Well, I finally managed to log back on to the forum after a long break - and I'm surprised that no one has taken over the pools list! Come on people, this is a really important service and should be kept up to date! I don't have time anymore, but I'm sure someone here is capable. Message me if you'd like my input or advice, but get started soon -- the community needs a non-partisan pools list.

So how much is antpool really taking from people for their free mining?
20% recently but over time it is still a significant proportion correct?
Strange they have half the network, does no one know this or notice?

Long time no see/speak/text.
Quick question for you. Since the fees are now 15-30% of the block reward, are there any pools that "keep" the fees for themselves and only split the 12.5 block reward with the miners?
Yes, from memory I think Kano's right - Antpool and PPS pools generally - although there's a recent PPS pool that includes tx fees. |

It's called Full PPS or FPPS. The Full Pay-per-Share (FPPS) approach, created by BTC.com team, aims to benefit miners from the high transaction fee. It will calculate a standard transaction fee within a certain period，add it into the block rewards (12.5 BTC every block for now) and then distribute the whole to miners according to PPS mode. This method keeps advantages of PPS and pay more to miners by sharing the transaction fee. As far as I can tell, this is PPS with smoothed tx fee, yes? Great idea, but I don't think it's new enough to warrant a new name. Also " Full-Pay-Per-Share" is misleading when PPS is the canonical method. I've mentioned in the appropriate column that you pay the tx fee, but can still put you in with the PPS variant pools if you like. Good luck! |

Weak. Back when I mined, we were real men -- even the women -- and we had balls of steel. A little variance? Pffft.
Unfortunately, I am getting to the party a little late. I wish I would've joined sooner and now have more than $5000 invested. It's the only way to make it sustainable - a little profit. Why did you stop mining? Electricity costs made mining unprofitable. [edit: in my location, that is -- still plenty of places where electricity costs are ok for mining] |

if they toss back to back that is 1 in 10000 chance my guess is the pool has
bad code
bad server
bad internet
or bad gear mining on it.
Or the pool owner decided to snag a block reward for themselves. I hazily recall a pool getting caught out for the statistical improbability of their never finding extremely lucky blocks back around 2012. Turned out the owners were taking all the blocks the pool found below a certain share threshold. Do you remember which pool? |

I appreciate Duterte for taking steps to reduce the burden of over-population in his country. The last time I checked, the Philippine population had soared past the 100 million mark. Population control measures need to be implemented immediately. The current campaign against the drug addicts is helping in a significant way....

I was right, he is crazy and will continue crazy shit long after all the drug dealers and users are dead. "Mr Duterte has repeatedly said he does not care about human rights and has suggested that lawyers defending drug suspects might also be targeted in his campaign" So now lawyers are gonna start getting killed.. hmm.. not far off from his opposition getting killed. That could be next. clear the country of cancer, anyone who has done nothing wrong or isn't corrupt has nothing to be feared of. So you think it's ok to have killed suspects, even if they eventually turn out to be innocent? In that case, rather than killing indiscriminately, why not just kill people randomly? It would probably be cheaper than going through the expense of having a court. Obviously this argument is a reductio ab absurdum, but you get the idea - why bother pretending it's drug dealers your're killing when you have no idea if they are or are not? |

I was wondering if -- now that it is another December -- Omega Mining is back testing their equipment -- especially since it coincided with the jump up to 150Ph.
I never understood why Slush allowed them to get away with it last year.
It is basically stealing from all of us.
I HOPE that isn't what is happening and it is just coincidence -- but, it did occur to me.
Slush's pool is able to check for that sort of problem now. |
