I think i can install the client on Linux Mint. But i want to have the wallet in a container on the stick. I dont know how to tell Electrum where to find the wallet. Flatfly has made a portable version.
With the client installed issue the following command. electrum -w /mnt/usb/electrum.dat
Replace /mnt/usb with the path of your usb device. Flatfly does an excellent job for portable versions for Windows, sadly I don't think this is achievable on Linux.

How can I install it on a pen stick (linux mint 13)? Couldn't you just checkout the source from git and place it on your pen stick? Sorry i m not a tech freak. Just a user. I can walk you through it most likely, but you will need to insert the pen into a system that has the dependencies for Electrum already installed. Is this feasible for you?

Requesting Fair Play and Decency:I have just had a look at " http://electrum-desktop.com/credits.html". I am just an observer and user of Electrum and only contributed to its documentation, so my opinion is probably not of much relevance. Nevertheless, there is something that irritates me quite a bit in this list of credits, and I have to point out this concern. It is about the order of names: * Either it should be in alphabetical order, * or it should be in "historical" order (who contributed first), * or it should be in the order of "amount of contribution". Since the list is not alphabetical, I would strongly plead to name ThomasV as first name on this list, because both in terms of "historical order" and in terms of "amount of contribution" he is clearly the first one to be credited, and it is just fair and good style not to have his name lost somewhere in the middle of this list. For comparison: On " http://bitcoin.org/" in the list of developers, Satoshi Nakomoto is still listed first, although he has also stopped contributing for quite some while. But he has started the client, so he is listed first, and that is the right style. And it does not diminish at all the value of other developers' contributions. But it would question these developers' decency if they did not name Satoshi first in the list. Thanks, Michael You were right, I took a few minutes to rework the structure of the credits page. It's alphabetical now and more emphasis is added to the fact that these are the contributors to version 1.0.

Our private offering is still open. Interested investors are always welcome to buy directly from us before our IPO succeeds. I still think it's not the fairest way to do it. People browsing GLBSE and reading the IPO there might just decide to pick up shares right there at market price since it mentions nowhere that private buying is an option.

I feel a bit cheated buying shares above IPO price when the IPO isn't done yet. If I would have known there would be more shares coming I would rather have waited.

Part of the Lite GUI were rewritten using functions that were introduced in QT 4.7. I checked the Debian packages but sadly they don't have 4.7 in their stable branch yet. You could try a manual install via the QT site. We took the gamble that most distros would have 4.7 in their package distribution, sadly this does not seem to be the case.
Argh, and it's not in backports either Switching to ubuntu would really bother me, so I'll have to stay with 0.61 :sigh: http://qt.nokia.com/downloads

It was my understanding from what I've been told that ThomasV was indeed stepping down as main lead for the project and Genjix was taking over his job. Everything I've done for the project was with that idea in mind.
I have the utmost respect for ThomasV and the work he has done on Electrum. If he is not happy with the direction the project has taken I will step down as contributor and focus my energy elsewhere.

ThomasV, the author of Electrum, has made it public that he is not going to add new features to the client while a couple of us still see a lot of room for improvement.
can you clarify this point? Some longer and shorter term plans as I understand them at this point: - Full functional lite-gui, having all the basic features the lite-gui needs.
- Working binary for all operating systems and distro's.
- Improved user friendly Wizard on first launch.
- Build in alt-chain support.

Great ! thanks for the update I'm trying to install 1.0 but I get the following error : $ ./electrum Traceback (most recent call last): File "./electrum", line 169, in <module> gui.main(url) File "/tmp/electrum/lib/gui_lite.py", line 65, in main self.mini = MiniWindow(actuator, self.expand) File "/tmp/electrum/lib/gui_lite.py", line 131, in __init__ self.address_input.setPlaceholderText(_("Enter a Bitcoin address...")) AttributeError: 'QLineEdit' object has no attribute 'setPlaceholderText' Running on debian 6.0.5 I first tried the 'pip' install, and then the 'git' install, where I realized I was missing "xgettext" ( gettext package) and some "zbar" tools for QR Codes ( python-zbar python-zbarpygtk zbar-tools packages) But still, the error occured when launching the ./electrum script. Any help appreciated ! Part of the Lite GUI were rewritten using functions that were introduced in QT 4.7. I checked the Debian packages but sadly they don't have 4.7 in their stable branch yet. Thanks for working on the different solutions, I'm sure every depositor has a solution that will work for him/her.
Will there be dividends this week because of this change?

Hi, I have no Windows system available for now (my computer died on me), but hopefully I will get a new PC in the first week of September and then I will be able to make new builds. That said, if you do have some time to make Windows builds as well, go ahead I think it would be nice to eventually have several people working on the binary creation and distribution, documenting the build process so it is easily repeatable by any user. That would be my end-game too, there are already build scripts for OSX and a PIP install for Linux. I will see if I can get a python dev env on Windows setup so I can try building a Windows binary.

Are you still working on brining out new versions Flatfly? We are about to release a new version and I would love there to be a easy to download windows version of it to. If not I would like to know so I can try to build an .exe myself :}

I think I might have tracked down some of the problems we were having with the gui_lite error and black screen.
Ping me when you get back in town.
Awesome, should be back on IRC tomorrow

I've setup a testnet explorer on http://explorer.testnet.litecoin.net/ http://testnet-explorer.litecoin.net/. You can also add this domain to your testnet client with addnode to make sure you are always connected to an other testnet client. I have a few k/hashes working on testnet to generate blocks. I hope this helps others out when developing litecoin related applications. It's down... <class '_mysql_exceptions.OperationalError'>: (2006, 'MySQL server has gone away') args = (2006, 'MySQL server has gone away') message = '' MYSQL + ABE is just totally fubar. I need to reboot the server every few hours or it will just not work. I will make a script to automatically reboot it every few hours. Hopefully that will keep it stable.

@Tachikoma For a Mac OSX APP/ DMG file you could probably use the MultiBit skeleton app to save you a bit of time. You could either reuse or rewrite the maven build in the multibit code for the DMG file generation too. I basically have a skeleton APP file with everything in it except the 'payload' - a Java jar in my case or your python code for Electrum. I just copy into the APP directory tree the appropriate build artifacts. The skeleton app is here: https://github.com/jim618/multibit/tree/v0.5/src/app-resourcesWith the right icons and Info.plist settings it will look just like any othe Mac app to the users. It also does the bitcoin URI registration in the app metadata. The multibit build also creates a DMG file with: + the app + an 'Applications' shortcut + a readme file That is written in maven+ant so you might not want to use it directly but might be useful. I'm currently using Py2App which should take care of everything for me but sadly it does not seem to work consistently. I will take a look at your skeleton code and see if I could somehow make that work for me. The problem is that I need python inside the package as well, I'm guessing Java is an external dependency for you. Thanks for the suggestion, I will let you know if I can make it work for me
