Welcome to Bitcointalk forum
2  Economy / Gambling / Re: Q01 - What's your favourite casino and what makes this casino best one? :) on: May 28, 2024, 11:06:44 AM
<snip>
The forum actually lumps up all altcoin related marketing as bounties, reason why they all get posted in the Bounty (altcoin) section. They commonly include some other form of marketing like social media tasks, but they mostly include signatures too and are collectively called bounties.

A task in the service board that pay in Bitcoin is not commonly called a bounty, but what task is required, could be a review campaign or article writing. This is just the common parlance used here.
3  Economy / Gambling / Re: Q01 - What's your favourite casino and what makes this casino best one? :) on: May 28, 2024, 10:47:57 AM
If I may ask, what’s a signature campaign? I have seen many posts about hiring a signature campaign manager, but I haven’t found out what it is...
A signature campaign is where a project pays users of the forum to wear their signature and make a minimum amount of posts each week. Each time they post the signature is visible under the post with all important links of the project they're promoting. All of these is managed by a user who picks participants to join and checks the posts each week before making payments.
Take a look here for overview of all sig campaigns that pay in Bitcoin - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953

A campaign which doesn't pay in Bitcoin is called a bounty campaign and there's also a board for that.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: UK brexit and rejoin with Europe and economy on: May 28, 2024, 09:50:05 AM
Brexit was not the cause of the problems you highlighted or many of them being experienced in the UK. There are lots of underlying issues in different sectors which needs attending to and until those internal problems are fixed the UK will continue to experience the results of those problems.
Brexit has nothing to do with the binance issue. Binance was restricted by the UK and has been in other countries as well.

Many people belive that If UK don't rejoin again than this country will fall definately will fall those who hold UK currency better not hold it.
Rejoining the EU is not an easy task either. There are countries who have made applications several years ago and are still awaiting a positive outcome. Best to hope for is a candidate country status, but with how brexit went about even that may not be possible for another couple of years.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold and Bitcoin prices: the surprising relationship on: May 28, 2024, 09:31:20 AM
You should always include the link where you got your info from, especially if you're going to write it exactly as it's written there - https://cryptoprofits.substack.com/p/gold-and-bitcoin-prices-the-surprising
Not including the source of your information can be termed plagiarism, especially if you don't state it's not your original content.

On the correlation between gold and Bitcoin for it to be taken into account, one would have to correlate the relationship between Bitcoin and other assets as well as gold and other assets. A positivemarket usually affects many assets in the same way leading to same results.
6  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: idea to trace through instant exchanges (fixedflow, changenow, etc) on: May 27, 2024, 07:57:53 PM
Instant exchange platforms like FixedFloat and ChangeNOW are often used by hackers and criminals to obscure the trail of their transactions.
Cash is more often used by scammers to obscure the trail of transactions, should we start working on a system to track every note spent? Crypto transactions accounts for an insignificant amount of illegal txs but gets almost all of the scrutiny, making it more difficult for those who simply wants privacy to get that.

Why haven't commercial tracing platforms, such as Chainalysis, implemented a similar method to trace funds after they pass through these instant exchange platforms?
Maybe cause they'll need to invest a huge amount of money for it to be done naturally and successfully. If it's successful you only get one bust and everyone avoids that platform, so it will not be worth the reward in the end.
7  Economy / Gambling / Re: ♣️ CoinPoker.com ♣️ Play Crypto Poker Online - 💰 $2,000 Welcome Bonus! on: May 27, 2024, 05:00:18 PM
For every deposit you make? Isn't it only for the first deposit? I've been looking at the site, the promo, the terms and conditions and I think it's only for the first deposit. If it is as you say, can you post the link to where it says so?
You're right, it's reserved for the first deposit up to $2000 and there are other terms and conditions the players should be aware of before getting into it.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $1,200 stimulus check in 2020 = $12,392 in 2024 on: May 27, 2024, 03:04:11 PM
With $33 for monthly DCA, last four years, you will spend $1,221 so far, and its value now would be $2,500. Profit is good enough with small $33 DCA every week.
And for most of the time from 2020 till now we've been in a bull run with very high prices, yet one still comes away with a profit when they DCA. If you DCA then and do so during a bear market when the price is low and dropping, the profit margin will be way higher than that.

11  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Make people no dey conclude for waiting them no know about on: May 26, 2024, 06:22:30 PM
For me e no really matter at all. Crypto still don grow so much for Nigeria despite those who are negative about it without any knowledge of it. As a community make we focus on the positive side and how far we have come in just a couple of years.

The way I see it, the more people hesitate to get into it the more benefits you get as an early adopter.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hashrate increases. on: May 25, 2024, 06:16:00 PM
I think instead of spending more electricity fee than the mined BTC value, why not buy BTC directly.
If it's not profitable for you, just buy Bitcoin. Mining has conditions that have to be considered which is dependent on where you live, how much you can get electricity and how easily you can get equipments. If the odds are stacked up against you; buying and hodling is more straight forward and does not have any surprises that can affect your earnings.
13  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Some thoughts on ETH ETFs and ETFs of other coins and SEC on: May 25, 2024, 06:01:33 PM
This entire "Security or commodity" battle looks to not be ending anytime soon. I am indifferent to the position the SEC reaches on ETH and all tokens under it, but this decision is sure to have a wave like effect on other coins and blockchains which are set up exactly the way ETH is.

Maybe we can do a poll at some point to know the percentage of the crypto community genuinely bothered about ETF rulings and if a coin is a security or not.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Please need help on: May 25, 2024, 02:13:41 PM
2020/21 isn't so long ago. There were already lots of good wallets to use and with a bit of search you'll avoid any private key stealing software. The question now would be if you made any grave mistake and did not properly backup your wallet.

How long is this wallet number and does it have any other characters in it as well?
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Converting bitcoin to fiat without problems on: May 25, 2024, 01:49:57 PM
You shouldn't be asking how to not get questioned by the bank but what answers to give if you get such questions. If Bitcoin is legal in your country, then proceeds from Bitcoin investment sales is a good reason for the sum you would be receiving into your account. You can also exchange in installments, so you don't get one huge sum at the same time;
For example, in some regions, amounts above $10,000 will be queried, but not $9,900 done twice.

Remember to document the txid from when you bought Bitcoin and when you sold.

About tax authorities you may need to speak to an advisor who will guide you on how to fill your tax report. Tax laws vary from country to country and even within states in the same country so you'll need to have accurate information on your tax obligations and possible loopholes that allow you spend less.
16  Other / Meta / Re: Wouldn't it be nice for edited posts to reflect on wherever it was quoted? on: May 25, 2024, 01:26:14 PM
When you remember that I can quote a post and write literally anything into it, you will start to see that it matters little if the original content changes or not.

Quoting is also used as a way to lock in staked addresses on this forum. If quotes will get edited too with the main text then scammers can get away changing addresses that were originally used. The post scrappers already makes that impossible to get away with, but those are external sources.

The last reason I will not support this idea is it will make reading threads difficult. The reply I made at the time I quoted could easily be off topic to what it was edited to.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fixed matches group in 3rd world countries on: May 24, 2024, 08:28:47 PM
Fixed matches can occur everywhere in the world. With lower divisions that gets very little attention it's easier to determine the entire outcome of the matches but as it gets more popular the chances are from soon to zero so they switch to determining other stats of the match, number of yellow cards, fouls and corners, which player will get a yellow and so on.

The risk is much higher for professional players, but for semi professionals, they have more to potentially gain than lose.
18  Economy / Gambling / Re: ♣️ CoinPoker.com ♣️ Play Crypto Poker Online - 💰 $2,000 Welcome Bonus! on: May 24, 2024, 06:32:34 PM
Moreover, the $2,000 welcome bonus seems tempting; what are the exact requirements in order to avail of this bonus?
It's a bonus on deposit up to $2000. For every deposit you make, you get a bonus of 150%. Meaning for a $1000 deposit you will get cash back of $1,500, up to when you've deposited up to $2000.
It's a very generous offer, most casinos offer bonus on max of $500.
19  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: I lost access to Bitcoins in my made-up brainwallet on: May 24, 2024, 02:23:14 PM
I don't remember the address.
I remember the amount on 2 addresses used to fund it.
I don't remember the transaction fee.
I don't remember the year I did all this. I guess it was somewhere between 2017 and 2020.
I'm guessing the most plausible things you can remember here would be the amount and a more accurate time of transaction, this ca narrow down the search a lot further. You can try linking the action to at other event you did before or after at the time, so for example if you were taking an exam when you did this or attended a wedding. With the address you can use any available tool that works now to check that with the passphrase to know if it's valid.

If you do get the amount and it's less insignificant, it will make the 'I told you sos' more fun'.

Also do you think at that time you would have left some clues for you now to find it?
20  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin pizza day gaining more relvance. on: May 24, 2024, 02:04:30 PM
It's deficult to talk to a youth that's not a trader or isn't doing a freelancing job that has exposed him to Bitcoin.
An average Nigeria dey wired to look for opportunities for themselves. When you have no general.support system on which you can rely you have to be very creative and Nigerian youths are very, very creative in searching out how to make a living. You fit find the same creativity and knack for seeking out opportunities in other developing nations.

I dey very surprised say we celebrate Bitcoin pizza dey here, but thinking about it I shouldn't be. We are one of the largest crypto market so it's as possible to such events here as it is any other place in the world.
