601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Diamonds for Bitcoins on: March 28, 2012, 12:28:45 AM
I thank everyone for their kind words,  and good sense of humor, but the important issue is actually getting a large company like this to accept Bitcoins.

I would guess there are two main road blocks from their point of view.

1. Will they even get any orders from people with Bitcoins?
2. How can they automate the Bitcoin checkout?

To solve #1,  lets make a list of people who will promise to make a purchase from Blue Nile with Bitcoins should they publicly accept them.
It can work similarly to the Bitcoin 100 for charities,  but this time, it will be for large corporations.

They have items starting from just $25,  so nearly everyone can afford to help out.

Let's call this project "the Bitcoin 100: A Kickstarter for big businesses"

Some initial target companies that come to mind are:
1. Bluenile.com
2. newegg.com
3. memoryx.net  (I know the owner, and he seems likely to be converted.)

I've started the official thread here:

Introducing the Bitcoin 100: A Kickstarter for Businesses

In an attempt to get more businesses to accept Bitcoins directly as payments,
lets compile a list of people who will promise to make an initial purchase with Bitcoins.
It will be a kind of Bitcoin cash mob.
Once we have some decent numbers for a specific business, we will contact them directly about accepting Bitcoins.

Initial targets are:

1. BlueNile.com Prices start at just $25 !!!
2. Newegg.com
3. Memoryx.net
4. Your suggestion here

Please post your name,  and amount you pledge to buy and from which company

50k for a wedding ring!!! Baller!  Congrats Roger!  I am happy for you!

Actually,  if I can't get a major merchant on board with this purchase,  I will buy a MUCH MUCH cheaper ring.

I'm lucky that my fiance doesn't care much about Diamonds or Bitcoins, or money in general.
She just wants a happy family.
604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Diamonds for Bitcoins on: March 27, 2012, 06:13:33 AM
I will be getting married this year,  and will need to buy a diamond ring.
I've decided that this is a good opportunity to bring more companies on board with Bitcoin.

My fiancé agreed to allow me to buy the ring with Bitcoins, with the condition that I have it by the end of March April 2012.
That day is quickly approaching,  so I need the Bitcoin community's help to make this happen.

Bitcoins are a perfect fit for online retailers of Diamonds.
Diamonds are a commodity that can easily be resold,  and are not traceable, and are therefore a common target for thieves using stolen credit card numbers.
Bitcoin removes all of these risks.

My initial goal was to get www.bluenile.com to accept Bitcoins as payment directly on their website.
BlueNile.com is the worlds largest online diamond retailer.
They are a publicly traded company with annual revenue of around $350M USD.

In several emails with Blue Nile,  I have promised to buy a ring of at least $50,000 USD from them if they publicly accept Bitcoins on their website.
They have shown some interest,  but have not given any kind of firm commitment yet.

I'm hoping that with some additional interest from the Bitcoin community, we can convince them to accept Bitcoins directly on their website.

If you agree with this idea, please contact them to let them know you would also like them to accept Bitcoins as payment.
http://www.bluenile.com/contact-blue-nile

Your request will be even more influential if there is an actual product on their website that you promise to buy if they accept Bitcoin payments.

My original email to BlueNile can be found here:

Lets make this happen!

607  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: FS Discount Amazon E-codes for BTC, Gox, or LR. I go first to trusted members. on: March 26, 2012, 06:39:16 AM
Are Amazon codes reversible?
What guarantee is there that Amazon will not reverse the e-code's credit next week if Amazon discovers fraud during the original purchase of the code?

If this works, and is safe for customers,  you will have A LOT with this kind of discount!

For deposits I see the following options:

1. Bitcoin
2. Deposit by Bitcoinica Code (Instant)
3. Deposit by BitInstant (Instant)
4. Deposit by Mt. Gox Code (Instant)
5. Deposit by AurumXchange
6. Deposit by International Wire Transfer

For withdrawals I see the following options:

1. Bitcoinica Code
2. BitInstant
3. Mt. Gox Code (USD)
4. Mt. Gox Code (BTC)
5. Bitcoin
6. International Wire Transfer

No where is there a mention of Alipay.

Please advise.

Maybe more of us should approach http://www.manventureoutpost.com/ about this.

This company is a sponsor of freetalklive.com and has already heard of Bitcoins.

I approached the owner about accepting Bitcoins a few months ago and he was cool towards the idea.

If more people that actually want to buy things for Bitcoins contact him,  he might warm to the idea.

Nothing bad can come from asking,  so give it a try!

619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [SOLVED] Bitcoin's chicken and egg problem on: March 05, 2012, 04:34:42 AM
Why should anyone trust them?

I've known the owner of ogrr.com for more than 15 years.
He is 100% trustworthy,  and knows what he is doing.
He has been selling virtual goods online for around a decade,  so I m sure ogrr.com will quickly become a success in the Bitcoin and gaming community.
