Greetz everyone.
I'm in the United States. After 4 months of having a paid in full status on KNC's website for my batch 2 Neppy (even though I requested a refund, they still shipped) I get this message yesterday from the UPS Message center:
"UPS DELIVERY Exception Reason: A VALID TAX ID OR DEFERMENT NUMBER IS MISSING AND IS REQUIRED FOR CLEARANCE. WE ARE WORKING TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION. Exception Resolution:THE PACKAGE IS AT THE CLEARING AGENCY AWAITING FINAL RELEASE."
Does this mean that I have to have a Tax I.D., go to UPS & pay taxes which is even more money than I already paid $10.2KUSD? If so, lesson learned. Never again. Does anyone here have this experience?
UPS is going to need your SSN or your business Tax ID. This has happened a lot on large S3 shipments: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=671189.msg8068381;topicseen#msg8068381You may want to call UPS to speed up the process.

Well the GAWminers (physical) are not shipping yet but they are offering FREE hashing till they do ship (ie temp) or you can change them over to virtual mining also (perm)..this starts TODAY as soon as you can let them know your choice(s) temp or perm on how you want it all to work. the equiv of all batch 1 Titans imho available as fast as you can email gawminers of your choice on the above vaultbreaker deal likely 6 weeks ahead of when i 'physically' get the Titan here is the link..it seems their 'boast' to bury KNC and Titan may be true! https://hashtalk.org/t/vaultbeakers-come-early/7605I myself am on the sig campaign (see my tagline) for GAWminers and have no frigging idea on how they are doing all this ...getting the hash power buying up zenminer for 8 million and btc.com for 1 million etc they seem to have big big bucks behind them...anyway we will see and as usual nada/zip/nothing out of KNC on all this (except banned posts on their forum if you mention GAWminers) ....but with their no refund policy we are stuck so 6 weeks of watching vaultminers at 750mh hash away..then when I get my knc Titan I can compete against batch 1 other Titan customers too! ah the joys of mining gonna go cry in my beer now Searing You're not the only one wondering how they are doing it. I just read a bunch of posts by some guy who wants to promote his mine by attacking GAW. If the amount of trolling equals recognition one could say they have succeded in becoming one of the leading hash providers in the world. I have a feeling that if it is too good to be true then it probably is. GAW can say and make all the statement they want. KNC is a small fish, let's see if they can out do MBP. Attacking with a DDoS is silly stuff. Somebody pulled off a BGP redirect attack and directed all the traffic to their pool. That's skillz. KnC isn't worth the trouble.

how about ditching those pci-e and soldering directly to the pcb?? if that piece cant handle the load just get rid of it imo...
Thats what I did on day 1. https://i.imgur.com/3pVt5ae.jpgI tested them first on the PCIe then voided warranty. BTW 2 x 12AWG in each direction still gets warm. Will replace 2x12AWG with 3x12AWG next maint pitstop. My plan is to use 2 x 12/3 extension cords for the wire. (50% more copper plus better flexability) YMMV EDIT I use two DPS-2000BB per Neptune @ USD $50.00 each. (4kW available but only runnin @ 50% of rated output for better efficiency) https://i.imgur.com/epKz23R.jpgtolip_wen, you're work is truly extraordinary. I see the pipes - are you water cooling the chips, too?

Another thing you'll need to consider is the noise. I had to take apart an S3 for an RMA and had it running without the case and it was loud. The fans make a lot of noise - aka old school vacuum cleaner noise. It's something to consider if you're a home miner and have ppl in the house that tolerate your hobby.

^^^^^^^^^ see above on how you think KnC will respond to your requests Hi,
So this is a 10000usd Jog, and even this single socket not make trouble, sooner or later pcb board also make trouble too, then only 90days warranty, that is about the time to blow up cube even under normal working condition, so will knc offer schematic and pcb for upgrade to shoot this issue out.
That is only issue, I don't want to over clock, but it looks now even I don't over clock it, it still can't last long.

I had to RMA a board from one of my batch 2 S3s and it was a complete chore to unscrew everything to get the board off. I had (not joking) close to 30 screws on my table. Dude, these are well put together machines. Their support has been really top class. If you can get Kiddy Chen then you'll be set. However, what this made me realize is there is no way in hell I am going to ever purchase an upgrade kit. Old boy was right to just suggest it was a waste of time. If the cost comes down it'd really just be smarter and less trouble to purchase a whole unit. If the price were half the cost of a whole unit then mebbe.
Has anyone that has a batch 1 or 2 gotten their units to OC successfully? I can only get 1 to hash at 441, but OC is a bust.
Out of two batch 1 machines, I have one that OC to 465GH on 237.5mhz (instead of 478 because one asic goes to X) Another one is an underperformer at ~418GH at default speeds, so on average it is exactly 441GH/unit. Sounds like my situation. I'll try the 237.5 on the stable one and see how it works out. Edit - actually did - got 1 OC hashing like yours and the other is a total piece of dog crap.

Nope, not ordering any more of these until the price comes down or they allow ordering single units (at a lower price). They'll never make the coin back at a month away. The DIY factor is cool and I enjoy that aspect, but I don't enjoy it enough to sink more btc in it.
May be time to throw out some coupons, BitMain. (hint, hint)

Anyone bought from Bitmain pre buy from Amazon (Batch 7)? Order date of arrival for me is 22-26 but no shipping yet.. :l
No, we order from bitmaintech.com which is the manufacturer's site. That sounds scammish. Why didn't you order from Bitmain directly?

Wow!! Account closed, that's not a good sign. You can sue them from any EU country to get your money back.

GAW miners is doing to KNC LTC Asic what Bitmain did to them with ASIC for BTC. Faster development cycle, quicker manufacturing.
... and not sucking

Actually, KNC is the one who most trustable on the market, that is why I give my money them, even late but still better than nothing.
You forgot to mention that earth is flat. That way you can flush money from your toilet straight to their Swedish bums.

I had an underperforming S3 B2 and I went through a battery of tests to prove that the blades (they only saw an issue with one) was underperforming.
First was to send them a screenshot of the webgui showing aforementioned slowness. Second was to take off the heatsinks and clean off excess paste (none there - they did a good job on that) Third was to unplug the right board (Ethernet port facing you) run it and take a screenshot. Then unplug the cable going to the left board and plug it into the right (only this cord carries enough voltage to power the blade). I had to twist it a little to get it to go. Fourth was to take the controller from my working unit and plug it into the faulty unit. I swapped them both and got crap performance out of both miners. Fifth was to send them my contact info so they can send me 1 blade to replace one of the faulty ones.
This took about a week due to the time lag between Texas and China. Kudos to Bitmain for supporting their products and not leaving me in the cold like others would.

For some strange reason 2 out of my 5 Ant Miners require re-flashing every day to bring back up to stock speeds of 441 GH/s they appear to run stable for about 12 hours or so and then both just fall to circa 420 GH/s. I have tried everything, replacing the thermal paste, swapping around the PSU's, factory restart, reboot etc. The only thing that helps (For a short period of time) is if I flash the device again and again every 12 hours or so. Has anyone else got any thoughts on what else I could do? Or do I just have 2 faulty units?
I've observed something similar with hashrates dropping to around 420 , however I also see hash rates of 460-470. Basically there's a 10% variance both + and -. I now have 4 S3's and besides the faulty one now doing 229 the rest is up and running at 427 to 444. I also have a dragon 1 Th/s miner and also this one shows a variance of up to 8% both up and down. My observations after a week are that the hash rates somehow go up and down simultaniously. So if the Antminers are "slower' the Dragonminer seems to be slower as well. Thanks, I guess I will just live with it, I suppose 40 GH/s is neither hear nor there anyway these days. if you got multiple, it will average out: I also have one "underperformer" at ~415, but the other five perform above grade: 464 (one) to 478 (four) on 237.5, so average per miner is currently 465GH, which is good. However, it all would still go sour if BTC continues to tank. Very True, What the hell is going on with the Bitcoin prices??? its in free fall! It does this all the time. if panic = high; then buy coins

Has to laugh at the s1 upgrade kit why would ya put all the parts in the kit to upgrade it to an s3 minus the 2nd fan when the s3 has the second fan there for a reason,,,, That very odd and strange not to have the 2nd fan in the upgrade kit
The parts list didn't include the case cover either. I could cynically suggest that the case cover has cosmetic value only. The omission of the second fan either demonstrates that the second fan is not really essential, or that Bitmain think that anyone upgrading would have previously overclocked their S1 and would therefore have fitted a second fan already. My vote goes for it being superfluous unless you overclock. The Bitmain website now includes a fan on the list I've considered running it without the cover just to see if it helps with the cooling on mine as I can only get it to hash stably at 212.5. My thinking behind this was the location of the control board which is now above the heatsinks and I was wondering if it was overheating, further testing required! I've had to run it with the cover off to do troubleshooting. Plus side is heat dispersion is about 3-5C better. Downside is it sounds like a vacuum cleaner with the case off. The case does a great job of dampening the fans. This noise has also turned me off to the S1 DIY kits.

Ah...Just received my reply from China on what to do. Most of it already tried like trying another power supply but now will start to swap boards with other minders to see if it's the controller board or the blade.
I've been down the same rat hole. I finally asked them what the point of this was since I got a miner that can only do 428 without choking.

As it related to sweating bullets: If I have not received anything by the end end of September I'll be filing suit in a Danish court against MAT, but I highly doubt it will come to that.
Fortunately for me a business contact of mine does a lot of legal work throughout Europe and I already have the name of an Attorney in Denmark to represent me if it comes to that. I'm kind of like Ronald Reagan when he referred to the Russians. I do a lot of leg work on companies and individuals up front before forking over money : my motto is: Trust but verify.
In the meantime - life goes on and it's Friday here an I'll be boating on bay this weekend with a cocktail in hand, not worrying about this stuff!
But why a Danish court, it is a dutch based company? It's the beauty of EU law. Member states can sue someone in another EU state. Best of luck with it. aFox in France sued KnC in Sweden and forced them to refund the miner's money as well as pay legal fees. (said lawyer is no longer taking miner cases - must be too much work too little pay)

Well are the KNC forums down? (or being wiped of negative content perhaps?)
of have I just been banned from my 3rd forum....ahem..... 1) BFL *sure they have Ninjas after me as we speak* did get miracle after 1yr and 1 day 8.5k refund thou.
2) Alpha Tech *they have compensated BFL for more Ninjas* did get a refund from them 885 usd one of few.
3) KNC *not sure if banned or site down ..have been 'warned' 3x by staff* er NO Ninja's just prob a 'frankenTitan' maybe?
So if anyone CAN get on KNC forums...we would prefer to 'try this' with someone who has not recently pissed off KNC in this forum or their forum..just in case
thank you for your time on this public service attempt...slogging over to KNC forum....I await my verdict with *breathless anticipation* er not really but sounds good..

And this is how you convert an old bathroom into a 2.6 Th/s antminer S3 farm. All six miners and Corsair 750W PSUs exhaust out the back window. Fresh air is drawn through a cracked window on the opposite side of the bathroom. Each miner is stable at 218.75 stock frequency and averages 440 Gh/s per miner. 39C-40C average temps on each. I opted for one PSU per miner as I may decide to OC and got a good deal on them. May never ROI at my electricity rates but I'm more of a hobbyist anyway...and this was a fun project. YOU NEED 6 MORE.. NICE JOB Thanks! I broke down and ordered twelve more of the S3+ models that went on sale as part of Batch 8. Suffice it to say they won't fit into this bathroom though...I'll be putting them into a custom built room in a property I own that I previously used to host twelve of the S1s. That should give me at least 8 Th/s by the end of September. The Enderby of crypto, LOVE IT, great idea. Is that the same toilet that flushed all the money to China?

It'd stand to reason that would be grounds for demanding a refund that you will never, ever receive .
FTFY , sorry, but it is unfortunately true
