623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin reaching critical mass in New Hampshire? on: March 02, 2012, 01:41:51 AM
I also think it is a pretty safe bet that this year's http://porcfest.com/ will double as the worlds largest Bitcoin swap meet.
Last year there were lots of vendors using Bitcoin,  this year I suspect just about everyone will be willing to accept payment as Bitcoin.
624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin reaching critical mass in New Hampshire? on: March 01, 2012, 08:35:54 AM

625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin reaching critical mass in New Hampshire? on: March 01, 2012, 06:56:25 AM
Bitcoin's popularity is already exploding within the libertarian free state project.

The Free State Project is a group of 20,000 liberty lovers who are all moving to the freest state in the USA, New Hampshire.
They are all working together to make it even freer than it is today.

Some examples of Bitcoin taking off in NH are:

And I am sure many more.

Here is the video,  but it is long.

Link removed.
(Sorry wrong year)

I'm not sure which section has the quote,  but I am watching it now.
627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal: Bitcoin Conference San Francisco - March 3rd-4th 2012 on: February 29, 2012, 02:46:14 AM
Maybe Memorydealers should try to set something up down south in San Jose. SF just doesn’t seem like the place. I don’t get it?

I would be happy to do that some day,  but I spend most of my time in Tokyo.

I'm also aware of several other Bitcoin centric companies that have raised substantial amounts of venture capital.
630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica now supports Alipay deposit! on: February 23, 2012, 01:39:10 AM
Awesome, a feedzebirds campaign in English Wink

You also forgot to mention that Twitter is blocked in mainland China.

I hope someone launches a Chinese version of Feedzebirds for the Chinese version of twitter:  http://weibo.com/
631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica now supports Alipay deposit! on: February 22, 2012, 04:42:02 PM
This will be huge!
Will you also be supporting Alipay withdrawals?
I am going to tell all my vendors in China about this!

We will consider Alipay withdrawal option soon. Currently there's an API for mass payments, but it requires a service contract with Alipay.

When the CNY deposit volume is higher, we will have better chances of getting the service contract signed.

I suspect more of my vendors will be willing to accept payment in Bitcoins once they know that they can instantly cash out via Alipay.
Keep up the great work!

I just started a feedzebirds campaign.  Please help spread the word!

Paraipan,

The only time I have ever posted anything negative about someone on the forums was in regards to Tom Williams.

This will be the second time.

People like you are exactly what is wrong with the world.
Bitcoinica hasn't hurt anyone, so you should mind your own business.
If you don't trust Bitcoinica,  don't use them,  but don't try to use men with guns to block the rest of us from doing business with whoever we want.

Please spend some time reading some books on economics,  and morality.
It will change your view of the world, and make you a better person.
634  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY] 1000 BTC for getting a major business to accept Bitcoin on: February 16, 2012, 01:42:59 AM
I will try no matter what,  but it is going to cost a lot of money to make it happen,  so some extra Bitcoins would help a lot.

If this company comes on board,  it will be a great step,  but I don't think it will send the Bitcoin price over $100.

I will post again once there is an update.
635  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY] 1000 BTC for getting a major business to accept Bitcoin on: February 15, 2012, 04:18:38 PM
What sort of bounty is still available if I can convince the following company to accept Bitcoins publicly on their website?

Publicly traded on the Nasdaq
Stock price currently over $40
Market cap of over $500,000,000
Anual sales of over $300,000,000
Worldwide customer base.
Would greatly benefit from accepting Bitcoins as a payment method.

636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone please address how vulnerable Mt Gox and Dwolla are to being shutdow on: February 15, 2012, 02:00:19 PM
Any of you dialed-in folks know how antagonistic the Japanese govt is towards BTC?

I don't think there will be any trouble from the Japanese govt.
They are much calmer than their US counterparts.

For the most part,  no one has even heard of Bitcoins in Japan,  but through some good luck and social networking,  the Japanese porn industry is now very interested in Bitcoins.
637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help Me Convince My Boss To Accept Bitcoins on: February 08, 2012, 09:53:25 AM
Are these by chance the same kind of lasers that are used in optical transceivers?
850NM to 1610NM wavelength?
If so, I suspect I can get you a lot of new business from vendors who will be willing to pay in Bitcoin.

638  Economy / Services / Re: Introducing the Bitcoin100: A Kickstarter for Charities on: January 30, 2012, 06:22:37 AM
I don't have time to monitor this thread in detail,  but getting more charities on board with bitcoin is very important.
I just sent in another 90 BTC.  (So far 100 BTC contributed)

Please keep up the great work!
639  Other / Politics & Society / Re: George ought to help.... (should we use violence on him if he chooses not to?) on: January 27, 2012, 10:08:28 AM
Half baked logic.  George's money was created by society, it was given to him by society and he only keeps it because society provides him security.  So the amount he has is not his decision, its a collective decision.

So you are saying that it is ok to use violence against George in order to take back what was given to him by society?

When you say "money"  do you mean wealth,  or government issued currency?

I'm not trying to start a flame war.
To me it seems so clear that it is not OK to use violence against George,  so I am trying hard to understand how anyone else could see it so differently.
