221  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: March 26, 2013, 05:43:50 PM

Danny is exactly right.
I have no intention of converting my Bitcoins for USD.
I fear you may of have travelled too far back in time. Dont get me wrong I personally love this, but we are still quite some time away from your suppliers accepting bitcoin, correct ?

The current supplier for Bitcoinstore.com doesn't accept Bitcoins yet,  but I intend to try to change that.
222  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: March 26, 2013, 05:26:42 AM
I don't think they keep all their cash in bitcoins. It'd be too risky if the price dropped they'd loose a significant amount of money. They probably pay all their bills and some of their employees in fiat so they always need it on hand.

You are talking about a group of people who have so much faith in bitcoin that they've invested heavily into creating a significant online store that accepts ONLY bitcoin as payment.  Think again:

Danny is exactly right.
I have no intention of converting my Bitcoins for USD.

Lots more big improvements to the stie will be coming soon too.

About how many active users does this game have?

Thanks for supporting Bitcoin!
224  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Please dont let bitcoinstore fail, your action is needed just about now. on: March 22, 2013, 06:51:03 AM
No markup? Yea right.

It sure sounds like you are calling me a liar.
I assure you that every item on the website is listed at the exact cost from the vendor.

nobody involved with bitcoin is actually interested in or cares about furthering bitcoin for any reason other than their own personal gain so bitcoin to this day hasn't had anyone really go to bat for it.

I promise you that my primary motivation for my involvement with Bitcoin is philosophical and not financial.
225  Bitcoin / Important Announcements / Re: Alert: chain fork caused by pre-0.8 clients dealing badly with large blocks on: March 12, 2013, 01:57:41 AM
http://pastebin.com/uUacVNHK

"The Bitcoin network is currently experiencing an irreconcilable fork
between Bitcoin 0.8 and <0.8 nodes due to a block being mined by a
Bitcoin 0.8 node which an elevated blocksize which older nodes are
unable to handled.

This issue will be resolved by mining power moving to the pre-0.8 fork
and making it longer.  Until this is resolved all transactions at and
beyond block 225439 should be regarded as unconfirmed.

Miners must move their hashpower back to 0.7.2 (or before) nodes or
their blocks will be orphaned.  Once the pre-0.8 chain is longer
operation will resume as normal and a patch will be issued for 0.8 to
avoid triggering this issue.

Please see the Bitcoin-dev mailing list or contact me if more
information is required. I will send out another email once the issue
is resolved."

I am just pointing out how incredibly poorly/stupidly this project has been handled.

If you don't like my website,  rather than bashing it,  go out and make something better!
Please!

I would like to make a few clarifications in regards to Bitcoin store.

1.  $850K is the Quarterly target in order to stay in the best pricing tier.

2.  If Bitcoinstore.com doesn't reach this goal,  it will continue in businesses,  but with slightly higher prices.

3. I'm aware that the site still needs a lot of polishing,  specifically regarding the searching and filtering options.

4. The goal widget on the fron't page doesn't currently update automatically,  but you can monitor our progress at http://blockchain.info/address/1JqjoFF8QZwidrTbfnihGHDeu16pbLia1q

5. I previously negotiated with the distributor to let us start off with the best price tier for Q1 2013.
Everything with the Developers has taken MUCH longer than planed.  Time was running out, so I had to launch the site before it was truly ready in order to have any chance of meeting the sales target for this quarter.

6. I think if we can hit close to $300K,  I will have a good chance of getting the distributor to allow us to continue in the best price tier since 98% of the sales will have been from March.

7.  If you are a professional Magento developer and would like to help with Bitcoinstore.com  (Search,  Filters,  data import, etc)  Please contact me.
(You will be paid in BTC)

With everyone's help, Bitcoin is well on it's way to changing the world for the better!
228  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore launching with 0% margin on: March 09, 2013, 12:49:54 AM
I ordered a netbook 6 days ago and haven't received anything yet... is this normal?

Email your order number to roger at bitcoinstore.com and I will take care of it for you.

Lots of people are sending the payment, but then not clicking the button to actually submit their order to the site.
If you haven't gotten a confirmation email,  that is likely the case with your order.

Either way, I can get it taken care of for you.
229  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore launching with 0% margin on: March 05, 2013, 04:30:11 AM
Do we know when search will improved? Last week I was able to search "wireless headset" and get about 30 results, all reasonable. Today when I search it comes up with 1500+ items and most neither wireless nor headset.

Several people are working on it full time.
There will be lots more improvements to the website soon.
An improved search is near the top of the list.
Thank you for your support!
230  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore launching with 0% margin on: February 28, 2013, 05:13:21 AM
That is great, thanks! So, is that 850k in addition to the current balance, the total received, or from today onward?

So, are you guys not cashing out immediately on receiving payment? It looks like most of the balance is still there. If you're staying in BTC as long as possible, that's ballsy as hell (and kind of awesome.)

It is about $850K needed total per quarter to maintain the contract.
Currently we are about $50K of the way there.  (I'm not planning to cash out the coins if possible)

I'm aware that the site isn't actually ready yet and still needs a lot of polishing,  but I was running out of time to meet my sales quota for Q1 of 2013.

I hope the Bitcoin community can come together to help buy a lot of stuff.
This will help Bitcoinstore continue to improve and maintain the supplier contract into the future.
231  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore launching with 0% margin on: February 28, 2013, 05:07:53 AM
I did some price comparisons and BitcoinStore is actually cheaper this time (unlike during beta when "cheaper than Amazon" really meant "cheaper than some third-party sellers on Amazon").

Quote
MtGox $31.56 Bitcoinstore $31.42
The hidden 1% fee due to the exchange rate used is a bit deceptive.  I would rather just see higher prices with the proper exchange rate.

$0.16 difference does NOT equal a 1% fee.

The MTGOX price displayed is the most recent trade value on MTGOX.
The BitcoinStore price is based on the highest ask price on MTGOX.

Sometimes this value is the same,  sometimes there is a spread,  but you will always get more via BitcoinStore.com than you would by selling your coins on MTGOX at the same instant.
232  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore launching with 0% margin on: February 28, 2013, 04:57:37 AM
Will you guys update us with sales milestones so we can see how much more you need to reach 800k?

You can track our progress here:  http://blockchain.info/address/1JqjoFF8QZwidrTbfnihGHDeu16pbLia1q

That is the payout address for all the orders that come through Bitcoinstore.com

Please help us ready $850K USD by the end of next month!
233  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: February 27, 2013, 03:30:20 AM
Just wondering how this is going overall and whether you're on target to meet the turnover you mentioned you needed to remain viable. This is one of the biggest experiments out there and it would be interesting to know how it's faring.

Things are moving MUCH slower than required.
I need to hire an experienced project manager.
If someone is interested,  please contact me.
234  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: February 27, 2013, 03:27:10 AM
The security error above is a real worry to me too. It seems to be similar to the one that the Avalon website had.    As I haven't seen any public statements about this - I'm beginning to wonder if it's some sort of man-in-the-middle attack on Bitcoin-related websites.

Also.. I've been unable to login since the site update - and I have not received any shipping info for an order placed over 10 days ago.
I know it's a beta site - but this is almost enough to scare me back to using 'good-old' reversible credit card merchants Sad

There is no "man in the middle attack"
We are waiting for a new SSL certificate and the error will go away.

Julz,  send me your order number and I can look into it for you.
All orders are processed the same day and usually ship the very next day.
235  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: iPhone IOS Bitcoin wallet is here! (From Blockchain.info) on: February 19, 2013, 04:27:06 PM
I have dual passwords and two-factor login, but the iPhone app never asks for any of these after the initial login. Anybody with access to my phone can rob me clean Sad any fix to this?

If you have dual encryption enabled,  it will ask you for the second password whenever you try to actually send Bitcoins from the wallet.
236  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: February 11, 2013, 11:22:14 PM
Did you also fix the search algo? That was the other really big issue with your store for me..

This will be fixed as well.
Several people are working on improvements full time.
237  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: February 11, 2013, 10:19:29 PM
I'm currently seeing a 17%+ excess cost due to BTC exchange rates.

Is this normal?
The price seems to be using around $20.5  instead of somewhere near $24

The current site will give you the correct price at checkout.
The new site will display everything in real time so there isn't any more confusion.

Here is a screen shot of the new site that will be pushed to the live server soon:

The MTGOX price is the most recent trade.
The Bitcoinstore price is the highest bid on MTGOX.

So did anyone contact Apple's legal department? What about only making the app available in certain countries (more than just Korea)?

The app is available in every country around the world.
Download it and install it today.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World's First Bitcoin Lawsuit - Cartmell v. Bitcoinica on: January 27, 2013, 05:38:30 AM
Had Patrick, Amir and Donald cooperated, not a single penny would have been lost by Bitcoinica customers.
Instead everyone except the lawyers will loose.
Shame on the Intersango trio of Patrick, Amir and Donald.
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World's First Bitcoin Lawsuit - Cartmell v. Bitcoinica on: January 27, 2013, 04:34:57 AM
It's flabbergasting that Patrick, Amir, and Donald of Interstango refused to even lift a finger to help everyone get part of their money back.
Instead they have actively worked to block the easiest solutions for everyone involved.
They should be ashamed.
