161  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost bitcoinstore order and expired bitpay invoice. on: September 11, 2013, 05:46:34 PM
Thank you Equus,

I'm glad we have the same goals,  and I thank you for prompting me to improve the site.

Thank you for your first order,  and I look forward to your second order being even easier.
162  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost bitcoinstore order and expired bitpay invoice. on: September 11, 2013, 08:06:13 AM
I actually blame this mostly on BitcoinStore.

You not sending the payment in time is my fault?
OK....

They could have registered me and my order before passing me to the BitPay process.

Actually we had it setup like this before and we had dozens of orders per day entered into the system that people never paid for.  It was a nightmare to deal with.  The current system is much better.

They could have given me a clear warning about having 15 minutes to get the money to them.
They say: "Do not use CoinBase if you wish to receive your order," which I now realize is a cryptic reference to this exact situation.
Instead, this could read: "Once the payment step begins you will have 15 minutes for your BTC transfer to be confirmed in the blockchain, otherwise this order may be cancelled and your money returned."

You are right, and this will be updated by tomorrow.

I am willing to share half the blame with BitPay.  I should have expected a bitcoin checkout to be more fussy than a Visa checkout.  They should be as good as Visa at tracking the money that people send them.

I don't see how you not sending the payment in time is Bitpay's fault, although it is now their responsibility to track down your bitcoins.
You have never had a traditional shopping cart checkout time out when you didn't enter your CC information fast enough?
This seems like an analogous situation to me.

In the future,  please don't use hosted wallets when you actually want the payment to be sent at a specific time.
163  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost bitcoinstore order and expired bitpay invoice. on: September 11, 2013, 02:16:06 AM
but very frustrating with the error 100% bitpay's fault

I don't see how you can blame it on bitpay since it was obviously the customer who failed to send the Bitcoins within the 15 minutes required.
164  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost bitcoinstore order and expired bitpay invoice. on: September 10, 2013, 06:43:15 PM
You likely had this problem because you didn't actually send the coins within the 15 minutes allotted by Bitpay.
You likely just instructed some other entity to send the coins for you,  and they took their sweet time doing so.
If you keep your bitcoins in a wallet in which you control the private keys, you wont have this problem anymore.
You also wont be creating additional work for the people at bitpay and bitcoinstore.

Some good examples are the Bitcoin QT client,  Electrum and the blockchain.info wallet

Some bad examples are mtgox, bitstamp, and coinbase.
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Money2020, October 6-10, 2013 - Speakers list filled with Bitcoin and Ripple on: September 07, 2013, 01:26:02 AM
Just to be clear,  I am NOT the founder of Blockchain,  and have already contacted Money 2020 to fix this error.
I'm simply representing Blockchain at the conference.
166  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bakada's Reputation Thread on: August 29, 2013, 09:03:26 AM
I did one transaction with Bakada.
It went perfectly.
167  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info security [FUNDS STOLEN] on: August 21, 2013, 03:14:01 AM
Can someone explain where the source of this issue with the RNG came from?

Was it the RNG in:

1. Blockchain.info's browser plugin code?
2. The Browser's code?  (Firefox, Chrome, etc)
3. The OS itself?  (Windows, OSX, etc)
4. Something else?

Thank you for the clarification.
168  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Please dont let bitcoinstore fail, your action is needed just about now. on: August 16, 2013, 06:44:43 AM
1. i got a store credit(Garrett 4448) ($44.48), and only spent part of it(39 bucks). then the rest of it just dissapeared i guess. also it wouldn't let me use the coupon for shipping i had to pay that separate.

We are working on these issues.
For now,  we have sent you another coupon code for the remainder of your credit.

Actually the distributor we are working with seems very supportive of our efforts and have allowed us to continue in the most preferential pricing tier.  Please feel free to compare our prices with anyone,  and place your order today.
Even with the 1% Coinbase fee,  we are still cheaper than just about anywhere.

Did Bitcoinstore meet its target?  Let me guess: No

We did well enough that our pricing tier has not changed,  so we are still able to offer the cheapest prices of just about anywhere.
We get lots of orders each day from around the world,  and are happy to continue supporting our customers.
172  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The biggest thief in the Bitcoinica debacle? MtGox on: July 30, 2013, 04:56:15 AM
I emailed the liquidator today and received the instant reply of:  "I am currently away from the office on assignment and at this stage I do not know when I will be returning.  I will be checking my emails from time to time,........"

I think at this point it is fine to wait another week or so.
173  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The biggest thief in the Bitcoinica debacle? MtGox on: July 30, 2013, 04:37:31 AM
Why did coinlab make a deal with Mt. Gox when this stuff had not been resolved? That is one thing I just do not understand at all.
I have no idea either.  It seems stupid to me too.

As for you being a victim you are also a working partner with Mt. Gox, you have a bit of a conflict of interest.
Now you are just making things up.  I'm not a working partner of Mt. Gox.

edit: Your not being "active" with coinlab is not a defense. Sitting around doing nothing is not a defense, it is pretty much exactly what we are saying you have been doing. Nothing.
You have no idea what I do each day,  I was up until 3AM working on Bitcoin last night,  and got up at 9:30AM today to work on it more.  I've been keeping this kind of schedule for over 2.5 years now.  It is unappreciative people like you, who make me NOT want to help any more with the Bitcoinica situation.  Luckily for you, I know the rest of the victims don't share your same attitude.
174  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The biggest thief in the Bitcoinica debacle? MtGox on: July 30, 2013, 04:03:29 AM
Thing is, how innocent is he?
Blame the victim much?

Why was he in a Mt. Gox video?
I wasn't. The video was posted to my own youtube channel because I thought the world might like an update on what is going on over there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UP1YsMlrfF0

Why did he say he would help us out and then never do anything?
I've actually done a lot,  but have been asked to keep it confidential at the moment.

He is also part of the coinlab team that has a partnership with Gox.
I'm not an active part of the coinlab team in anyway.  I provided part of the seed money to get them started.  Now I hear from Peter once or twice a month when he sends out investor update emails.

I'm starting to despise Ver here more than anyone else because he said he would help the rest of us and then never got back to us, but has very clearly been involved with Gox.
  Way to blame the victim.

I don't know if there is a secret deal or what but he should really explain himself as he looks pretty guilty here.
There is no secret deal.  I'm still owed 24,841 BTC and haven't gotten a single one back.

Ver, Do you want to up date us on all of this? We have been waiting 6 months now.
Unfortunately I don't have as much time as I would like to surf the forums providing updates.  Anyone is welcome to contact me any time by email.  My PGP keys are listed on rogerver.com

Placing blame at this point doesn't do much good,  but in my opinion, in order of responsibility, the blame belongs with:

1. The Bitcoinica Hacker
The hacker is obviously smart enough to earn money honestly and has no excuse for what he has done.

2. Amir Taaki
He released the Bitcoinica source code while an offer was on the table to buy Bitcoinica for enough money to pay back everyone %100 of what they were owed, except myself,  Jesse Powell, Jed McCaleb, Brian Cartmell.  Amir's publishing of the source code destroyed any value Bitcoinica had left, and directly led to an additional $40,000 USD and 40,000 BTC to be stolen from Bitcoinica's mtgox accounts.

3. Patrick Strateman
Patrick has refused to cooperate in any way with the liquidators or anyone else involved.  He has blocked myself, Jesse, and Jed on skype, and does not reply to any of our emails.  Recently Patrick's mother contacted me,  and I met with her in person about the situation since Patrick isn't willing to.

177  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] CoinsForTech.com - Global Electronics Wholesaler! on: July 06, 2013, 01:26:26 AM

1.  No contact information on your website.
By far the easiest way of communicating to us is via email. We are based in Australia, meaning that our admin staff is generally asleep while the majority of our consumers are browsing our website (also the reason it has taken so long to respond here). If you really want to talk over the phone that can be arranged, however at this stage email will definitely work best. If our store is well-received we will be outsourcing support staff, however this will only happen if CoinsForTech.com proves profitable.
This can easily be solved.  Post your contact details today.
Here is what it looks like for a normal business: http://memorydealers.com/about-us/  (Notice the phone numbers and physical addresses)

2. Private domain name registration
This was done for free when we registered our domains with NameCheap. I'm aware it does not scream confidence, and sincerely hope it does not affect our sales.
So log into your NameCheap account and disable it today.

3. Your shipping rates are unbelievably low.
I disagree that they are unbelievably low, however I have very little experience with shipping out of the United States.

Having said this, our shipping rates into the US are artificially low. We have subsidised them to keep the costs down to remain attractive to US buyers. The shipping costs to rest of the countries are at cost price.

All of your rates are unbelievably low if the goods are shipping from Australia.
Here is Fedex's rate card for Economy shipping:http://images.fedex.com/downloads/au/rates/ie_2013.pdf
If you ship enough packages per month,  you can get about a 50% discount from their published rates.
DHL's rates are similar.

Here are some examples that I can't believe even after assuming you are getting a 50% discount from Fedex:

1.0 KG to Asia  You claim:  $17    Fedex reality $51
3.0 KG to Asia  You claim:  $31    Fedex reality $85
5.0 KG to Asia  You claim:  $44    Fedex reality $112

1.0 KG to Europe  You claim:  $29    Fedex reality $62
3.0 KG to Europe  You claim:  $37    Fedex reality $110
5.0 KG to Europe  You claim:  $48    Fedex reality $155

1.0 KG to Middle East  You claim:  $30    Fedex reality $83
3.0 KG to Middle East  You claim:  $64    Fedex reality $148
5.0 KG to Middle East  You claim:  $93    Fedex reality $209

Clearly something doesn't add up with your claim that shipping to the above "countries are at cost price.'

Bitcoin needs more merchants,  and I hope you are an honest one,  but the evidence above leads me to think otherwise.
If you intend to have a successful business,  you will need to address items 1 and 2 right away.
178  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] CoinsForTech.com - Global Electronics Wholesaler! on: July 05, 2013, 03:59:05 PM
I hope your store is real,  but as someone who has been in business over a decade,  lots of things point to scam for me:

1.  No contact information on your website.
2. Private domain name registration
3. Your shipping rates are unbelievably low.

Please provide some real contact information so we can believe you.

Other than that,  your site looks great.
I wish my team for Bitcoinstore.com could have done as nice a job.

Feedback here will be fine.
