921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Fud or Its Reality? BTC is Down Again on: June 05, 2023, 07:03:49 PM
people are exiting from the market as i mentioned above and volume is decreasing which is a bad sign. The dominance of BTC will decrease. I wonder what would have created so much panic among lower-class traders and investors who have exited the market. I
People are not exiting the market, they are exiting the exchange in question, they hold such a significant amount of Bitcoin that the news of them getting sued is enough to cause a wide spread panic among their investors.

There might also be some that would panic sell cause of the expected drop in price, or some that would try to short Bitcoin for a profit.
922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People are giving too much importance to exchanges on: June 05, 2023, 06:57:24 PM
The market is determined by sentiments, bearish and bullish sentiments of traders affect how the price changes. Binance are one of the biggest holders of Bitcoin, FTX had a large amount deposited with them, so it's only natural that the many holders of Bitcoin there would cause of a negative news on those platforms panic and that in turn that sentiment will affect the price.

In the long run as a BTC holder you should not be too worried. The effect of those news last for just a couple of days at best and the market corrects.

I would hope it would teach many not to deposit their bitcoins on centralized exchanges but that's not the case.
923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin halving countdown on: June 05, 2023, 07:10:20 AM
You can draw your own estimate to when the next halving would be;
• You know the halving occurs every 210,000 blocks and we're expecting the 4th halving next year,
• Subtract the current block height from 840,000 (the block height of the next halving).
• That should be 47,065 blocks.
• From here you can multiply that by the time you think we would have between blocks. The average time is 10 minutes but this is not fixed.
• You can run your estimates using expected changes in hashrate over the next months.

When you arrive at a figure there's a huge chance yours would be different from the estimates of different websites.
924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quick Bitcoin questions on: June 04, 2023, 09:47:47 PM
Is payment the substantial use case of crypto?
Bitcoin has many use cases depending on who's holding them. To an international business like a casino accepting payment in Bitcoin is faster and cheaper than the other options. It can function effectively as both a store of value and a payment solution.

isn't the cheaper always the better choice?
No, the most secure is the better choice.

925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin terminologies and their challenges for newbies. on: June 04, 2023, 09:30:40 PM
7: Private Key - This is a set of alphabets and numbers associated with wallets to show you are the right owner if you can produce them to claim the bitcoin in it.

8: Seedphrase - This is a set of words like a password to a wallet. I see it is also like a private key.
• Private keys are used to sign transactions and not provided to claim bitcoins. Nodes verify that the bitcoins being spent are valid with that private key before validating the transaction.

• Seedphrases are not passwords.

Welcome to bitcointalk forum. You have a unique name, I'm quite surprised you could use it without needing to add numerals or special characters; I'll be looking forward to seeing your username more in discussions.

Electrum is a good choice for a software wallet, for extra security use it on an airgapped device which would never be connected to the internet. Some suggest you only go for more security when you get a large amount of bitcoins but if you have a spare PC laying around you can put it to use.

On the browser you're using, Duckduckgo is another alternative I have been using for several years now.
927  Economy / Economics / Re: The future Will be just the copy paste but on blockchain here is how on: June 04, 2023, 06:41:21 PM
USD Will be never worthless , it Will be changed to digital.
You're contradicting you original post about the old system collapsing, also, going digital does not solve the problems present in the current fiat system or the expected ones in the future.

The way the printers are going crazy with new notes, we would have minters pushing out new tokens an driving it to inflation.
928  Economy / Economics / Re: The future Will be just the copy paste but on blockchain here is how on: June 03, 2023, 08:00:03 PM
Those who hold USDT and USDC Will be richest people on earth becouse everybody Will need USDC and USDT to buy food, oil, and everything else
USD would be worthless but USDT would make people the richest on Earth  Huh

I think I will differ a little bit because bitcoin isn’t pegged to bitcoin. So should dollar devalues then it is only the currency, it will not affect any one to lose value of there funds except those that have a reserve in dollars. The countries that also uses dollar as their currency will only suffer this impact.
The OP was referring to a collapse of the entire fiat system and not USD precisely, so if there's such an economic collapse cryptocurrencies would not be spared at least during the early days. After a while we would have emerging industries which would serve as the new financial system and Bitcoin would be one of them.
929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fed didn't stop to paused on: June 03, 2023, 07:50:22 PM
This thread would fit better in the economics board and not Bitcoin discussion.

And when Lorreta Mester said this, the value of Bitcoin immediately fell by 2% in the market.
This is a volatile market, there does not have to be a reason for a 2% change in the price and the fact that a statement was put our prior to the market movement does not mean it's a consequence of it.

Bitcoin has had its biggest gains in the market in the absence of any talk about interes rates or the FED, we do not always have to draw a correlation between both.
930  Economy / Economics / Re: For average Joe advice about money finances and Investment on: June 03, 2023, 02:43:26 PM
"When' you buy is not nearly as important as "what" you buy. The first step in financial education is picking the right assets to buy and learning how to diversify your portfolio properly. If you pick out the right asset to purchase you can simply dollar cost average to build your stash slowly without bothering about what happens with the interest rate and what the FED does.

When diversifying ensure you do not purchase two closely correlated assets from the same industry, but explore several investment options and choose the percentage of your capital you want to spend on them.
931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining difficulty at an all time high on: June 03, 2023, 05:22:38 AM
Why is the increase happening now, is this because of the hypes of ordinals
Cause the haahrate is at all time high.minin difficulty fokkws hashrate, id it increases then miners confirm blocks quicker than the 10 mins average and th difficulty is adjusted upwards, if the hashrate drops then it's slower to confirm blocks and the difficulty is adjusted upwards.

The major factors that affects hashrates is newer miners and improved equipments. Newer miners do not need a change in transaction fees before getting on board cause the significant lump of their pay cones from the coinbase reward.
932  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice to a Friend on: June 03, 2023, 05:06:33 AM
Advancements in the Bitcoin space is a bit slow imo, we have proposals like Taproot, ordinals and BRC-20 coming very far between unlike some other blockchains that makes full blown changes very regularly.

That being said you don't need to keep tabs with every major improvement or update and certainly should not rush into them when you're still trying to grasp previous ones. The most important thing is that they understand the basics and how to properly handle their security when storing their bitcoins and when making a transaction.
New updates sometime required attention such as how ordinals affects transaction fees, but you can do this over a couple of articles and inquiries here, without getting too technical about it.
933  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What should you look for in a DEX? on: June 02, 2023, 07:50:42 PM
It sounds cliche but you look for decentralization in a DEX. They should have about three levels of decentralization;
• Decentralized servers,
• Open source codes,
• Non custodian wallets.
These are the key factors that make an exchange a DEX and ensures they are not interfering with the transaction or the user privacy in any way.

After this you consider their mode of operation (how they mediate between transactions), ease of access or use, customer response, terms of service, liquidity etc.

You can rely on this site as a search tool, but do not trust the platforms listed on it. I think they were putting BetterCallRaul.it among the recommendations, which we discovered in the end that they are a scam, although it is clear that those who run the platform are not that professional.
That's exactly what the tool is for. It just gives ratings on different decentralized exchanges and either rates them high, fair or low with reasons for it. It's also a fluid rating which changes with more research.
934  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Danger of posting your bitcoin address online on: June 02, 2023, 07:44:16 PM
Bitcoin is pseudo anonymous, this means that while every transaction is visible on the block chain it is impossible to link an identity to the address cause the blockchain does not contain that sort of information.
When you expose your personal address you break that pseudo anonymity and every transaction to and from that address can reveal more about you;
• Other addresses you own,
• Your balance across different wallets,
• Possible centralized exchanges you use,
• Hardware wallets you use,
• Other possible informations which can be hacked from the logs of a centralized exchange you're registered on or your social media pages.

Most addresses people reveal are either zero balance wallets or are not linked to any other wallets they owm
935  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your personal debt reduction method aside the debt snowball method? on: June 02, 2023, 07:32:32 PM
Many people are in debt because they buy what they don't need. Some people have the habit of buying the advanced model of their phones, cars, and other accessories. This habit has been built over the years and it has become a tradition to them. So they spend on these items without considering their debt profile.
Many are in unavoidable debt cause the society (banks) steers them towards that path. We have mortgage debts and student loans which accounts for majority of debts that people own. They are not caused by bad spending habits or addiction to any substances.

Being in control of you financial situation and having a budget to kontior your spendings would help a lot to avoid getting into a financial crisis, but the best way is to find extra ways to earn an income and invest in assets gradually to secure funds for the future.
936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 77% into the next Bitcoin halving on: May 31, 2023, 05:26:01 PM
We may be 77% of the way to the next halving, but we're about 50% away from the next price bubble.
It's 2023, I think it's a bit old to call Bitcoin price appreciations a bubble.
A bubble in economics is an irrational increase in the price of a product, far above its intrinsic value, after which it crashes down when the demand wanes. This happened with the the tulip mania and also the housing bubble.

Bitcoin was mis-characterised to be in a bubble during the 2017 bull run due to general ignorance around it, we're five years from that now and the current price is higher than the bubble price of that cycle.
937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dad's retirement money is invested in Bitcoin! on: May 31, 2023, 05:20:25 PM
But one thing I've been wondering for a few days is if I invest half of my father's retirement allowance in Bitcoin, am I doing something wrong?
I feel like if I invest half the amount in Bitcoin for a year after receiving his retirement allowance, I might be able to hand over more money to my dad at the end of the year.
• The first rule of investing is not to stake what you cannot afford to lose. From your thread, your dad and the rest of the family are heavily dependent on the pension, putting that into a volatile asset is a risk, one you have to think long and hard before making.

• One year is a relatively short space of time. If you're going to invest in Bitcoin in the hopes of getting a return within a short period of time, you could very well be disappointed. Life situations can also come up before then that would require you to liquidate earlier.
There is also the flip side where Bitcoin rises significantly within that period and you actually can give him more money.
Consider the risk to reward ratio before making your suggestion.

Using spare money to buy Bitcoin gives you the liberty to easily wait through price dips and not panic sell.
938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best open source hardware wallets for BTC? on: May 31, 2023, 05:12:06 PM
Ledger is a good hardware wallet.
But it's not. With the whole obscurity about how they encryp your seedphrase to be able to recover your private keys should you get a new ledger device, it's best to go for the better, more transparent alternatives.

This is also not the first time ledger wallet has come under scrutiny, there have bee data breaches in the past that exposed its users to personalized scams. They also did not reveal the hack early enough but waited about a month before reporting on the hack, not giving their users a heads up to change their personal details on other platforms.

The simple way is to buy, hodl and wait for it to rise against fiat. You can also invest in a Bitcoin business like a Bitcoin ATM or wallet service. Bitcoin mining and trading are also ways to earn.
