1082  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-09-18] Bitcoin in the Headlines: Blockchain Good, Bitcoin Bad on: September 18, 2015, 06:00:41 PM
The bitcoin and blockchain industry have a new major newsmaker: distributed ledger startup R3CEV.

Leaving behind a week filled with impressive funding rounds, the coverage over the last few days has been largely dominated by the company's partnership with nine well-known banks including JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs.

Journalists from across the world jumped at the chance to cover the news – perhaps still a sign that mainstream media will deem industry events newsworthy if traditional finance is involved.

In stark contrast, more negative news events received less attention, and were far more focused on the other half the blockchain – bitcoin, the digital token for which the blockchain acts as a ledger.

BitPay's phishing attack – which resulted in the loss of $1.8m – received less widespread, but more derisive coverage. Elsewhere, reports about Mt Gox CEO Mark Karpeles' charge with embezzlement carried over from last week.

1085  Economy / Service Discussion / Uber with Bitcoin Now Possible: Here’s How on: September 17, 2015, 05:54:35 PM
US-based bitcoin exchange platform Bitcoin Builder has announced their release of a bitcoin service that enables users to pay with bitcoin for Uber rides.

How it works :

Bitcoin Builder created a business account on the Uber network, which allows the firm to display itself as a payment method on the Uber mobile app.

Users are required to use the Bitcoin Builder multi-sig wallet to associate it with the firm’s Uber business account. After the activation, users will see Bitcoin Builder as a payment option on the “SELECT PAYMENT” section of the Uber mobile application.

The service works everywhere Uber works, even in countries like India, where credit card penetration is below 2%. According to a report published by The Hindu Business Line, the number of credit cards stood at 21 million by 2014-15. Currently, Uber does not accept debit cards in the country. Uber India takes Paytm, a centralized payment network in India for its local users. But now, Bitcoin Builder’s bitcoin-to-Uber service will give many in India that do not own credit cards or bank accounts an option to pay for the service in another way.

“India needs this service terribly,” said an Uber user in India on Reddit. “Uber does not accept debit cards and many of us don't have credit cards…people use cash a lot in India. Bitcoins bought in India are primarily bought in cash. If service like this could be extended to other services, it would be awesome.”

Honestly I never heard of "Bitcoin Builder" , but I guess I'am used to hear and read about those "unkown" companies on CoinTelegraph.com ...
1086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Sberbank CEO Admits to Owning Bitcoin Amid 'BitRuble' Controversy on: September 17, 2015, 02:30:09 PM
The CEO of Russian bank Sberbank has reportedly admitted to owning a "small amount of bitcoin", after an official from the country said an upcoming 'BitRuble' project was "illegal".

German Greft, the former Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation made the comment at Finnopolis 2015 – a FinTech conference – and noted how he had also fallen victim to the digital currency's volatility.

Speaking at the event, Gref said:

"I am one of the victims, I have a small amount of bitcoins ... Only one currency in the world has devalued more than the ruble – bitcoin."

1087  Economy / Speculation / If there was no Mtgox ... ? on: September 17, 2015, 08:55:48 AM
What do you think Bitcoin price would be if there was no Mtgox ? without taking in consideration that Bitcoin price was pumped by Willybot or whatever his name is .
I personally think that the price would be higher then now because Mtgox was probably one of the reasons that people either left Bitcoin or simply didn't join on the first place since they see it now as a risk .

What do you think is the needed amount of BTC needed to open a faucet and in the same time making a profit . [Including hosting , Satoshi's given to users etc ... ] I prefer hearing from people who have experience .
Also when I say "Satoshi's given to users" I mean also how much is the decent amount that should be given to Users + attract traffic .

1094  Economy / Scam Accusations / [WARNING] SearchTrade.com - Probably a scam ! on: September 15, 2015, 08:17:36 AM
I was probably the first one speaking about this company when I posted on "Bitcoin Discussion" and linked the article from CoinTelegraph , then .. seems like SearchTrade.com created an account and started posting here and adveriting and answering people questions and stuff .

Their announcement thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1169313.0

I posted first time on his thread this :

So after you psoted on my topic : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1169587.20
I only have one question now , Could you please post the adresses that you own and they contain the funds for real and sign messages from them ? that way we can be sure that this is legit and you may even get more investors .

His answer was : "Sure we can, Will post it here nxt week. Thanx for making the effort." https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1169313.msg12334306#msg12334306

Then the user below my post and SearchTrade post said this :

Sure we can, Will post it here nxt week.
I dont think you will, but still, lets see:

Note that this was on 5th September , so it's being 10 days , now after all these days passed ... SearchTrade posted a screenshot for their wallet where they claim that it contains 146 BTC , and it's on smartphone , it's always nice to keep huge amounts on Smartphones i guess.

Now I'am pretty sure he don't have this amount of money and he just trying to make quick buck from investors or something because that amount on their website is totally fake and it just a way to try make the website look legit , it wouldn't make any sense if they have that amount of money since the website have no History on Reddit , Bitcointalk , or anywhere else , just CoinTelegraph which I started to consider them as a scam publishers .

Well , how to proove it ? Since he said he only have 146.00 BTC on that wallet and the others are somewhere else , I searched a little bit and I only found one wallet that contains that amount  : http://bitcoinrichlist.com/top100?page=91
and Guess what , the only transactoin was made one year ago so it's 100% not them if you ask me . https://blockchain.info/address/14xq84BRi5iLuyNnrmxyiPpjwxrZZ1nJN6

Even if he is holding them on different adresses it wouldn't make sense why he don't want to post proof of signed messages .
Please , stay away from this . It will simply end badly if you ask me .

If I'am missing something here then please let me know Smiley AND POST what do you think about SearchTrade .
1095  Economy / Web Wallets / BlockTrail.com Wallet - What do you think about it ? on: September 14, 2015, 11:02:12 AM
So I want to see how the Bitcoin community feel about BlockTrail new online wallet for those who tested it , for those he didn't .. they should test it and give us their experience with it Smiley  and here is mine :
I personally found the design pretty good however for what comes to the features it's too basic and any wallet have that . there is basically Receiving and Sending and transactions and that's it . nothing like Two factor authentification via SMS and email or something like that .
there is also no ability to Sign messages using your adresses which I really wanted to see for the first time on a online wallet , and they claim that there is full control of our control while there isn't even the ability to export the private keys or something ... so honestly I'am dissapointed little bit .

All I stated is from the web wallet so I'am not sure how the Android & iOS wallet looks like Smiley
1096  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-09-13] Constructive Debate Shines as Scaling Bitcoin Unites Developers on: September 14, 2015, 06:48:51 AM
Billed as a potential venue for debate on more heated issues surrounding the long-term viability of the bitcoin network, Scaling Bitcoin saw a who's who of developers decamp to Montreal to talk about the underlying technical issues facing bitcoin yesterday.

Often reduced in conversation to mentions of its price or market cap, Scaling Bitcoin succeeded at showcasing the breadth of challenges posed by bitcoin's approach to incentivizing disparate parties to maintain a common and equally beneficial distributed resource.

Held in Montreal, day one of the much-anticipated event focused more on how incentivizes for network participants should be balanced and less on the positives and negatives of any of the competing proposals – whether Bitcoin Core, its alternative BIP proposals or Bitcoin XT.

The more vitriolic parts of the discussion were confined to afternoon workshops on topics including the level of trust and privacy the bitcoin network requires between users and how relations between miners and developers should be managed.

Held under Chatham House Rules, the discussions were transcribed, though no names were able to be assigned to the content. Nonetheless, some of the more direct statements to the significance of bitcoin's challenges were made during the presentations on these roundtables.

1098  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-09-10]Bitcoin: The Self Securing Network on: September 11, 2015, 02:57:37 PM
While banks and investors look to the blockchain as a singular investment vehicle, they miss the fact that Bitcoin is not only the strongest distributed ledger in existence, but also resembles the natural patterns of basic biology. Hence, it is no wonder why some refer to Bitcoin as “perfect market.”

1100  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-09-09] Bitcoin XT Users Allegedly Suffering Coordinated Hack Attack on: September 10, 2015, 06:32:47 AM
The Bitcoin XT project, championed by Gavin Andresen and Mike Hearn, has been the talk of the Bitcoin community all summer long. Some love it, some hate it, but the issue will not be resolved quietly, it seems. Those who have chosen to adopt the new software have reported suffering targeted cyber attacks after migrating to XT.

Article: http://cointelegraph.com/news/115252/bitcoin-xt-users-allegedly-suffering-coordinated-hack-attack

I personally don't support BitcoinXT because I think it will screw bitcoin up but that dosen't mean that BitcoinXT users deserve to get hacked , each one is free to choose whatever he wants to do , it's sad.
