721  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful with your identity documents and KYC on: August 22, 2023, 09:55:09 PM
Avoid giving out your personal documents and personal data because it can be used to steal all your money.
Avoid giving out personal information cause it can be used in a thousand and one ways against you and once that information is public you can never regain privacy.
You should consider any email address, password, name age and personal details you've submitted to any website to be compromised cause there is a huge black market for such information.

Do not rely on your Banks to do extra checks or on the exchange to be more careful with who the allow to register an account.
722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Metamask - Ledger Technical Question on: August 22, 2023, 09:42:19 PM
The safe option is to look for a wallet that supports the chain and store it there. Ledger cannot hold coins which belongs to a chain that's not recognized by it and when storing you have to be absolutely dureof the wallet you use.

First of all i'm sorry because my question is a bit related to Ethereum but not only Smiley
Then move it to altcoin discussion. The option to do so is at the bottom right of this page.
723  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What do you think of this address 1FeexV6bAHb8ybZjqQMjJrcCrHGW9sb6uF? on: August 21, 2023, 03:59:24 PM
I don't know what conclusion one can make about this address. Is this a person, a company or something else?
It could likely be a person. Companies especially public ones have to declare their assets and people can make educated guesses on which it is. Individuals do not have to and can stay totally under the radar.

How come that much money can be accumulated in one address and never been spent? Or there is something I don't understand?
It's simple; create a cold wallet and only send to it but never send out. It's not so difficult to do.
Also note that the address started accumulating many years ago when Bitcoin was muh cheaper than today.
724  Economy / Economics / Re: Argentine leading candidate: Pro Bitcoin, anti CentralBank, wants dollarization on: August 20, 2023, 09:53:11 AM
Internal problems a country faces can only be solved by internal changes which improves the economy. Being pro Bitcoin cannot improve the standard of living of citizens or generate more jobs or improve international trade if the country does not have exports. Same way dollarization does not boost an economy.

Best case scenario it is indicative of the willingness of the candidate to adapt to moedern solutions and could mean they can equally take drastic decisions in other areas of affairs which will have telling impact on the economy.

It can also be a way of telling people what you think they want to hear. I have not followed the election long enough to know the precedent of the candidate but sometimes or everytime politicians play a psychological game to convince people they are the best man for the job..it's less of what you plan to do and more of what you've already done.
725  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Multiple Devices, Part keys, Single Wallet Creation - Idea on: August 20, 2023, 09:39:32 AM
I think everyone today holds at least one laptop, a desktop, a tab, a smartphone, and a bunch of devices sometimes. I am getting a feeling that we should start exploring the possibility to synch these devices and then create one wallet with one owner of it.
~Everybody has at least a smartphone. The other devices are not as popular among people depending on what part of the world you're in.

So Device 1 should be able to generate a partial key, Device 2 will generate another part, and so on. Let us say we have 3 devices then they will have the key broken down in three ways.
All devices are synched and can be compromised all together.
You can create a multi sig wallet and store the keys in different locations. I prefer not to deoenb so much on electronic means of securing wallets.

Sometimes it will pick up the first 4 characters, sometimes the last first or middle first, and so on! The permutation and combination will play a great deal of role here in increasing the anonymous nature of the private key itself.
This means each device has access to the whole key and defeats the purpose of using multiple.
726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can a transaction in a 6 block confirmation removed on: August 16, 2023, 08:11:57 AM
I did use Trustwallet to send out payment and not electrum wallet, is there a way or is it possible after importing wallet to Electrum and speeding up transaction?
Yes, you can import your wallet from trustwallet to electrum using your seedphrase and then bump the transaction using RBF to speed up confirmation.

Ideally you should sweep your coins from trustwallet to electrum and not just import it.

The sender can increase the transaction fees and also change the recipient of the funds which will make the former transaction invalid (Replace by Fee (RBF).
This does not make the former transaction invalid, the miner can still see both but will most likely choose the one that pays a higher transaction fee.

Some mining pools offer transaction acceleration services but is not advisable to use them because you will be relying on a third-party service provider.
ViaBTC is a good Bitcoin accelerator and you don't give them any information about your wallet besides he txid.
727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can a transaction in a 6 block confirmation removed on: August 16, 2023, 07:05:08 AM
I've been curious to wanting to know the possibility  to reversing or removing a sent transaction on a block which has already passed 6 block confirmation
It is theoretically possible but rarely or never practical.
For majority of transactions it is unprofitable to even attempt to reverse it for a miner that had the means. So if you're sending something less than tens of millions of dollars, then less than six confirmations is enough for certainty.

the writings stated that it is difficult  and not impossible and I've been wanting to know if will be possible to reverse a transaction after a 6 block confirmation?
If someone had unlimited computing power which no one has, it is possible to attempt, but considering it is unprofitable and it's not 100% guaranteed it will succeed, it's not worth it.

but if there were ways for boosting the transaction I wouldn't mind proceed with it.
If it's on an electrum wallet you can use RBF to bump the transaction fee up. Since you're sending to finance using CPFP is not on the cards.
728  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOW CAN BITCOIN STORED IN DOWNLOADED WALLET BE RECOVERED? on: August 16, 2023, 06:53:09 AM
assuming I downloaded for instance Bitcoin Electrum wallet and maybe someday they have a hack or something, will that not affect my Bitcoin? How can I recover my Bitcoin with my seed phrase in case of a breach of the Electrum system? Are these downloadable wallets truly decentralized?
They are open source and do not store your seed on their servers but do that locally, so a hack on their end will not affect you except they change their code which will be visible to everyone. If your local device is hacked you are at a high risk of getting your funds stolen.
All downloadable wallets are not the same, they have to be open source and non custodian and even at that there are levels to decentralization.

Furthermore, can scammers create wallets that fall into these categories with the sole aim of stealing people's fund when they have gotten popular and the number of users they target?
Yes, we have had a couple of wallets which have been responsible for hacks.
Always ensure that the wallet you're using is open source.

Finally, my findings shows that Blockchain is one of the pioneer wallets that I thought was decentralized. I want to ask if they are still decentralized and if they are perfect for use? If no, what are the weaknesses and limitations that make people opt for other wallets.
They are not decentralized and you can't verify their code, this makes it unsuitable for use.
729  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is bitcoin moving now? on: August 15, 2023, 06:53:49 AM
why is moving now on the fact that dollar is rising extremely I thought that would affect the demand and supply of bitcoin...
When Bitcoin drops the value of the dollar against it rises it;

• $30,000 equivalent to 1BTC
• $30,000 equivalent to 1.09BTC

This does not mean that the dollar is rising but Bitcoin is dropping. Samf thing happens with different currencies when priced against the dollar which is giving you the impression that the USD is rising significantly when it is not.
730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs. the Dollar (Traditional Money vs. Digital Innovation) on: August 15, 2023, 06:45:27 AM
These two organizations stand for opposing ideals—
Bitcoin is not an organization but us a network.

The conflict between the dollar and Bitcoin has prompted discussions about the future of money, investing, and the role of technology in forming financial institutions as the global economy continues to change.
There is no conflict between both. The USD has been around for multiple decades now, Bitcoin is new and serves as an alternative currency moslty used as a hedge fund and for investments.

My question is this, why does the value of BTC decrease when the value of the dollar rises?
Bitcoin is priced againts the US dollar so if it gets stronger that increases he purchasing power, meaning you can buy more bitcoins with it.
Same thing happens in your local markets. When inflation grows, prices of commodities increases and when it reduces so does the prices of commodities.
The changes in reference to Bitcoin price is not significant.
731  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The things that improve a quality post on: August 13, 2023, 07:47:59 PM
The simple answer to what improves the quality of a post is having something to say in response to the topic. Many of the time users nake posts with the purpose of reaching a quota or requirement and then make that post considerably acceptable for it to not be considered to be spamming.

If you have a response to a topic based on the question asked, you will be able to make a quality post or contribute something to the thread.

We get things to respond with based off what we read, so I'd you want to make a quality post you should do a bit of reading on Bitcoin related topics.
732  Other / Meta / Re: What’s the real use of this forum feature? on: August 13, 2023, 04:01:00 AM
Since this is related to boards, scroll down while in the Home page and you will get hints on what those icons mean.

You can repeat this if you have an inquiry about threads, while you're in any board (showing the list of threads posted) scroll to the bottom of the page and you will be informed on what the icons there represent.
733  Other / Meta / Re: Whats your take on adding 2FA key as a Bitcointalk account security features. on: August 13, 2023, 03:55:38 AM
It's not working - some account sellers have carpet rug pulled after the sale to claim back the UID.  It's happened in the past.
Can you give an instance of when this has happened? That is the original owner trying to claim back their account which they staked an address on and the hacker still winning ownership of the said account despite not having access to the Bitcoin address used to sign a message.

I've been here a short while and cannot remember a single scenario where this happened.

2FA would have prevented a great many people from having been scammed over the years.
2FA and signing a message are not mutually exclusive. We can comfortably have both as recovery features to protect accounts.
734  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm new here, I need to know BTC on: August 12, 2023, 06:31:32 AM
Expect to be overwhelmed with lots of helpful links, to avoid burning out, make a plan of what you want to learn. There's a lot to the technology of Bitcoin and how the network works and it will take a lot of time to have a grasp of everything about it bearing in mind that some changes happen overtime.

Go from the simple aspects of Bitcoin to the complex gradually working your way up when you've fully understand the basics of it. And take it one step at a time. Never rush the process of learning and understand that you will always be learning.
The more experienced members here also still learn from each other.
735  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: As an undergraduate, is it advisable to invest my trustfund in Bitcoin? on: August 10, 2023, 11:08:59 AM
So, here's what I want to know: Is it a good idea if I use the money I've saved up from 3 years of my trust fund to buy Bitcoin?
Not really, it all depends on your risk tolerance and your other financial situation which you have not revealed here. Investing is a risk, you have to understand and accept that there are no guarantees that you will profit in the end despite historical data on that investment.
You also need patience; if you do not have enough money at your disposal to handle other expenses then do not risk all your savings in Bitcoin.

People say you can buy Bitcoin and become really wealthy. Even one of my classmates told me the same thing.
Depends on your definition of wealth really.
Ten years ago Bitcoin could give you a profit of ×1000 or more from your initial investment, but not you should realistically expect a Mac of ×4 during the bullrun season and depending on what price you bought at.

You can hold longer that the next bull run and have a ten year or more target, but there are still no guarantees of wealth.
736  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Features that destabilised people in bitcoin on: August 10, 2023, 10:48:51 AM
Your topic title sounds like you wanted to write on features of Bitcoin that makes people not to invest in it, but the content is about personal reasons that make people notninvest at all, not particularly related to Bitcoin at all.

An investment mindset take careful training to build, failure to build this is the reason why many people do no succeed at investments or never even take the bold step at all.
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Clawback could be possible with AI GPT? on: August 09, 2023, 01:26:26 PM
Artificial intelligence generally reenacts what humans can normally do and adds more precision to it, basically learning from what is already available. There is no current way one can remotely reverse a bitcoin transaction from a non custodian address even if the bitcoins were stolen.
This should also never be possible with a decentralized currency like Bitcoin, but there are so much the government can do with CBDCs.

there is an AI that's capable of making a transaction by just ordering it to do so, it can tell you your balance and also make some transactions for you, it can also hunt for airdrops for you.
Do you mind sharing what Network and wallet is capable of doing this?
738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy e-sim with bitcoin on: August 09, 2023, 11:59:19 AM
They are also accepting ETH and stable coins.
I personally do not think the market for data only privacy e-Sims is a large one, but any sort of adoption is a positive.
