881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: June 14, 2023, 09:23:21 PM
Anyone who is ashamed to have their kids know at least the basics of what it is must be using cryptocurrency for fraud or something illegal.
It's not about shame but more of the age Gap that is appropriate to introduce a a child to financial education, we should let kids be kids for as long as possible while being intentional about their development.

As for parents that actually take on the responsibility of introducing their kids to Bitcoin and the financial world they should know that they are taking up the role of the teacher and should research fun ways to educate a child and not just force them to read the whitepaper or something like that.
882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A portion of my clothing store's weekly profit is invested in Bitcoin on: June 14, 2023, 09:01:34 PM
I realized that I can earn money by investing in Bitcoin.
You don't earn money from investing in bitcoin, rather the value of Bitcoin can appreciate in value against the currency it is paired against. it does not give you passive income (you have to sell to gain or lose) and there are no guarantees.
You just need to be able to hold securely for as long as it takes for the price to rise and not need to sell during lower prices.

So I want to invest in Bitcoin. So I have my weekly I decided to invest in bitcoin from a profit share. I think I made the right decision. I hope that I can use my bitcoin profit for other purposes.
DCAing is great, you're buying without the need to check the market price.
Next step is to have secure, non-custodial wallet and have secure backups for your wallet.
883  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are the analogues of the site BestChange? on: June 14, 2023, 05:46:59 PM
Your topic title and the thread contents does not give enough information on what your inquiry is.

If you have a question to ask regarding BestChange service, ask in this thread
Or you can rephrase you thread to get a more neutral opinion from the community.
884  Economy / Economics / Re: Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: June 13, 2023, 08:17:09 PM
Let's assume, you are well capable enough to buy a new property through bank loan. Your income supports the mortgage payment so banks are willing to lend you money.
This would depend on what interest you pay on the loan and how long you can take to pay it back. If you can comfortably pay back after a determined period of time and have job security then buying is the better option
For financial advice it's best to consult the services of a professional.
885  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is the best board to focus on as a newbie in the forum? on: June 13, 2023, 08:03:43 PM
I find it easier to post on gambling, economics, politics and several others, but I want to know which board to focus more on as a newbie, what's your say on this?
You listed out three others and included several others, that is enough discussions, no pressure to include other boards.

Posting where you find it easy means you are posting where your interests lies. You don't have to change this except you have other areas of Bitcoin that you are interested in learning.
886  Other / Meta / Re: How do you like the idea? on: June 13, 2023, 05:43:57 AM
You highlighted the problem of sources not being active on every board and even having some on ignore.
A practical solution would be to increase the number of sources and make it so that a good post regardless of where it is posted would be found out.

Users, whether they are sources or not, can choose to make threads to offer merit, that's their own perspective of how the view merit giving, it doesn't apply to everyone. What matters is they are exhausting their source merit and being liberal when sharing it.
887  Other / Meta / Re: Old posts aren't moderated on: June 12, 2023, 09:15:36 PM
Why old posts aren't moderated?
It doesn't say the posts are not moderated at all, you listed out the conditions where such old posts are not usually moderated;
on-topicness, substantiveness, multi-posting, and other "cleanliness" issues.
They would be moderated for other cases, but there is little reason to try to clean up spam from 2019 which no one reads anymore when there are spam posts now which needs cleaning up.

Today, when I was browsing the altcoin section, found a thread from 2018 (necro bumped by someone). I wanted to report a few replies from the first page but stepped down because of the above warning.
If you report the Necro post the thread disappears under the rubble of posts.
888  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why Bitcoin an exceptional figure among other coins on: June 12, 2023, 09:06:17 PM
Just a little correction on this statement, bitcoin is not the most decentralized digital currency in cryptocurrency, but rather the only decentralized digital currency in cryptocurrency, other coins are alts and have their own mining through the use of PoS and you know what that means, you can read better on PoS.
All alts do not use PoS and their level of centralization (or decentralization) varies wildly. Monero is one that comes to mind that uses a version of PoW and has high levels of decentralization and privacy.
On the most part they are shitcoins which are heavily centralized, but to different degrees.
889  Economy / Economics / Re: App to monitor financial world events - what are you using ? on: June 12, 2023, 03:21:07 PM
I do it manually by searching through financial news for what's relevant at the time. The danger of relying on a single source is you get to see only what they show you and overtime can have a biased perspective or a limited view of things. Similar to watching just one news channel.

You can turn on notifications for financial blogs or social accounts which would inform you once there's an update for you to check.
890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Muun Is Holding My Funds Due to Bitcoin High Fees on: June 12, 2023, 03:15:54 PM
FixedFloat will forget your transaction after 30 minutes and so if sent way after 30 minutes, my money is sent to the void.
If you enabled RBF when creating the transaction try bumping the fee.
Or try double spending the inputs to cancel the initial transaction.

Will Muun cancelled the pending LN transaction after 24 hours or will it stay like that until on-chain fees are low again? If on-chain fees stay high, will the Muun wallet cancel that pending LN transaction? (I asked because I used a low fee so very certain that on-chain tx will not be mined in 24 hours) If the latter, have my money gone to the void? Need some clarity. Thanks.
There is no 24 hour window for on chain transactions, it takes an average of 2 weeks for majority of nodes to drop a transaction from their mempool.
There is also no void where transactions go, it goes to another address it all depends if you have access to that address.
891  Other / New forum software / Re: Progress? We're waiting... on: June 11, 2023, 10:20:08 AM
It's been about 5 years since then, I'm close to 50 and I'm still waiting,
I registered around the same time and also met the same talk about the new forum software being ready "soon". Comparing the talk about it then with now, it's obvious a lot of users are no longer anticipating it and have resigned to the fact that it would my be ready soon.

Let's give it the next 5 years and see what progress we make.
892  Other / Meta / Re: Text size while posting reply on: June 11, 2023, 10:15:37 AM
There seems to be nothing wrong from the screenshot you shared. I just did a text run (pun intended) on my mobile browser and got the exact same text size.

how to fix it?
If you're worried about it then go to settings > Accessibility > Text scaling and then adjust it to your preference.
893  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost 2.03 BTC via bitcoinpaperwallet.com Am I wasting my time trying to recover? on: June 11, 2023, 09:57:43 AM
I feel like reporting or even trying to sue Sarkis Sarkissian (new owner of the bitcoinpaperwallet) would cost me even more headaches and waste of time since not guaranteed that I will get my money back. Do you happen to know any success stories or any recommendations on what I should do?
Sorry for your loss mate.

You would have little success with a suit against the new owner (scammer) and as you pointed out it would cost you more in finances and stress. You could instead start building your Bitcoin stash and using better security protocol, like only using a reputable, non custodian, open source wallet (hardware or software).
894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's market position inflation corrected on: June 11, 2023, 09:51:21 AM
1. Bitcoin is FIAT-bounded, and through exchange rates, has a worse inflation rate as FIAT.
Your assumption makes little sense to me, first being paired to fiat does not make Bitcoin "fiat bound". What does fiat bound even mean?
And Bitcoin did not suffer inflation at all to have had a worse inflation that fiat currencies, it's a deflationary asset.

2. Nearly every aggregator and exchange which is showing Bitcoin rates not indlation corrected is scamming! (To pump FIAT in the market.)
This makes no sense again. Your banks are also supposed to show you the value in your account adjusted for inflation, no?
895  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is ahead is very dangerous on: June 11, 2023, 09:41:52 AM
I have always maintained that airdrops should be avoided altogether cause they pose more risks than potential of profits. This may seem like an overkill to some but engaging in something that risks your privacy and your assets at the same time with little promise of getting any substantial value out of it should be avoided.
896  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Crypto another form of gambling? on: June 09, 2023, 04:55:08 PM
2. Take risky action in the hope of a desired result.

The second one seems to fit crypto best, so it's clear they know what they are saying.
They don't. If we take that definition by face value then;
• Investing in real estate,
• Buying any form of stock,
• Starting a business,
• Running for a political office,
• Even proposing to your partner.
All of the above should be considered as gambling and regulated as such.

They do not know what they are saying neither are they trying to understand it, they just want to slam some form of regulation on Bitcoin and are finding a way to justify it.
897  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Need tips/help with transfering BTC from old Ledger to new HW wallet on: June 09, 2023, 04:49:38 PM
My BTC is KYC since I bought them from Binance and Coinbase, and these exchanges have my information.
Could you elaborate a bit more about these mixer & tumbler services? Is it something that you consider "necessary" for future privacy?
I consider it necessary especially if you're someone that is very particular about your privacy and it's not only used by someone that has something to hide, but by someone who does not want to have their information laying on the internet for anyone to exploit.
Many people do not mix their coins and have not been doxxed yet, but if your privacy is already compromised it's something that cannot be repaired; your details would always be potential public information.

There are also options to centralized exchanges that doesn't require KYC.
898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which platform is safe to store Bitcoin and can’t be hacked ? on: June 09, 2023, 12:57:46 PM
Cold Storages are generally considered the most secure type of platforms to store your bitcoin, it's basically because they don't always have a live connection, wallet is online only when you connect the hardware into the system.
With an airgapped device cold storage you never need to connect your private keys to the internet. You can create and broadcast your transactions on a watch only wallet, using the wallet that contains your private keys to just sign tx, which does not require internet connection to do.
899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend interested in investing in BTC but the friend's father does not agree on: June 09, 2023, 12:52:14 PM
But my friend is not listening and instead he will invest on Bitcoin. I don't know what kind of suggestion I should make to my friend in such a situation. Should I ask my friend to invest in Bitcoin? Or ask to pay more attention to his job?
Bitcoin does not take attention away from his job, it's just the potential issues of handling a banned asset especially while working in the government that banned it.
You don't bear the investment risk so you cannot ask your friend to invest or not, you can only give your opinion; Mine is that if the risk surpasses the potential return, then it's not worth it. It's very possible for someone to hold Bitcoin while maintaining their pseudoanonymity, but your friend might not be that experienced.
900  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cz or the Sec who would you support? on: June 08, 2023, 05:17:41 AM
I'm never been a fan of centralized exchanges or government overbearing solutions, but very little is known about the case to draw a conclusion.
Bitcoiners don't have to pick a side.
