Orama, will knc allow us to use neptune order money to order jupiters?
edit: realized adding more jupiters isn't really going to put a dent in the 17 PH out there now.

Good start. From private experience - despite everything positive KnC achieved - they majorly screwed up hosting and forced me into refunding my Oct Jupiters mid of October - and I know that I am not the only one who paid for their "premium" hosting upfront and received second hand treatment. They skipped order chain and delivered "postal" and "pick up" orders weeks before hosted. I suspect this is also the reason why they do not offer hosting for Neptune atm - Never ever, ever I would recommend KnC hosting... never... period. I would not deduct any points in your rating - they did an amazing job overall. Maybe just mention to treat KnC hosting with big caution.
Thats an excellent point I had overseen/forgotten. Indeed, their hosting service was quite a disaster (and way overpriced). Whats the situation on that now? Are they at all hosting for customers ? Did they refund the hosting and allow you to self host your miner? The situation when I stopped following KnC hosting debacle: - First: They advertised premium price "hosting" with "hashing a few hours after production of your rig" - this is why ppl bought it -> big fail - They hosted day1 / day 2 customers almost in timely manner (late, but with somewhat fair compensation) - After that: They delivered *postal* and *pick-up* orders following the order chain - They skipped order chain for "hosted orders", around mid of Oct I saw people after me in the order chain presenting their rigs here in the forum - I called KnC and asked for clarification. Answer: We dont know when our hosting will go online and no it was not possible to transfer "hosted" orders to "pick up" or "delivery" due to different design of "home-product" and "hosted-product" - They offered me USD refund. I ended up with giving them a 4 month free loan and around 10% financial loss due to USD -> EUR currency change - After that dunno, I heard they compensated "hosting" after day1/ day2 as well - Overall a big mess for me - 10% financial loss and had to cancel my order. I funded KnC in early June and got screwed. Just my sad meaningless story - but still I know there were others in the same situation. Treat KnC hosting with caution and expect delays and skipping of order chain Same exact story for me. No miners, lost revenue, super disappointed especially on the very poor communication from KnC. Do not do hosting with them.

It's sad, but if miners weren't such easy targets then scammers would have to try harder. I'm not saying these guys are a scam, but the proportion of scammers to honest businesses is like 10:1.
Didn't Apple have a working prototype to show to investors before they asked for money?

Thanks for the photos. The interior doesn't exaxtly instill any confidence for me to put down anything in their company. I would expect some office people or something that resembled an office instead of a construction zone.

Also can you show me which GPU "pull in excess of that"?
My bad. Was looking at dual gpu figures on tomshardware. 6990's and 7990's are beasts, for example. EDIT: ... and FWIW, just pulled the trigger on a batch 2 Neptune order. Whee ! *holds everyone tightly* *Big Hugz!*

Is the refund policy on Neptune the same as it was for the Jupiter series?
It should be. Some ppl in this forum have already gotten refunds processed for their neptune orders.
|
|
|
if KnC sells Jupiters now it would be like a huge ..l.. to everyone that bought a neptune.
|
|
|
So how many watts do the nov jupiters pull? KnC said there would be about a 30% drop in elecricity usage. I'm assuming that will be based on Nov numbers.

P69, news flash.... no one wants to do business with Americans thanks to the IRS and our banking regulations. okpay and egopay are quick ways to get money into btce if you're not in the us. btce supports usd in 24 hours or so. quit whining and go look into transfering money there through a another bank or intermediary. as a us citizen you are going to have to get creative on how you move money around. a good place to start is to look into the companies that they accept usd deposits from and work backwards to where you want to send it from. spending time creatively like that instead of calling ppl names in this forum might be a better use of your time and ours.

Beware of BitPlastic Yet more trouble with Bitplastic for me... BTC being literally stolen by the site owners after they admittedly saw it "Stuck" in the system... they did a "server upgrade" a few days ago, now they act as if the conversation we had never took place, and my BTC is gone. The amounts that DID eventually make it to the card (after depositing the btc about 2 weeks prior) was skimmed yet even more... well beyond and after they took their their "Fee" .6 is .53 after their fee. of which they loaded the card with $371.(fine) I was expecting more like what they advertised... 5%, not 5% plus whatever they can siphon from you... ended up more like 50% Totally a rip job. out of the one whole btc I sent... $371.00!
Also beware of BTC-e if you are American. Although they advertise 24 hour USD Deposits... It does not exist! I have about 20+ emails to & from support on it, and they always act stupid, like they don't understand what I'm saying. They don't even accept US Bank International transfer! So far, Bitstamp and CampBX are the only ones I have been able to successfully deal with, barring Gox in the old days when they had Dwolla... now that was a really sweet deal...
btc-e is a good exchange. They can handle volume, their API is quick, and I've made good money using them. Like DPoS said "if you need your hand held" then go somewhere else.

Here's a blatant divergence from the thread. What the author describes should be good for Bitcoin however. He get annoyed at Happy New Years wishes and decries disasters that might befall the world and the US in the coming year. When he gets to the US economy he postulates:
" But even sooner than a nuclear disaster, we may be facing an even more critical economic disaster -- the catastrophic loss of the dollar’s unique position as the international reserve currency. This is imminent, according to leading economic and political analysts, and would trigger a total collapse of the U.S. banking system, generating explosive financial panic as we are subjected – not only to massive inflation – but also the immediate seizure by failing banks of all our deposits: checking accounts, savings accounts, Certificates of Deposit (CDs), money market funds, pensions, and any other liquid assets. Can failing banks really seize our money “just like that”? Yep, just like that. It is perfectly legal; the enabling “bail-in” laws have already been put on the books in the U.S. and Europe (did you sleep through that?).
And don’t think the FDIC will protect your deposits up to the $250,000 limit promised by this agency. For when the failing banks seize your deposits, they will convert your money into stock in their failed institutions, rendering you “legally compensated” for your loss, and therefore not entitled to reimbursement by the FDIC. Not that it will matter because, by that time, the FDIC will be bankrupt, since it has reserves of only $25 billion, whereas the seized deposits requiring compensation would likely exceed $25 trillion. And even if the FDIC could lay its hands on $25 trillion (fat chance, since this is nearly twice the entire Gross Domestic Product of the United States), another statute now on the books, namely the Bankruptcy Reform Act of 2005, which was arm-twisted into law by Citigroup, JP Morgan, Chase, Wells Fargo and the rest of the usual suspects (bet you slept through that, too), compels the FDIC to give preference to derivatives counter-parties over mere depositors like yourself, whose claims for reimbursement could exceed $600 trillion – or more than the GDP of the entire world economy. "
And this is why I constantly cash my money out of my accounts and then trade that money for gold. Put the gold into a safe in my home that isn't going anywhere. I'd rather have gold any day over real money. Let the US banks fall and crash. This country really needs a good restart. It is the banking industry that is killing this country to being with. They'll stop at nothing to keep their profits high and when they start losing just a little bit or make a little less profit they go crying like babies and threaten the people with dooms day bullshit. This country unfortunately is ran by greed, not capitalism. But then again, both are the same. I look forward to the day. I'll just sit home with my Remington and watch some DVD's. If the entire economy goes belly up I'm not sure what would have more value down here in the deep south, gold or $20 rolls of quarters. You could trade possum skins and tobaccy.

Great article - 450 coins and hosted, too. I want to flush my head in the toilet over and over for getting a refund on my oct hosted orders. Ugh!

wow, this thread got OTed into next week. BTW, Happy New Year!!!

|

Their pricing scheme is a bit deceptive: Viper (Scrypt) Miner (25Mh/s) £1,635 30% Deposit Required: £1635. Total price: £5450. Remainder will need to be paid 8-10 weeks before shipment. Shipment will be extra, which shall be notified during final payment. That's about $10K total cost. I think it's too much.

It's Q1. Where's my neptune, dude?
JJ, Happy New Years from South Texas!!!

Sorry, I just don't think there is any strategy at all. Sometimes it seems like they just throw a dart at the board and go with whatever it lands on. I think we give them too much credit coming up with all these elaborate plans on if they are selling jupiters/netpunes/prunes, etc. Whoever is making business decisions at KnC really needs to be more consistent to warrant any of these conspiracy theories.

The only staff with an ongoing workload throughout the holidays are the DC guys, and those involved on the Neptune project as Asia doesn't wind down at this time of year so if they need to be liaised with throughout, which they do as it's an international effort, then the sooner the better as obviously delivery on that product is as time sensitive as always, and Asia winds down end of Jan I believe for a bit.
Isn't the first week in January their New Year. Big event there I think where everything stops except parades and party for what a week or two? Chinese new year: 2014 2014-01-31 Horse (2014-01-31—2015-02-18). Most everything comes to a standstill in Asia during this time.

It's too bad that btc n00bs will fall for BFL and their ilk. It's such a shame we have so many shiester outfits out there that are just out to take ppls money and run. I get hit up a lot more now about people that are interested in bitcoin/alts etc and they have that funny look in their eye that they are going to get rich quick. It gives me pause a bit, because they'll fall for that BFLish non-sense and not listen to caution.

Considering the Monarch is still in development and has not yet been shipped, I would hope Butterfly Labs will do the honorable thing and refund the cost difference to all of their current pre-order holders. Fat chance of that ever happening. My money is on getting struck by lightening first than that ever occurring.
