I keep writing my Congressmen to kill that stupid law, but they all write back in their red-neck talk spouting this and that about "terrorists". Don't they know that a war against "terrorism" is like creating a war against the echelon formation, or guerrilla warfare? Sometimes I really hate living in the red states (except for Husker red, of course )

I know this is hashed all over, but I have 2 HD 5770, and rather than scouring the web (since this is the equivalent of me trying to find the best set of fishing gear (hint, i'm not a fisherman)), can someone recommend a good water block for the HD 5770? Once mining becomes unprofitable for me, it'll just be my gaming rig for a couple more years, and I'd like to OC the cards for that as well. Once someone points me in the direction of a good GPU water block for my cards, I'll match up the rest of the gear (CPU block, tubes, etc) with crap from the same company

my work blocks VNC, so I tried going over a different port, but I think they wised up to me, so now I gotta find yet another port! Unless they're blocking everything except for certain ports, then maybe I'll set my home VNC to 80 or something since I don't run a website at home
I may try team viewer as well

well that's weird, because I had the same issue, only I rebooted my computer, and it's been idle all day, so my temps should be back down to ambient, but I get the same issues, (ie, it won't start even after being idle forever). I haven't had a chance to get home to see in person, this is all remote so far. So in case my cards went kaput, I'm at least getting video over RDP. Soon as I get home I'll try to launch a video game and see what's up. It is getting super hot here in kansas, maybe my AC died at my house... but won't know anything until I get home so meanwhile I'm not generating any btc

Since there seem to be a fair number of 'hard money' enthusiasts interested in bitcoin, does anyone here "roll hunt" for older silver, copper or nickel coins to sell for more than the face value? Looking for silver coins in miscellaneous change was popular around 30 years ago, but that resource is rather mined out. I'm sad and embarrassed to say that I found my mom's silver dime collection when I was a child, and only saw them as dimes, and stole them to buy a bunch of candy. I still regret that, but have never told her.

Looks good. Now we need someone to write one that does do a conservative estimate of additional difficulty increases. Difficulty increases aren't completely predictable, but writing an estimator that uses the exponential curve that best fits previous increases would be a good start.
I would gladly write that in if somebody would help me with the mathematical calculations to do this. Anybody have an idea on how to do this? you could take previous difficulties, and the time it took between them, and extrapolate possible future difficulties.

I bought a MoneyPak and all I did was hand cash and get the card at a 7/11
Interesting, and you didn't have to verify SSN later like on the phone or anything? Can you use it like a CC (say if I want to buy something from newegg) or in an ATM?

If strippers took bitcoins instead of cash I'd be very bitcoin broke right now

Are there any prepaid cards that you don't need to give name/SSN/etc for? Like if I walk into Walmart and buy one of their cards, how does that work? I'd like to get one to use to buy crap online and then refill (through places like bitcoinexchange.cc) with GreenDot, etc. Ideally this could be used at an ATM machine as well

Mac OS X is based on BSD... so which should we pick?
Yes, and BSD and Solaris are both Unix so pick (other) since I did not list Unix. Seriously, what's the point in playing stupid? It should be obvious which choice is for you if you use a Mac, but even if it isn't: My first post says "if you don't know, don't answer the poll". I was being a smart-ass, sheesh. Joke was lost on the audience

Like I said before, it's the reason I run NoScript, AdBlock, etc, etc, and then massage out the crap that I'll permit the websites to allow to my computer. I can *guarantee* you that if a website pulled this crap on me and didn't let me know or let me opt out, I would *never* visit that site again. I have a CPU usage gadget thingy running on my computer (for other reasons), but it is a nice way to discover run-away processes. So if I start up a huge game and it spikes, I know what's going on, but if I open up a webpage and see it spike, I know something's amiss and leave there immediately.

I do not advocate this unless the following is mentioned on pages that use this: 1. tell the user what you're going to do if they go further into your site 2. don't have the script for the home page, in case someone is there by accident, or doesn't wish to go further (see 1) 3. possibly have an "opt-out" if you're running a site that has paying subscribers... have the paying subscribers not have this, or perhaps an "opt-in" for them, otherwise off by default If you want to piss of the rest of the world against bitcoins, this is the way to do it. This is why I run crap like AdBlock, disable Javascript unless I *really* want to use those features on a site, block flash, etc, etc.

You could almost build an entire other computer for what you will spend on the oil. It's not like you just dump vegetable oil in it and turn it on.
Actually you can do just that. Obviously there are some precautions to take, but you can use vegetable oil.

Ok I get it now. Cool concept, and I may make some pass-line bets to help you test stuff out, but I'm gonna mostly hold off until you allow placing odds bets and place bets I have a couple ideas, and you can take with a grain of salt, but I'm only offering them up because I was considering doing craps as well, and you beat me to it, so maybe you can use these ideas! **Please note I mean absolutely no disrespect at all with these suggestions, nor am I suggesting that you hadn't thought of them yet... but if you hadn't, I think it could work...**In your current setup, the bets I'm talking about could be possible in the following scenarios: Pass-line with odds. Let's say you allow 2x odds that pay true odds (since that's really what that bet is), you could maybe allow a person to submit .3 btc, one of which is the .1 passline, and then if the rolls establish a number, the .2 become the odds until win or loss. If they crap out or get a 7, you could refund the additional .2 btc along with their winnings (or just the .2 if they crapped out). Otherwise they'd get back the .3 plus winnings. I understand transaction fee, but odds bets are the only true odds, so I feel like those should be transaction-free It's your call of course. Also, I think place bets would be possible in your scenario (or place bets plus pass-line odds) by letting the player specify their pass-line bet (and any odds), and then what they want to place (with the understanding that they can't remove place bets since you're limited... that could help the house advantage and limit your transaction fees and maybe help paying closer to traditional odds). So anyway, if I was playing .1 pass with .2 odds, then maybe I could lay down 2.2 inside, submit 2.5 total, and then you let your roll magic work and then go line-by-line noting each of the place bets and what they would pay, and then getting to a 7 or whatever was established on the come-out roll, and then refunding if necessary (due to like a 7 on first roll or something). It could be quick, or could go on for a couple rolls. Anyway, I mean no disrespect at all, I just love craps and offering up the ideas!

|
|
For the pass line, are you counting anything but a 7 and craps? or anything but craps? or just 4,5,6,7,8,9,10? (I know some casinos are now allowing 3 and 11 and even 2 and 12 on come-outs for pass-lines.
|
|
|
I want to play 22 inside, including on the Come-out roll, so all bets are live, can I do that? Also, can I lay odds on my pass bet, and does it pay true odds? [edit]: ok I guess I didn't quite get how the site worked at first, but now I do, so this is just basically one roll of the dice, and you bet on that one roll, right?

People getting into bitcoins now are still going to be OK. It's like arriving at the party at 11pm when all the good partiers hit at 10. There's still some good weed, and some of the women are still looking for dates. When the crowd hits at midnight, they're going to be jealous, and you're going to have a good time.
