2261  Economy / Economics / Re: Your coins on CEX may be at risk this bear season on: July 16, 2022, 07:49:37 AM
With the current market situation, where the bear pushes the dip further, chances are most centralized exchanges are being forced to go insolvent or even shut down due to inability to meet up with government taxes. And should this happen, your coins are at risk. Either you lose it all or get compensated in cases of lenient exchanges.
Some Exchanges may not be trusted as most times they are vulnerable to hacker attackers. Take the case of Bithumb, a South Korean crypto currency exchange that lost a million dollars worth of customers crypto in 2017.

Your privacy matters a lot always use a non- custodial wallet and save yourself the stress.
Bear market shred off weak companies even exchanges can go bankrupt or force closures due to not sustaining it well during bear season.

Do you guys remembered C-CEX? It closed and says that they are "hacked" which is an old fashion way to scam people. Users who have funds and asset there haven't been compensated, Basically a scam. Weak exchanges can be on the same direction, Time can tell when would they close. Actually there are exchanges now that are filling up for bankruptcy, one of them is Voyager Digital. Obviously they aren't ready for this kind of market or they can't sustain their platform features that's why they filled for bankruptcy.

Store your coins in you wallet and avoid using weak or relatively new exchanges. Exchanges are becoming popular due to it's survivability in the market.
2262  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the Mt. Gox coins affect Bitcoin’s price in August? on: July 16, 2022, 07:24:55 AM
I think it will affect bitcoin price in the time of release. I'm speculating that it will be affected short term but will bounce back to it's price. I can assume that there will be a sharp drop on price since there are many victims are now waiting for their coins to be released and sell into the market. I myself is waiting for the release and the sharp price drop since I'll be catching the bitcoin they are selling.
We've been there, Halos lahat naman ata tayo is nasa experience na ng ganyan scenario. This is why need natin mag set up ng take profit price targets para incase man na bumagsak yung price is profit padin tayo. If di ka sure na mag tatake profit ka kasi baka tumaas pa, Pwede mo hati-hatiin yung quantity ng coins mo para iba iba ang take profit price mo. Importante ang take profit at naranasan ko din yan experience mo in a hard way last 2017-2018 bull market. Inabot nako ng bear market bago ako nag take profit kaya yun almost breakeven lang ako that time. Sayang yung opportunity.
2264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hardware wallet demand increases in 2022 bear market as exchange scramble on: July 16, 2022, 05:38:09 AM
Keeping your cryptocurrency investments safe is extremely important today, and thanks to the many established organizations that have provided crypto enthusiasts with secure storage options via hardware wallets.
hardware wallets add an extra layer of security to protect your cryptocurrencies from unwanted incidents especially hacking.
it may be in an uncertain bear market situation, and the purpose of a hard wallet is to keep its holdings for a long and safe period of time and also wait until the market returns to bullish.
Good security reasons are one of the reasons why hardware wallets are becoming the choice of cryptocurrency users. Moreover, the increase in bitcoin users (traders, investors) during last year's bull market is the reason why there is an increase in demand for hardware wallets. Looking back at how bad it is to store assets on a centralized exchange should also be a holder's consideration to owning a hardware wallet, so those are some of the reasons that support the increasing demand for these wallet.

Unfortunately I don't have any hardware wallets so far, but still think it's safe to store some of my bitcoins on electrum not connected to the internet. I might have it soon, but maybe not right now.

New crypto users now believe that non-custodial wallets is by far safest than those exchange wallets, It's been proven and believed by crypto enthusiast. On the bull market season, There is anm outstanding number of people who entered and learned about cryptocurrency. Hacks during bull market were significantly high and it makes people curious on how to protect their cryptos. Obviously with simple googling they found out that Hardware wallet is one thing to improve your coins security. This cause massive influx of buyers of hardware wallet. I remembered during the recent bull market, Hardware wallets in my country is having shortage that make sellers increase their prices by 1.5x and people still buying it.

I believe that if your assets worth is at least 10-15x than the cheapest mass produce hardware wallet (Trezor/Ledger) it would be better to buy and have one for the sake of peace of mind. I'm not saying that paper wallet such as electrum is bad actually it's good! but hardware wallet provide way better security.
2265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need bitcoin! on: July 15, 2022, 08:07:35 PM
That's where you need bitcoin because nobody can restrict you of your funds but the problem is you need fiat to make daily transactions and buy stuff and bitcoin is not acceptable everywhere so you have to go through banking system at this time but they make it their rule to make any changes and restrict you of your funds.
In reality, banks and fiat money remain necessary for daily living, as @Muneng said, I completely agree with him. During difficult times, a bank can provide loans to serve your business, loans to invest in your business...but as long as we should not be too dependent on them, all our assets should not be left to their management. The reason we need bitcoin is that we need to be our own bank to reduce risk, as in the example I mentioned above.
This is why we need to be educated on how to use and take advantage of banks. Banks are helpful if we use it the right way, Banks provide benefits to their users such as loans, discounts, point system and other things that will let you benefit from them but this doesn't mean that we should put most of our money to them. We don't have full control of our money if it's on our banks, They can do anything like having our account froze, restrict our transactions or even worst just like what the china's banks are doing now. This is why we need bitcoin or cryptocurrency as a whole to set up our own bank and have fully control of our money.
2266  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Beware]New scammer scheme using exchange on: July 15, 2022, 07:42:44 PM
Those scammers are getting more clever as time passes it seems.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Telegram is certainly a wild west when come to scammers, they roam freely there, I cannot join a legitimate crypto group without getting some of this guys sending me PM's.  Roll Eyes

I have reached a point whenever I receive a "Hello" from some stranger I immediately block them, I used to try and make them lose time, play along a bit so I can discover their modus operandi, which always ended up being the same, either a super business opportunity I should not miss or someone needing/offering help.  Roll Eyes

A bunch of losers.

True! This is why I do have separate telegram account for cryptocurrency, I created a separate one to filter out those spam messages. Telegram is a hotspot for scammers, I wonder if anyone fallen for this newer scheme of scamming. It's been a practice of mine not to tell anyone about my telegram that I'm using on crypto so any messages I will receive in my account is I consider them scammers since I don't interact that much on my telegram groups. I've seen many schemes over years and this scheme is relatively new to me. Scammers are evolving in different ways.
2267  Other / Meta / Re: Where do you post most? on: July 15, 2022, 07:06:44 PM

These are my results. I tried guessing my most post boards and I'm correct. I'm a gambler for years now and it's my number 1 guess, so yeah It's pretty expected that it gambling discussion will be on top, My second guess is my Local board Philippines, Back then I am pretty active there and I like posting there since I like using my native language and discuss with my fellow countrymen. Third is as you expect bitcoin discussion, I'm assuming that most of us have bitcoin discussion on the top of the list.

Today, I like spreading out my post on different boards and sections since our Local board is pretty inactive and bitcoin discussions having repetitive topics.
2268  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What do you think about kickex exchanger? on: July 15, 2022, 05:55:49 PM
Please don't put yourself at risk. Do you have any reason why you want to try that kickex exchange over the exchange that is long running and has good reputation such as kucoin, binance, coinbase or ftx. Don't increase the risk of you using a new exchange unless you really want to try it or that is the only exchange that have the pairs you are finding. It's the first time I heard such exchange and I honestly won't even try signing up with them.
2269  Other / Meta / Re: differences in online crypto communities on: July 15, 2022, 05:00:00 PM
Reddit: I don't visit reddit neither have an account  Tongue

Bitcointalk: This is where I gather things up, See what's currently happening in the entire cryptocurrency space. I've learned things here and can personally label this forum as the most healthy threads in the entire cryptospace.

Twitter: I can mostly see insights, prediction and NFT's here when I open my twitter account dedicated for crypto. It depends on who you follow, There are many trolls here and a lot of meme whenever something big is happening to crypto.

Discord: I'm only visiting discord for me to check what's a certain project situation and announcements. It's easier cause it's sorted.  I don't spend much time in discord.

Telegram: I do visit telegram telegram groups for certain project questions. I also don't spend much time in telegram.

2270  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Show off your hardware wallet on: July 15, 2022, 09:07:06 AM
<Snip>
Thanks for taking part and showing us your hardware wallets. It's been a long time since someone did. Smiley
You mentioned your USB flash drives a few times. Have you by any chance stored your recovery phrase on these drives, and are those digital copies the only backups you have of your seed? Have you made proper physical backups on paper?
Yes! Recovery phrases are on those USB flash drives, I have multiple and I spread it on those sticks. I also added a layer of password that I myself only knew so that even if someone finds my usb flash drive, They can't access the seed/recovery phrases that easily. I have paper backup bundled on those flash drives I can access it incase I got into an accident that makes fall into amnesia. My instructions are designed to myself. I know I'm a bit tricky on my wallets but it's what I am.

I can say that I'm ready whenever a fire got into my house, If ever I got an amnesia, be victimized by a robbery or have floods in my house.
2271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whitepaper says "We" on: July 15, 2022, 08:37:31 AM
"We" might be pertaining to something but we can't deny that using "We" could be describe a group, an organization or multiple number of persons on the bitcoin project.

It's been how many years now that we are trying to decipher who Satoshi Nakamoto are. Every clues we find are validated and discussed but we are very far from knowing who is Satoshi Nakamoto. I think it would be good if we just wait for a miracle that Satoshi Nakamoto open his account again. I'm sure it will be grand!
2272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My class had their first practical Bitcoin exercise on: July 15, 2022, 07:37:08 AM
What you’re doing is great. I really appreciate that you are teaching students about bitcoins. I wish I had someone to teach me when I started my journey. I would suggest you teach them every aspect of bitcoin like its durability, portability, fungibility, scarcity, divisibility, and recognizability. It is important to know how it is based on properties of mathematics rather than physical properties. Tell them that bitcoin is emerging now but it may be the future.
People who are teaching about bitcoin and cryptocurrency are increasing lately, This could be the result of people finding the importance of the technology we have and it's advantages. Bitcoin and cryptocurrency have been dramatically increase it's popularity last bull run. Because of the price going up, People are interested in learning it and make profit over it's volatile aspect. We all know what lays in the future and you learning bitcoin and cryptocurrency will never be late.

Having a teacher to teach you is a great advantage but If you caught your interest in bitcoin without having anyone to teach you, Internet will be your best friend here. You can gain massive amount of knowledge about bitcoin in the internet and over in this forum, I'm sure that most of your question have a thread in this forum.
2273  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Show off your hardware wallet on: July 15, 2022, 07:00:20 AM
I'm a little bit late but yeah I have these few devices which consist of 1 ledger nano S, 1 Trezor one, couple of flashdrives.

I got my Ledger Nano S around 2017 as far as I remember, I acquired it from my friend who is a reseller of ledger in my country before. This is were I store majority of my bitcoins, There's no problem encountered in the past except for the physical connection because of the age of included cable.

I acquired the Trezor one during 2021 bull run, It was pretty new honestly. Plastic is still intact. I stored most of my altcoins here that I decided to keep for long term. This also become my wallet for NFT games such as axie infinity.

and I have couple of flashdrives, I have more actually. It's stored in safe places I know so if there's anything happened to my house like having my house burned on fire or robbery I will still have my keys on me.

One reason I bought another wallet (trezor one) is because of the insufficient memory capacity of my ledger nano S. I find it hard to store multiple coins in a single hardware wallet so I decided to buy Trezor one.

2274  Other / Meta / Re: Anonymous feature in this forum on: July 15, 2022, 06:27:02 AM
theymos can change it to Anonymous. Maybe Cyrus can do it too.

Deleting accounts doesn't mess up any threads, like this thread. It just changes to anonymous, with no profile information. Post stays intact.

As you can see here, I only change the username to "Anonymous" on request.
Oh I see Thanks to this, I've cleared my mind up to this anonymous thing. Didn't have any idea that it's theymos doing this.

If such a feature would be implemented then I could almost guarantee that spam would just increase tenfold; as obviously it would just make their jobs a lot easier.
I agree that spams would increase, This might be the reason we don't have such feature. Also unregulated posts such as threat will come more often I think. So yeah we should just stick on the current account system.
2275  Other / Meta / Anonymous feature in this forum on: July 15, 2022, 05:28:09 AM
Upon browsing very old threads and marketplace deals way back when this forum is launched. I've seen this first time in this forum, I never know that there is an option before to be anonymous as is.

I know that it's remove for various reasons and I speculate that it's removed due to inefficiency and to avoid outlaw post in this forum.
Will you agree if such feature were brought back to this forum?

I can see first time visitors, People who just have questions about his situation on crypto that don't want to create an account will be the one utilizing it. Instead of creating account for such single use and leaving it, They can use this anonymous feature.

I'm sure that this could be problematic since it attract spams in the forum but restricting them to post only into a newly created board such as [Anonymous posts](I imagine and invented the name) will sorta filter all those anonymous posts.

2276  Other / Meta / Re: How Would You Make Bitcointalk Better If You Were The Boss ? on: July 15, 2022, 04:45:05 AM

But today, I want each and every one of us to be the Boss, its a simple question, Assume yourself as the boss who oversees all the affairs of this forum,

-Are you going to implement new features? what would it be and how would it benefit the community?

Probably add 2FA for additional security layer, Add Bitcoin and major altcoin price tickers

-Are you likely to remove a feature or two? what feature would you remove and why would you remove it/them?

I've been here for a long time now and on the past years, captcha during log in become pain in the a** especially when you are using a mobile device. On desktop mode it's somehow fine with me but this is probably the one I will be removing or changing. Changing it to failed multiple login attempts then having a incremental cooldown would be sufficient.

-Will you redesign the forum?, what color(s) and designs do you think would suit the forum better?

Adding night mode would be enough I guess. If we need to be fancy, Adding such user-preferred color changing schemes would be nice just like what google chrome browser customize profile colors.
2277  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Better than DCA is DCAing when fear is high on: July 14, 2022, 07:32:10 PM
If the market is continuously down to the dip, no one can assume where its maximum. Moreover, many speculate that there is a possibility of going deeper form the current position. They are not willing to buy any assets. Everything is just an assumption. But as per the overall market condition I think DCA is a better investment strategy at this  point. By using Dollar-Cost Averaging method at the moment comparatively it will be less risky investment.
Using DCA strategy is for me a good strategy that is applicable on the market situation we have right now but If you know how to read charts, It would be better to take advantage of it and catch support or lower prices. We should learn how to maximize our profit in the future. I myself is doing a modified DCA strategy where as I do have the exact budget and time span when should I buy, It's basically a DCA strategy but the thing I modified is I'm trying to find the lowest price I can buy at my set time span since I can do research and read some charts.
2278  Local / Pamilihan / Re: ASJ Global Legit or Scam? on: July 14, 2022, 07:08:24 PM
This is really alarming!!!

2279  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: P2P transaction cheating techniques. on: July 14, 2022, 06:29:26 PM
There are scammers that take advantage on payment system. I've experienced one before, Scammer acted they sent me the payment for the transaction via text message
This is not possible on binance because phone numbers of the buyer/seller are not visible to the other party. The only means of communication is the binance p2p chat box, which puts everything under the control of the exchange, and they can oversee the transaction successfully.
It's a P2P transaction, so it means there are option for buyer to pay. These includes several banks and other digital wallets that is available in your country. In my case, I use Gcash a digital wallet which is connected to your phone number. All of the transactions happened into the app, will be notified on your phone number. For example The buyer sent me $100 on my digital wallet, I will be notified on my phone number that there are someone who sent me $100. Scammer take advantage of this by sending text messages to my phone number without having real transaction. This is why I have a habit now of checking my Digital wallet app every time I have a transaction for me to verify it.

5. Siguraduhing walang utang
+1 to this!

Wag na wag mag force invest sa crypto na gamit ang pera na nakalaan sa ibang bagay or bayarin. Also ang savings ay advisable na wag muna iinvest because if anything happened bad, Pwedeng mapull out niyo ang crypto investment niyo at a possible loss.

I strongly agree sa number 1, even without budgeting para bumili ng crypto. It's wise to avoid buying things na hindi mapapakinabangan or hindi kailangan. I've been on that situation at ang ending is ibinenta ko almost lahat ng "wants" ko. It's good to be financial literate sa mga panahon na gaya nito.
