perhaps soopy is working hard and he has no time to read the thread.

+1, I'm sure that this is it (at least I hope  Wink )
402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HBN Investment Journal - 2% returns every ten days - 80,000+ HBN Porfolio on: April 18, 2014, 06:15:18 PM
250 HBN are waiting for me @ hashco.ws for just over 1 day of mining... sweet Smiley
403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - Major Release ready! Version 1.4. Stake For Charity. on: April 18, 2014, 06:04:56 PM
oh... it`s so complicated now... so what is the best way to stake coins?
transfer to a new wallet splitting into 500 hobos each transaction or what?
Thanks!

Let's make this really simple,

I use only 1 wallet for staking (you can have multiple address in one wallet). I have another wallet where I send my mining coins and purchased ones. I used that second wallet so I don't have to many "small" blocks in my staking wallet and when I have a big enough amount I combine those smaller blocks and send them to my staking wallet (keeping the number of blocks in that staking wallet relatively low).

Start from your overall balance and divide by 10.  It's a quick rule of thumb and you shouldn't have to combine blocks for at least 2 months. And in two months, you don't have to start all over again, you can move gradually and combine newly minted coins into bigger blocks.  You can keep the same address or pick a new one, a new wallet or the same one, it doesn't matter.  I use the same.

For example,

your balance is 10,000 HBN you'd make 10 x 1,000 HBN blocks
your balance is 5,000 HBN you'd make 10 x 500 HBN blocks

Keep in mind this doesn't have to be perfect, but starting with 10 blocks, you'd have ~640 Block in 2 months, that's when you should think to combine them again.
Also, if you already have some age or weight on your current coins, you can wait for them to stake and move them right after that, so you are not resetting the coin age and losing the PoS rewards on those coins. (You will need to use the coin control feature for that).
You will likely always make more than 2% since it will mostly always take more than 10 days to stake.  The PoS reward is based on coin age (number of blocks it takes before successfully getting your PoS block). So you don't lose for waiting longer and thus the reason for having slightly more than 2%.  The max interest per year is set to 100%. That is hard coded and the same for all.

Having a fast CPU doesn't matter if you have a lot of blocks... they will consume all of the CPU power and get your client less responsive.

Also, there is a distinction between BLOCKS and TRANSACTIONS.  having a lot of transactions is fine.  I have a wallet with over 25k transactions with no problems with it yet.  But I have no wallet with more than 500 blocks.  that is a pain to work with if you ever do.

I was going to give this a shot.
https://github.com/rat4/blackcoin/commit/a9c889cedaa9f06779107f12eaab7383a9884d88

I used the newest version of leveldb, that was in btc .8.5. I didn't know the mac clients where getting random crashes. I just knew that sometimes the index becomes corrupt.  Only manifested it self after shut down/restart.

But yes, i assume they are related.

Well it's not really the same bug, the crashes I get is at startup. bitcoin's crashs seemed to happened some time after being running.  But it's still somewhat random as it happens on some machines and not others.  I have the same issue with 4 of the qt client I tried on the same machine.

I just assumed it could be related since it was a new feature, but then again might be something completely unrelated.
405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RESURRECTION] Bringing Life to Growthcoin (GRW) , Community Backed Development! on: April 18, 2014, 01:32:41 AM
I added some extra code to reset the checkpoints if the stored one didn't match the newest hardcoded one, but it's a bit hacky. Better understanding of the ppcoin checkpointing code (including central checkpointing) is needed.

am i missing something? I don't see the extra code in your link

The extra code was for another coin... and it really is hacky... it needs to be done properly. Smiley

ok, let's wait to hear from soopy, maybe he's fixing this for the next release
406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - Major Release ready! Version 1.4. Stake For Charity. on: April 17, 2014, 11:28:08 PM
also as i mentioned before if you close the wallet on the mac without quitting it

it won't come back on unless you quit it and restart it as it does not have hide/show feature when you right click on the wallet icon

correct I noticed that too, this should also be fixed
407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - Major Release ready! Version 1.4. Stake For Charity. on: April 17, 2014, 11:09:32 PM
We could improve some features on the mac wallet too, like notification "bubbles" (I don't know how to call them but the new bitcoin client and dodge client have it, looks like the bubble popup from windows but it's in the notification top right of the screen).

Also, I was talking with MystPhysX, and he suggested that the random crash of the mac wallet on some computer might be linked to the leveldb database (there was a bug on the bitcoin client 0.8.3 version I believe).

Since this a new feature for HBN, I taught it made sense.  What do you think about that Tranz?

I'm pretty sure we need a checkpoint like now...

dev are you around?

This might be too old
Code:
{
"synccheckpoint" : "d5e4fc54c53a9a20bbe01e70d8b47ce66f15c1bd3504f7e80390bf5601150ded",
"height" : 0,
"timestamp" : "2013-08-01 07:16:01 UTC"
}

( 305038, uint256("0x0000000628f73d1b674de85a51546e00fd988fcdaba40ad89231a5a654c27c76")) is the last checkpoint mate. Are you sure you are using the new client on the OP?

Coin forked?

I can see on the pool current block 89495 208657 with only solo miner(s)
on the network. In the wallet the current block 420670.
That pool must be doing something really wrong, or is not updated, the block explorer shows 420673:

http://grw.blockx.info/get/chain/GrowthCoin?count=50&hi=420673

But the block explorers seems to "lose sync" or not accepting new block for a while when this situation happens.  now the block chain is up to date again but it was some 2 hours behind earlier

Didn't the post say, that the new wallet is due out April 24th?

That's good, I didn't see that pass  Wink
410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RESURRECTION] Bringing Life to Growthcoin (GRW) , Community Backed Development! on: April 17, 2014, 04:42:55 PM
Are we resurrecting this coin or what?

I haven't heard from the dev yet, and I have no idea of what are the development plans about the client.

A few bugs are showing up, especially the forking issues.

So what are the plans? Why so quiet?
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - MULTIPOOL PAYS --- 20%--- BONUS! for the next week!! on: April 17, 2014, 03:33:24 PM
I've posted this on April 9th and sent it to dev on same day and still haven't heard from him

The Mac client http://fac.blockx.info/faircoin-0.9.0.1-macosx.dmg seems to crash on mid 2010 Mac (and earlier Huh).

I have tested the client on hardware of early 2011 and more recent and it works fine,  can anybody else test it and post your success/failure with your hardware specs?

thanks

It seems that a few people are having problems with the new Mac Build as well.

This is really an odd issue since the same build that crashes on some models works fine on others.

To people who've tried the Mac wallet on, can you please post the model, year, os version and witch build you used (from witch person you downloaded from).  We're trying to figure out the issue here.

Thanks

And yes HBN has a great wallet. How many other coins have multi-wallet?

AFAIK, I never saw another one!
413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HBN Investment Journal - 2% returns every ten days - 80,000+ HBN Porfolio on: April 16, 2014, 08:46:30 PM
Nice, Didn't know there was a rich list.

I'm in the top 60 Smiley

I mined a bunch when it first came out. Sold maybe 5-8k over the last few months. Now planning on pumping up my reserves for a bit.

My 4.5Mhs doesn't even make a decent dent anymore so I'm just multipool'ing it and then buying hbn.

nice, are you on hashco.ws?  they pay in HBN now Smiley
414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HBN Investment Journal - 2% returns every ten days - 80,000+ HBN Porfolio on: April 16, 2014, 04:10:28 PM
pointed 8 MH/s to the multipool... let's wait and see  Wink
415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HBN Investment Journal - 2% returns every ten days - 80,000+ HBN Porfolio on: April 16, 2014, 03:46:47 PM
happy to announce http://hashco.ws now has an option to pay out in HBN!  Help spread the word, and come bring your hashrate.  Just sign up, go to 'User Info' -> 'Account Settings' and choose to get paid out in HBN! I'll announce some hbn-based giveaways if we can get a decent hashrate built up.

Couple of notes:  You can still chose to optionally keep any other alt that we mine as well.  The 'Confirmed Exchanged' number is only an estimate when getting paid out in an alt-coin instead of btc, as the final exchange rate of btc/hbn isn't determined, so could change slightly.  HBN Payouts happen once daily at ~04:30 UTC

Happy Mining.

HBN gets it first professional Multipool. Aim your miners, strap in and prepare for takeoff!

I'll give that a shot... I can't wait to see the impact on the market
416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - Major Release ready! Version 1.4. Stake For Charity. on: April 15, 2014, 08:26:53 PM
sigh...this has been such a painful blockchain sync.  I'm running 1.4.0.1, have had checkpoint warnings off and on throughout the sync, which I assume are ok for now, seems all my peers are on older versions, and its been going > 24hrs now and still ~60k blocks to go.  I've got a bad feeling its not going to be legit when its done, either.

Attempted using the linked blockchain from April 6th (or whenever), but it just started at block 0 anyways.  Maybe I'll revisit that again if this ends up not working out as it is.

It is a long proccess, It took me 26 hours to re-sync. It took 2 tries because my server crashed on the first run, corruptin the blk0001.dat file (I was halfway through  Angry ).

Don't worry about the "checkpoint too old" message.  It's because at some point in the sync, the checkpoint of that perticular block the client is at is too old, but it gets fixed as soon as it continues to sync with the network.

If you could download from the link Tranz posted, it should take a few minutes to download, if not, then just be patient, you'll get there  Wink

*edit - website updated with the explorer link.

Thanks Smiley

The block explorer is up,

I've been testing the last couple of days and it seems that from time to time the latest blocks are not being updated, might be an issue with the current version of the client (still haven't figured out why I don't have the correct checkpoints, will wait for dev about that) or with Abe, will see.

As soon as we are on some exchange that offers an API for the market price, it will be reflected on the block explorer (Good job on approaching Cryptsy BTW)

I've been watching BC, FAC and HBN lately and there is quite some potential with GRW (and it's ~6% per month).

let's make this happen  Grin

http://fac.blockx.info/richlist/

Does that list all the addresses or are there hidden wallets?   seems like more than 50% of total supply is unaccounted for

Any address that has been used on the network is accounted for. The concept of "hidden" wallets is non existent.  Even cold storage.  That's the whole point of cold storage.  You can see it on the block chain but you can't access it from a computer (until you import the private key).

Why are you saying that 50% is unaccounted for? did you see something wrong?
