841  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Neptune Controller Board Problem on: March 30, 2015, 07:13:48 PM
Recovery to RC6 didn't work either.  Starting to run out of ideas.

So far what I have found is instead of a long white flash, I get 3 short ones each separated by several seconds.  Never gets the green light.
842  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Neptune Controller Board Problem on: March 30, 2015, 06:31:16 PM
did you try to reflash the last firmware ?

Yep.  Even went down to 1.02 and back up to 1.06s.  I figure something is corrupt somewhere that's not being overridden.
843  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Neptune Controller Board Problem on: March 30, 2015, 06:11:49 PM
did you try with only one cube ?
wich psu you use ?

Yep.  I've got a Corsair 850 only supplying power to the BB.  The cubes are on separate 850w psus.  Same issue with cubes on 1200w plat server psu.

Going to try a recovery sd now.
844  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Neptune Controller Board Problem on: March 30, 2015, 06:03:22 PM
what about the ledīs on the controller board ?
power supply ok ?

Yep.  I can even reach the GUI, just doesn't show cubes.
845  Bitcoin / Hardware / KNC Neptune Controller Board Problem on: March 30, 2015, 05:45:36 PM
So I've had a 6 cube Neptune running for the past week without issues.  About 2 hours ago, it quit mining and the gui shows no cubes.  I've tried restarts, plug/unplug but no help.  This is currently the second board I have with this issue.  What's the issue?  I know I must be missing something.  Does the firmware just get corrupted and needs a recovery SD?
846  Economy / Computer hardware / 18TH Package Price Check on: March 30, 2015, 03:24:58 PM
Is $8500 a good deal for both the buyer and seller?

18TH:

5-SP20
4-S5
2-Neptunes
10-Plat 1000w Server PSU w/ breakout boards and pci-e cables.

Should it be more? Less?
847  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB Maine coon kitten on: March 30, 2015, 02:28:49 AM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought only females can be Calico?

"Because genetic determination of some coat colors in cats is linked to the X chromosome, calicoes are nearly always female.[2][4] Because of the genetics involved, calico males are rare, and generally have impaired vitality and are almost always sterile."
848  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: 2 AVA4.1s Won! [2200 TH] CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: March 30, 2015, 01:41:56 AM

Nope, nothing to do with rental - it's a pool, no rental code in it (yet) Smiley

Shifts are groupings of work into larger units used for payout calculations.
They were originally ~30s but they are now summarised (in groups of 100x~30s or stopping at a pool block) to now be around 40-50min each.
As you can see on the shifts pages, that also makes it a manageable amount of data to report on and graph.

Or one of the posts about it:

Thanks for the link.  It makes sense now.  I read that originally, but didn't think it applied to me at the time. Smiley

So with the additional shift changes and such, can someone point me to some reading on what exactly these 'shifts' are?  I'm guessing they have to do with rented hashrate, but that's still just a guess.

Miner Porn

Funny, I wonder how many of those little wire shelf setups have been sold to miners.  I've got 3 myself.

Sorry, was away from the thread for a bit.

I received my 10 Plat kits today.  Yes I'm using these on 240v.  I had to do some digging for a jumper, so only have one up and running right now.  Yes, very easy to set up.  And I decided to just let this one SP20 do it's thing to see what it would do.

The SP20 is running 1600gh at 1051w chip level.  I know it's high, but I'm just playing.  My others are all running around 1200gh at 600w chip level. Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to get stuff set up.  When it's said and done, I'll have (4) S5, (5) SP20, & (3) Neptune going for around 20TH.

These breakout boards are FANTASTIC.  Very good quality and nice snug fit on the PSU.  Now what to do with all of these Corairs Smiley
852  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: interest? bulk antminer s5 100 unit group buy hosted & resold seperate FAST ROI on: March 28, 2015, 01:06:56 AM
I'd need to see more info in the hosting side of it.  I've also done the $100k+ selling miners on ebay in 2014 & $75k in 2013.  By the time Ebay/Paypal take their cuts, shipping costs, scams, and your 10%, what's going to be left if hosting is very much.

Currently I'm paying $.06759/kwh including taxes so there'd have to be a decent incentive from the hosting side.
853  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: With great power comes a great electricity bill on: March 28, 2015, 12:18:46 AM
All of this is done just with greed.  The network could be secured with just x number of people (20,000) running one usb stick each.  The diff would be low and the electricity use would be low, but no one would make money except those 20,000.
854  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: antminer s6 4500gh/s 1000watts on: March 27, 2015, 05:22:27 PM

Isn't that really unsafe if you do a bad wiring job?

No bad wiring job!  I used to be an electrician for 2.5 years.

What are you referring to that could possibly be unsafe?

Very clean job I agree.  For doing it yourself looks very nice. I also wonder what was the unsafe part.

855  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Has mining (vs. simply buying) ever been profitable? on: March 25, 2015, 02:26:35 PM
if mining is profitable, it's always better to mine than investing in bitcoin directly, because you will end up with more btc at the end, simply buying can increase your capital(if bitcoin rise), but do not increase your bitcoin amount(unless you are a good trader too), were with mining you increase both

Only if costs of production are less than amount of coin mined.

I see so many posts about free electricity, etc.  Mining uses electricity.  Even if YOU don't directly pay for it, somebody does.  But the simple fact is some folks are/were able to mine with equipment that produced more coins over their life time than they cost (less resale value).  In 2013, almost all of my mining was profitable because the miners held their value while I was churning them.  2014 was just minimally profitable for me.  Here my electricity costs are $.0751/kwh.
856  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 3.3 ths 20 nm knc neptune. NEW on: March 24, 2015, 08:21:03 PM
Wow!  Good luck!  I just listed a 6 cube 4Th Neppie on craigslist for $1,350.  I must be way underpriced.
857  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: IBM 2880W Bladecenter PSU Breakout Boards - 80+ Platinum power on: March 23, 2015, 03:29:27 PM
I've got 3 new 220v 30a lines being installed today.  Might have to look at trying one or three out when you solve the fan noise issue.

Just placed an order for 10 of the Plat kits.  Pete was very helpful answering questions.
859  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Methods of getting free electricity on: March 23, 2015, 12:15:21 PM

... I already have the lumber yard  Grin

Where's yours?  Mine's in Missouri.

Not to many states away.  Can I ask why  price electricity you are getting in Missouri.

Here at the store, I'm getting .0751/kwh after taxes and such.
860  Economy / Computer hardware / Price Check on Neptune Cubes on: March 23, 2015, 12:46:49 AM
I just purchased 3 Neptunes and got what I think is a decent deal.  Out of the 15 cubes, there are probably 4 or 5 that a couple of dies will drop power after a bit.  Is there any value to these cubes on a resale market since not all dies appear to work?
