881  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: OregonMines Group Buy $0.24-$0.26/GH Colocated SP20s on: March 05, 2015, 01:13:55 AM
This seems interesting and probably posted in the wrong place.  But in the interest of it maybe being beneficial to both of us, I'll make this offer to you and post it to keep things on the up and up.

I currently pay $1.67 per day for my SP20s.  So I'd do $2.00 per day for each on a 90 day agreement for 5 units.  During which time I will review the operations and dealings with your company and support.  I would do the $399 option for the 5 units with OgNasty providing escrow during the 90 day period.  At the end of the 90 day period if the terms have been met, I'll submit the additional $250 and have the units shipped to me.  Upon receipt of the units, OgNasty would release the escrow.

What's the speed on these and power consumption?  I know what the spec sheets say, but there were some problems with the batches.

These are from the first batch if that helps. Speed is ~4.45Th/s for ~2.9kW. These specs vary based on your cooling conditions.

How about underclocking?  Are the numbers comparable to the sp20e except 30 chips instead of 8?  Can these units achieve the same underclocking benefits that the Sp20e can (ie. low .5w/gh)?

To help out roadstress, here are my results on 240v

Perfect, thanks.  I figured as much, but wanted to make sure before running numbers.

Buy 10 pieces SP20 for 200 $ Smiley

I have 7 left and that's a great price you'll have to find somewhere else.

Crazy, what is the price on the remaining 7 sp20?  Is it the $479.99 as stated in the old OP?

Man, the shipping kills it.
887  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: February 26, 2015, 04:18:29 PM
Its getting very expensive because of a monopoly of the technology, or lack or competition, or monopolizing the the industry because of trade secrets and cost of development, to mine a speculative crypto currency.

Because the people developing the miners, are realizing it's easier and more profitable to deal with big farms, or simply mine for themselves, than to deal with every whiney ass customer with a complaint.

If spondoolie is smart, they release bulk sales only, and allow only authorized dealers to resell, let them deal with the people. Let spon spend their time on new tech!

That philosophy was declared by BFL Josh.  Not sure how it's going to work out for them in the long run.

That was 33 days from out of the box to reboot.
Same here, had it running without a hitch for weeks, and a couple of days ago, I noticed it had halved hash-rate. Did a software reboot and all was OK until I noticed the same yesterday ... another software reboot and its fine thus far. A bit worrying if you are not keeping an eye on it though ....

One of mine did this to me today.

I've had 1 of my 2 units do this twice now.  It ran for almost a month with no issues, then I noticed it was only running at half speed.  A reboot solved it for about 2 weeks and then it did it again.  I now check first thing in the morning when I get to the office.

The only time my SP20s are down is when I update the firmware. Otherwise they have been rock solid.  Received them a day after the S5 units.

Is there some significance to the 42?

42 is THE answer! Wink

+1

Also, noticed I actually found a block last week on this pool. Yeah!!
890  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: miners running wirelessly in an outbuilding? on: February 13, 2015, 12:30:32 AM
I run a powerline adapter from inside my garage to the house.  Works like a charm.  The plug you use should not have a switch or be spliced or be part of other chains.

modem->router->Powerline Adapter->Garage->powerline adapter->48port switch->miner

+1 different brands, but same results
891  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: miners running wirelessly in an outbuilding? on: February 12, 2015, 03:20:05 AM
yes it works.  Use an access point and plug it into a hub.  Plug sp20 into hub. As long as you have power in the outbuilding and strong enough signal from wireless, you are good to go.  I've had 8 s-1 units running that way last year.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to SP-T.  Bitmain just shot themselves in the foot with their price increases.  Keep being a responsible vendor, and I'll keep buying your products.

My attitude is much simpler now.  I've run over $100k of sales of bitmain products this past year.  Watching the price rise, I've decided SP-T will be getting my future business and Bitmain will get no more.

My dog has ability to move and see at ultra high speed (at nearly 150 FPS). Thats my conclusion after witness him doge a light spark from my fireworks by bending down and lick his balls.

Anything wrong with my conclusion? Should i test this with a Glock?

PS. you didnt understand jack about sound wave let alone calling something "Active Noise Cancellation". Go to a Cinema, buy all the seats then start experiment listening at every seat.....

I hate it when I read comments that make me go back and figure out wtf is going on.  All I can say is that I'm glad I wasn't taking a drink when I read this one!  Grin

For some reason this thought does not register, but it is a bit silly to immediately adjust the dollar price to any movement in BTC/$ ratio.
Why not price it in BTC, then?

Agreed.  That was the original thought process behind these bitcoin companies.  It used to be fun thinking you were getting a deal because the price was set in bitcoin, and $/btc went higher.  Hard the believe the companies that gain the most from bitcoin won't use it as the currency.

-----BOARD-3-----
PSU[UNKNOWN]: 0->(205w/205w)[205 205 205] (->205w[205 205 205]) (lim=150) 0c 345GH cooling:0/0x0

Why do you suppose my board 3 exceeds the limit I have set of 150 in the settings tab? I would think it should have limited it like the other boards (<146).
897  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: January 21, 2015, 05:04:28 PM
On a related note, anyone have an idea as to why 2 of my SP20s show up on myminer.io, but the other 4 don't?
898  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: January 21, 2015, 03:38:24 PM
..........Most folks will have an electricity rate higher than $0.10/kWh so their net monthly profits will be lower, their recovery time will be longer, and the "sweet spot" will be an even more aggressive underclock.

I see that DiCE1904 has provided a handy table of SP20 values. Smiley

Your example is great and almost how I calculate also.  EXCEPT, you are using different wattage amounts when I use the same wattage and just extrapolate the hashing and asset cost difference.  When calculating based on lower total watts used, I can definitely see the underclocking stance.  I make the assumption that miners would want to use as much of their circuit for hashing as possible.  So if I have 4,000 watts, what does the asset cost difference between under/over clocking and recoup from the additional hashrate.

Although it's all just mental masturbation as it's doubtful right now these will ever ROI in btc terms.  Fun hobby that keeps me off the streets Smiley
899  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: January 21, 2015, 04:05:10 AM
Or, as the artificial intelligence WOPR concludes in the the 1983 movie WarGames, sometimes "the only winning move is not to play."

Okay, that I understand Smiley

So I was just using an arbitrary $.10/kwh rate.  You are saying there may be a sweet spot where rates are high enough that it would make more sense to run underclocked rather than stock.  I'd have to see hard numbers to get it when trying to compare apples to apples.  For the additional capital outlay, I don't see the underclocking making up the difference in a reasonable time.  Since in my example I'm going to pay the same amount for electricity whether I'm using underclocked units or stock units I'm having a hard time seeing the underclock advantage for best dollars spent.

This is what helped me make up my mind on where to set my miners settings at.

Got it now. Thanks.  At current price of btc, the extra 400gh/s return is higher than the additional wattage used for me.

What temperature should I aim for to prevent harming the SP20?
I am reaching 78C on Back T,B with 23C intake.
Also does anyone have a calculator or chart showing effeciency ?
Clocking it down to around 1050GH gets me around 0.51 watt per GH.

Take a look at your chip temps.  They are more important than the temp of the air leaving the machine.
70-100c only 1 was 100c

Those are good solid numbers. >115 it starts alerting and I think at 125 it adjusts the chip <?>.
