Yes, I trust miners. I don't find any reason for not trusting miners. Minor's main role is to mine bitcoin and sell it for profit and they are there to make profits and messing with the bitcoin protocol would mean 0 profit for them. I think that a if the bitcoins rises as a strong mainstream currency then it has the capacity to shut down the other companies like paypal, visa and mastercard.
