1101  Economy / Scam Accusations / Bitplutos.com - Community alert on: September 09, 2015, 07:00:28 PM
I first time read about those was from CoinTelegraph.com from a spammy ad . I made a thread sometime ago on the Service discussion asking people how legit is Bitplutos is , didn't get much answers but seems like there is few posts so I decided to post to start posting the reviews of people here that accuse this company of scam and we will see the results , this is only a community alert from members so it should be taken seriously . It's nothing confirmed yet :

If anyone is wondering if Bitplutos is legit, this was my experience with them:

I signed up and deposited some BTC, then I got this email: http://pasteboard.co/vyoOWIv.png

Now, I replied saying "sure"..  Why wouldn't you?

So then I used my 1 BTC deposit (didn't touch the bonus amount) to play some binaries, which I won around 80% profit in 1 day.  So I went to make a withdraw, I clicked "make withdraw" and was presented with a "your withdraw request was successful" despite not even being asked for a withdraw wallet address..  Just to be clear, I didn't try to withdraw the bonus, I assumed this wouldn't be allowed anyway, I just wanted what I'd won.

I thought this was strange that I wasn't asked for my address when withdrawing, so I sent them an email asking what was going on..  I had this reply: http://pasteboard.co/vyLCVkr.png

So now I'm told there's terms and conditions attached to the bonus BTC, terms that were never presented to me let alone agreed to. So now he claims you have to do $7,000+ worth of volume before you can withdraw your BTC, whether you touched your bonus or not.

This company is run by complete con artists, they trick you in you taking a bonus which they use as an excuse not to pay out.

Stay away from these clowns.

Whoever tried them or have any informations about them please post below .

1102  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-09-09]Can Bitcoin Make a Difference in the Global Aid Sector? on: September 09, 2015, 01:05:12 PM
Cash and gifts-in-kind are the two main types of relief when it comes to assisting those who have suffered in the face of natural disasters, but bitcoin is becoming an ever more popular option.

In the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, over $14bn was pledged by the international community for the relief and recovery of the 14 countries affected by the natural disaster – one of the deadliest recorded in history.

Paul Currion, an independent consultant for humanitarian organisations, told CoinDesk this "huge outpour of public support" meant a lot of organisations had more funding than they could easily process and distribute.

Cash donations can be favoured over in-kind donations, with the latter having been criticised in the past for making it more difficult to match the needs of the recipients, and in doing so, disempowering them.

According to Currion, who is currently working with the Start Network to explore the potential of blockchain technology, one of the biggest downfalls in aid in the past has been using a "blueprint response" for every disaster. He said:

Quote
"That's obviously done for reasons of ease – you don't have to re-invent the wheel every time there's a new disaster ... on the other hand, what that means is our options are limited and that, in turn, has limited the options of the people who have been affected by the disaster."

1103  Economy / Exchanges / e-coin.io users ? on: September 08, 2015, 04:30:49 PM
Hey there ,

I'd like to hear from users who have used this e-coin.io and tell me how legit and how good it is , they can't ship their card to my country however I emailed them and they said they will enable Virtual cards within a month (that happened yesterday) , I checked the website once again today and seems like they added Virtual cards (so not sure wtf is going on) .

Anyway I asked them on email how I will be able to get the Virtual card if they are asking me about real informations and Algeria is not listed on the countries ;.. so they told me "Be Creative . LOL"

So what I did is making fake informations I got the number of the Visa , expiration date and also the CVV and I would like to hear from users who already used this card on PayPal to know if I risk to get my account limited or that's fine ? thank you !
1104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / PayPal Pulls Out of Puerto Rico; Huge Opening for Bitcoin on: September 08, 2015, 02:19:44 PM

The original online payment platform, PayPal, has decided to leave the populous island of Puerto Rico next month. The country has imposed a 2 percent take on any money transmission, forcing Paypal’s hand. So what does this mean for those who need to send money from Puerto Rico?

The bitcoin alternative

Where does bitcoin fall into this? It would make a perfect substitute for Paypal, as many in the West feel it is destined to replace PayPal in years to come. Not only would it work in a faster and more secure fashion completing within 10-60 minutes instead of 1-7 days, but it would be fairly difficult for these cryptographic funds to be taxed by government. Maybe the world’s most technologically advanced nation, the United States, could actually watch every transaction, and figure out where it came from and from whom, but Puerto Rico?

In reality, taxing each bitcoin transaction would be quite a feat to accomplish for any government, regardless of where you are. Every time a government makes an economic mistake, and imposes a new tax to cover for it can force the citizens to make economic countermeasures against such impositions.

PayPal will end its service for Puerto Ricans moving money off of the island on October 30, 2015.

1105  Other / New forum software / Bitcoin price on Trust ? on: September 08, 2015, 10:39:36 AM
What I'am suggesting here is to add "Bitcoin price at that time" Cell on the trust settings which make it looks like this on our profiles :

User | Date | Risked BTC amount | Bitcoin price at that time | Reference | Comments

I'am not sure how much the price was in 2010 but this is just an example , so let's assume that I'am a scammer :

Let's say the price was 1$ / BTC and I traded 20 BTC with a user in 2010 , this makes it a 20$ trade and that user is on DefaultTrust and he left positive trust on my account .
In 2015 (assuming price is 250$) I decided to make another trade of a value of 0.5 BTC with another member and this member like others will take a look on my trust profile and see the transaction that I made etc ...
Most of people would go first with this kind of people who have more then 20 BTC on their profiles (from high ranked and trusted memebrs)

So basically the user I trade with would think he is safe since I traded more then 20 BTC (20$) but he would assume it's 20 BTC (5000$) with the current rates if he ignore the date / didn't take attention / or simply d on't know much about BTC and that the price was so low before.

Sorry if I didn't express  my self good enough and if you didn't understand my english post so I try to explain more Grin let me know what you think of the idea most of all .

1107  Economy / Services / Method to Verify my paypal ? on: September 07, 2015, 09:20:34 AM
I know a lot of people are going to contact me with some kind of bullshit to give me some informations to get my account verified however they will still have control on that account then get me screwed ... so don't .

I have my Paypal account now and it's Verified however not fully verified it's only Verified using Neteller MasterCard which means I 'am only able to send money and receive send any money .

It says here that to get it fully verified I need to use either U.S Bank account or Visa card issued in Algeria (my country)
I was going to use e-coin.io which seems to work fine from what I heard however they don't ship to my country which is shitty so .. yep let me know guys if anyone of you have a solution of this . I'd appreciate it (also let me know how much you want)
1108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Gavin Andresen: ‘Nobody Wants to be the High Priest of Bitcoin’ on: September 06, 2015, 03:12:03 PM
Bitcoin never had a clear future, but it looks even cloudier in the midst of the unpleasant, yet weirdly magnetic, blocksize debate. The debate, which eats up /r/Bitcoin, has led to the meta question of Bitcoin “governance” - a buzzword that sums up the question: What happens when developers and stakeholders don't agree? What's the best process to address this?

Gavin Andresen, who has a unique perspective on the topic as Bitcoin's former lead developer, joined Epicenter Bitcoin for a conversation on just that.

Check the interview here : https://youtu.be/B8l11q9hsJM

The podcast took on the meta-meta-question of defining “governance” and zeroing in on which Bitcoin governance issues—exactly—need to be addressed. Andresen offered a broad definition. “When I say governance, I don't mean government. We're governed by all sorts of things,” he said. “We're governed by our government, we're governed by the laws of physics, we're governed by social norms. There are all sorts of things that affect our behavior.” He used the word “process” to describe how to reach these decisions.

Andresen and Bitcoin developer Mike Hearn recently announced Bitcoin XT, a variant of Bitcoin core with a larger blocksize. While the questions of when and how much to grow the blocksize is itself controversial, Bitcoin XT's decision-making process is also controversial. Hearn is to make the “final call” when the developers disagree.

Since then, developers that allegedly make up 90 percent of Bitcoin's commits in the last year released an open letter calling for support from the community to work together towards decentralization.

Bitcoin's decision-making process has evolved over time, according to Andresen, “If you go back in time, it was simple. It was whatever Satoshi decided.” He said that he decentralized that by extending commit access—developers that are authorized make permanent changes to Bitcoin—to five people. But Bitcoin has grown. Today, it interests many stakeholders, including miners, payment processors, and everyday users.

Andresen:

Quote
“I don't think any of us—especially those five people—want to be the high priests of Bitcoin. We need to find a new way of governing—a new way of coming to decisions and have everyone be happy with the process and the decisions that are reached.”

1109  Economy / Economics / Silk road bitcoins Auction - Bitcoin Price on: September 06, 2015, 02:00:35 PM
So what do you think is going to happen now  ? looking at this article seems like they are going to auction the bitcoins seized from silk road http://www.coindesk.com/us-marshals-bitcoin-auction-2015/

Quote
In total, the USMS seized more than 144,000 BTC (then worth $122m) from Ulbricht in late 2013 along with 29,655 BTC held in wallets on the online black market at the time of its closure.

The event will be the final auction involving bitcoins from the Silk Road investigation, with 44,336 BTC ($10m at press time) being offered up to prospective investors.

That's a decent amount of bitcoin honestly and It could affect bitcoin hardly , what do you think is going to happen ? we are in no need of another huge dump with all the XT drama and the panic going on but it's likely to happen ..
1110  Economy / Service Discussion / Search Your Way to Millions? Using Bitcoin to Reinvent the Search Engine on: September 03, 2015, 07:31:35 AM
Time is money. Which is why Indian startup SearchTrade is looking to change how the Internet functions today by rewarding people with bitcoin for their time spent using search engines. Along with the ability to purchase keywords like assets, the innovative approach to search engine monetization may usher in a whole new industry.

It pays to search :

However, two entrepreneurs from India, Vishal Gupta and Rashmit Gupta argue that in most cases the innovation has been at the front end of the user experience. The most exciting piece of the pie, i.e. the revenue model, is still up for grabs. This is something they hope to change through their startup SearchTrade.

SearchTrade looks to reward users for their time spent searching for information on search engines. The plan is to incentivize the user with satoshis every time a keyword is entered. Where it gets interesting is that the user is also able to join in the network’s revenue pool by purchasing keywords as though it were assets. Once purchased, these keywords would then create revenue for the investor on every search generated involving the word throughout the network.

Full article can be found here : http://cointelegraph.com/news/115205/search-your-way-to-millions-using-bitcoin-to-reinvent-the-search-engine

Honestly I think this is a great project and if this aint going to bring Bitcoin to mainstream I'am not sure what will ... "SearchTrade is set to launch in 107 days and has already generated a fan following by raising 91 BTC during a recent keyword presale". and now it's 111.2 BTC (after couple of days) . What do you guys think about this .
1111  Economy / Service Discussion / UK Phone number ? on: September 03, 2015, 07:07:23 AM
I want to buy a phone number UK just to make an account on Paysafecard since I'am not from europe and all phone numbers on the internet that make you receive numbers are used before (simply because PSC is famous) . I prefer a service that accept Bitcoin if there is any and I also don't want anyone controlling this phone number (well the company only) and not an individual , If someone could lead me it would be awesome ! thanks
1112  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Darkwallet Developers Go Dark on: September 02, 2015, 02:06:03 PM
The developers of Darkwallet, the intentionally controversial and OBPP award winning Privacy Bitcoin client are believed to have abandoned the project. One of the developers, Amir Taaki, is allegedly busy “developing something that requires a lot of his attention.”

Gone dark

Father of the 3d printed gun and cofounder of Darkwallet Cody Wilson stated:

Amir will be largely unable to contribute for the next few months into even late next year.

Taaki is “working hard,” he added. “Just developing something that requires a lot of his attention,” as revealed in a recent thread on the UnSystem mailing list.

The nature of this new and very important project is not clear, though rumor has it that it’s related to decentralized governance. However, one thing is clear: this very important project is not the development of Darkwallet as we know it.

In the same thread, Wilson revealed that they are “having trouble locating Pablo,” the Senior Developer of Darkwallet, according to their website.

This certainly dampens the hopes of privacy concerned users who are seeking top notch Bitcoin privacy, though other wallet providers are certainly working to fill that gap.

Restarting funding for Darkwallet?

Part of the reason that Darkwallet is back in the spotlight lately is a post on bitcointalk.org (I'am famous , ha ? Shocked )  from an enthusiast seeking to reignite development in addition to the interest from OBPP researcher Kristov Atlas who started the mailing list conversation about reigniting development, saying:

"“I've been wishing for a while, now, that this might happen. In the first OBPP wallet ratings report, Darkwallet came out on top based on objective metrics tied to our privacy threat model. It's a project deserving of continuation.”"

1113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Gyft Co-Founder: Credit Card Spending Now Outpacing Bitcoin on: September 01, 2015, 06:34:54 PM
When digital card platform Gyft first integrated bitcoin payments, they accounted for 90% of the company's sales, with PayPal and credit cards making up the remaining 10%, but this has all changed, according to the firm's co-founder and CEO Vinny Lingham.

The California-based company, acquired by First Data in 2014, integrated bitcoin payments in 2013 and initially saw a trend for this payment method, but this has since reversed – PayPal and credit card purchases now account for 90% of sales. Regardless, Lingham continues to be fascinated by bitcoin.

In fact, it's fair to say his personal fascination with the digital currency led to Gyft offering it as a payment option in the first place.

Article : http://www.coindesk.com/gyft-co-founder-bitcoin-payments-have-decreased-by-80/

So what do you guys think was the reason behind this ? I mean we all know gyft and how used it is but I didn't expect this to be honest , I thought most of the users there are bitcoiners
1114  Economy / Trading Discussion / Paysafecard with Virwox.com ? on: August 31, 2015, 06:35:17 PM
Honestly I'am not from Europe so I don't really use Paysafecard (at least not that much) but once I used them on a forum to buy their forum currency ...

So I changed my IP using a VPN to an Europeen country and a friend of mine gave me Paysafecard 16-digit  in exchange of Paypal , and when I want to process the payment on that forum it just asked me for the 16 digits code however ... now when I try to use Virwox.com it asks me to login on my Paysafecard only and I can't type simply the code , so anyone know what I can do exactly to simply type the 16-digit code instead of logging in into the account ?

Why not make an account ? I simply can't because It asks me for a europeen phone number and all those in internet that give you SMS access etc .. are used since we all know how Paysafecard is famous .
1115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BitPay: ‘Silicon Valley is Becoming a Bitcoin Hub’ on: August 30, 2015, 05:22:53 PM

Bitpay Chief Commercial Officer Sonny Singh, whose responsibility is to bring bitcoin to the masses and to small businesses worldwide, led a discussion about bitcoin, the importance of the block chain technology to banks, the rapid growth in VC investments, and the benefits of bitcoin for merchants and small e-businesses.

Payment volume

According to the data of Coinometrics and Statistita, bitcoin has took over global financial services and remittances companies like Western Union and digital money transfer and settlement platforms like Xoom.

“Two years ago, bitcoin wouldn’t have been on that,” said Singh. “It shows how much of a traction bitcoin has gotten in just over the last two years. It’s really come a long way and I imagine in the next two years, it will be much higher actually.”

To da moon guys , we are going to the moon . Grin

1116  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin future in few words ? on: August 30, 2015, 03:34:06 PM
I thought it would be fun to collect some opinions from the bitcoin community about how bright is the future of bitcoin or how dark it will be so basically decribe Bitcoin future in few words then give arguments of course because without arguments ... It's useless . Everyone could say that the price will rise or fall without a reason .

1118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / ChangeTip Users Can Now Turn Bitcoin Tips into Gift Cards on: August 29, 2015, 05:47:27 PM

ChangeTip users can now swap their digital currency tips for real-life goods, thanks to an integration with digital gift card provider Gyft

The bitcoin tipping service, which has raised $4.25m in funding to date, brands itself as a 'love button' for various social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and Reddit.

Until now, ChangeTip users could top up their accounts via Coinbase, bitcoin or credit/debit card, however they could only cash out in bitcoin. Following the firm's announcement yesterday evening, they now have the option to redeem gift cards from Starbucks, iTunes, Xbox and Amazon. They range from $1 all the way up to $2,000.

1120  Other / Beginners & Help / How to verify downloaded wallet signature ? on: August 28, 2015, 11:06:48 AM
Someone suggested me to add this on my thread right here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1152619.msg12161270#msg12161270
but I don't really know how to exactly check the downloads if they are legit or not , I most of the time just download with no questions asked (I know , not the best way) .
I know that there is that ASC file but not sure what I'am supposed to do with that .
So if anyone could tell me how , I prefer fully explained with details post so I link it to my [EDU] topic directly .
