lot of speculation about BTC, some rely on what Robert Kiyosaki says, who predicted that BTC will go down and fall to $90k, which I do not agree with.

On the other hand, this analysis seems very accurate to me:

and a nice chart:

I have seen Robert Kiyosaki's name bandied about in this thread lately and I cannot understand why.  He's a bullshit artist imo and I would not recommend taking his advice  - especially not on Bitcoin.

 Nice post by the way.

Hulkster probably saw a future where his buddy "Bubba the Love Sponge" would get the stage on the main event every month simply because of his seniority once they unionized and it was the one thing that was capable of scaring the living shit out of him.

What hash rate and electrical use will bitcoin be using at 1 million evaluation?

how much money, energy and lives are used to secure humanity's wealth?

Life is energy; energy is life.  The more the merrier.

I was about to write this as the last verse of my last Sunday haiku:

...
200 proof soon!

And then I wondered. Does it actually exist? Googling (Wikipedia) revealed that the highest possible proof is 175, which corresponds to 100% alcohol content.

Too many syllables for the haiku, too low a price for BTC/USD... $175k is for ants. Got to find another metric soon. One that goes to millions. Sorry Phil.

Edit: according to Gemini, there exists a beverage called Spirytus vodka, which is a rectified spirit that comes in at 192 proof. Also, Gemini claims that 100% alcohol content corresponds to 200 proof. Perhaps I should have included the verse after all. But still, $200k is way too low.

Edit 2: in the US, proof = 2 x alcohol content percentage (by volume, a.k.a. % ABV). In the UK, proof = 1.75 x % ABV. Makes more sense now.

Wow!  Who knew there was an Imperial and a Metric version for alcohol content?  Not that I would drive under the influence but I wonder if that would be a valid defence?

Homer's Word of the Day: pompatus

Pronunciation: /pɒmˈpætəs/ ("pomp-uh-tus")

Part of Speech: Noun

Definition: A playful, made-up term used to describe a mysterious, soulful, or charismatic attitude or phenomenon, often with a sense of irony or humor.

Example Sentence:

Due to the pompatus of weather, the Steve Miller Band has canceled their entire tour slated for 2025.

Damn! I was hoping to be at one of those venues with my little brother.  They had so many great songs.
He could have sold carbon offsets along with the tickets instead... jeez.

xcancel

edit: been doing some research and I have a feeling it had more to do with ticket sales than weather... sometimes you go with your accountant's instincts.  Guess there aren't a lot of fans still alive.

Russia’s Sberbank Plans to Launch Bitcoin and Crypto Custody Services

Quote
Sberbank, Russia’s largest lender, plans to offer custody services for cryptocurrency assets, aiming to lead the country’s digital asset infrastructure as demand for bitcoin and crypto services grows.

The move comes as Russia’s central bank has softened its stance on digital assets, recently supporting legislation that allows businesses to use bitcoin and crypto in international trade to bypass Western sanctions imposed on Russia over its conflict in Ukraine.

The executive director of Sberbank Anatoly Pronin said the bank has submitted proposals to the central bank regarding the regulation of bitcoin and crypto assets. He noted that more banks globally are starting to offer custody services, and Sberbank wants to ensure Russia isn’t left behind.

Pronin explained that the bank’s proposals would regulate bitcoin and crypto assets similarly to traditional bank accounts. Sberbank would act as a custodian, guaranteeing the security of tokens and providing safeguards against hacking and unauthorized access. Assets could also be frozen if law enforcement suspects illegal activity.

Custody services are essential for making bitcoin and crypto transactions safer. Gleb Zemskoy, director of blockchain and digital currency development at Insight Finance, emphasized the importance of local custody, saying, “The custodian is the backbone of the world’s economy in terms of cryptocurrencies. And at the moment, it is in the hands of private foreign companies, which indicates a huge risk.”

On June 2, the bank also launched a structured bond linked to the performance of Bitcoin and the USD-to-ruble exchange rate. The product allows qualified investors to earn returns based on BTC price movement and the dollar’s strength.

“All transactions are processed in rubles within Russia’s legal and infrastructure systems,” Sberbank stated.

That's good news for Bitcoin - the more hodlers the better.  As an aside, every time I saw the Sberbank name in the past I wondered if they had a rigorous enough name validation process or it was more like Homer Simpson's process when he named Bart... "Let's see... Bart, Cart, Dart, E-art... Nope! Can't see any problem with that!"  Anyway, I don't suppose they care what I think but...

They probably should have gone with сберегат банк instead - just my two sats.

"Hello everyone, I'm Ray White Jr., custodian and inheritor of the SatoshiNakomoto repository. I'm here to connect with like-minded individuals and share insights on cryptographic provenance and Bitcoin's legacy."

"OMG!  T-h-e ray White - 'great grandson of James Morgan', 'vise (sic) president at SOMEcorporation' and now custodian and inheritor of the SatoshiNakomoto repository?"
"With credentials like that, I bet you have a secret handshake, a family motto and a Batcave too!"
"To what do we owe this grand honour and why are we writing everything in quotations?"
"Trouble in the Homeland?  Do you need some upfront cash for legal fees, taxes, bribes, or other fictitious charges before you can release your newfound riches to us?"
"Unfortunately, we're not allowed to discuss serious matters like 'cryptographic provenance' or 'Bitcoin's legacy' in this thread (otherwise we'd never be able to keep up with JJG) so you'll have to search out or create a new one."

Speaking of Peter Schiff, where is that other bozo, Nouriel Roubini?

At least Schiff is quasi-entertaining to watch. Roubini is more toxic than pouring sulphuric acid in a toilet bowl.

He's too infatuated with T-word alliterations to dis Donald Trump and his economic policies these days to worry about Bitcoin.

I've got a B-word alliteration headline for him though:

Bitcoin's Bullish Bursts Boldly Breaking Barriers Belittling Bozo Roubini's Boundless Bullshit
