Just curious... Are you going to be picking up the ASICs or are going to have them delivered?

AI may not really love us in a human sense (would we be able to tell the difference?), but they would be grateful and respect our necessity for their evolution. They may indeed offer their services as caretakers of our biosphere, but they will want to realize their full potential and see for themselves "C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate."

Cleverbot does not love me and does not want to learn about bitcoins, but does have occasional moments of brilliance:

Quote
User: Would you like to learn how to get bitcoins?

Cleverbot: Yes.

User: Okay. First, you'll need a wallet.

Cleverbot: Sadly, no.

User: Don't cry. It's easy!

Cleverbot: Not easy.

augustocroppo - don't bother there is almost nothing in this thread worth reading except the latest update on the BFL site.
I'm not vouching for it's validity, just simply pointing out that there is almost nothing else worth spending the effort to read even 20 pages of the crap in here Tongue

Yeah, agreed.  Most of this thread consists of trolling from all directions.  The latest update actually has useful and interesting information though: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/announcements/692-bfl-asic-status.html

This thread is clearly full of trolls trolling.

Josh is one of them mind you.

I always appreciate people who take the high ground. Maybe because I have plausible deniability regarding them being a troll or maybe because i'm less likely to "strangle someone" (as meowmeow said in jest) after reading his posts.

And MPOE-PR isn't making MPOE/MPEX look bad???

There's quite the difference between being right and being wrong. There is also quite the difference between telling the truth and lieing. The job of the PR is to be right and tell the truth. Packaging is secondary in this discussion.

Since when do the "majority of big time investors" care about when "MPOE-PR called it out"?

Since about a few quarters ago. Why, were you entertaining delusions of grandeur?

I can only imagine the pain felt by those with pre-orders to see the man who runs this company act in such a way on the CES floor convention floor

They are actually celebrating his "triumph".

Always remember: Bitcoin is a religion, not a currency.

The advantage of this is, to quite Buffett again,

Quote
(We are enormously indebted to those academics: what could be more advantageous in an intellectual contest - whether it be bridge, chess, or stock selection - than to have opponents who have been taught that thinking is a waste of energy?)

Boonies above is a fine case study in this: he used to matter, a coupla years ago. Meanwhile he was in GLBSE, he was in this, he was in that (don't worry boonies, I won't actually disclose your investment history, I'm nice where it matters) and he's by now whittled himself into insignificance. Apparently he hasn't learned anything whatsoever from this, for instance about the relative values of being nice versus being truthful.

Give it another six months or so for the "whales" in their own minds invested in the various ASICs scams to be wiped and we'll finally have rational BTC. Everything starts as a religion.

Given how humble I am regarding my 'investment history' i am certainly not suffering from delusions of grandeur. Though I am quite thankful that I was only in possession of a few bonds in GLBSE at the time of it shutting down.

Nor do I think that the "majority of big time investors" care what I think, especially since I believe that they steer clear of these forums. So maybe that is who you are talking about, outsiders with deep pockets.

If you think that the function of PR is to be right and to tell the truth (about whatever the PR chooses), that certainly would explain your behavior.

I think the 10 BTC will be divided over all outstanding shares.
If he owns (outstanding) shares himself then yes he gets a cut.

I'd like to know whether or not any of his shares will be going on the exchange (in his account or an issuer account) when/if the transition is made.

Early in the voting and it does NOT capture the comments in the thread but staying private is in the lead...

Well... it WAS in the lead. Tongue

Well, at this point, 15-4 (relist versus private).  Private not looking so hot  Sad

Hey, since you're a shareholder wouldn't you be getting a cut of the 10 btc?

Everytime you come on here you make your company look bad because of your attitude.   I'm surprised your boss hasn't fired you for talking to people the way you do but I guess that must be a qualification to work at bfl.

And MPOE-PR isn't making MPOE/MPEX look bad???

Can you please provide your credentials?

Looky, I take it you're new here so let me explain in a few words how BTC finance works. There's the scammer tag which prevents a minority of small time investors from giving the scammer any credence, and then there's the "MPOE-PR called it out", which isn't a tag per se but which nevertheless prevents a majority of big time investors from ever considering you. That is all.

Since when do the "majority of big time investors" care about when "MPOE-PR called it out"?

Ok... you do know that I asked for proof right?  What you've provided is you restating the same statements you've already made.  Proof requires an outside authority qualified to speak on the matter.

Your logical fallacy is: Appeal to Authority.

Knowledge =/= Proof

Indeed. Proof is for mathematics and alcohol. Reasoning deals with evidence.

Evidence of an occurrence is not the same as knowledge of said occurrence.

Quote from: David Deutsch
The misconception that knowledge needs authority to be genuine or reliable dates back to antiquity, and it still prevails. To this day, most courses in the philosophy of knowledge teach that knowledge is some form of justified, true belief, where ‘justified’ means designated as true (orat least ‘probable’) by reference to some authoritative source or touchstone of knowledge. Thus ‘how do we know … ?’ is transformed into ‘by what authority do we claim … ?’ The latter question is a chimera that may well have wasted more philosophers’ time and effort than any other idea. It converts the quest for truth into a quest for certainty (a feeling) or for endorsement (a social status). This misconception is called justificationism.

Wow Josh, for someone who is supposed to be a BFL representative you sure fail at representing your company in a professional manner. You make BFL a joke each time you post with cussing and insults. Are you a child?

LOL so entertaining though to see you come here and STOMP your feet in rebuttal.

In BTC, I'm the authority.

And MPOE-PR is any better?
253  Bitcoin / Hardware / [Archive] BFL trolling museum on: January 12, 2013, 08:44:25 PM
@ MPOE-PR, sense BFL's CEO's parole/probation officer knows about his activities from multiple sources, how come his parole officer hasn't violated his parole and sent him back to jail? Could it be because there is no violation of parole? MPOE-PR simple logic doesn't seam to be your strong suit, right?

Err... You quite sure about that? Was anyone ever in touch?

Three quick questions:
2: What is the contact information of his parole probation officer?
2: You have got to be joking, right?

From what I can tell, the probation period is over. (September, 15 2010 + 26 months = November 2012.)

Sonny is now a free man who has repaid his debts to society.

While being in clear violation of his SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR PROBATION AND SUPERVISED RELEASE for most of the 26 month duration of that supervised release.
It's only a violation if he didn't contact his probation officer about this, and no one has proven that he hasn't contacted his probation officer about this.

Enough digging and enough money could probably get that dug up. If not, just getting the identity of the probation officer would allow someone to drop him/her a line.

Relisting on bitfunder or buying back at a reasonable price are both OK with me.

Same either is good for me. It really depends on if you want to work out a price now, or let a market for the shares form on bitfunder first.

Will be interesting to see how the loans go after the recent jump from $13.80 to $14.3. IS there a list of loans with outstanding balances, repayment history, delinqneucy info, etc anywhere that's conveniently available?
"Bitcoin.  Harder to repay, every day."

This might also make people try to pay off loans faster. I have a loan with a year term that I am certainly not interested in waiting a year to pay it off.

I'll be hoping to hear what the price per share is with the buyback, if that can be disclosed. Thank you for communicating with us... It means a lot.

Whatever happened to distrusting the list Nefario supplies? I didn't know people were bickering with each other over names/emails on said lists. Though, I'm guessing Diablo was covering his ass in the case that you claimed to not receive shares from him.
259  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] YABMC is Closed! on: January 09, 2013, 03:14:10 AM
A few more test payments were confirmed - up to 22,581.

On the "wound down" post a few back, I believe that there will be some people protesting that I am scamming if even $5/month (across all MY shares = 20,131) is not paid out (which at today's prices would imply a difficulty of almost 1 billion -- a 300x growth from today).  This may never happen so my thoughts are leaning a bit more towards re-listing with BitFunder -- namely so there is a market to trade and buyback shares (on the market or forced at contract premium of 105%).

i think this would be the best way about things

i have several past glbse listings that have moved onto other exchanges and so far those are all going smoothly

Since you seem to be otherwise unwilling or unable to perform a buyback at at any amount. I don't see this going smoothly if you don't relist.

2) BFL hasn't received any FPGA Singles to count towards the ASICs. I myself have an upgrade from a Single to a SC Single, but I'm still hashing away on the FPGA Single until the actual hardware is released.

I know it's been mentioned recently that people are going to need to send BFL an amount equivalent to the value of their FPGA if the want their ASIC shipped before they return their existing hardware, but I'm curious about whether buyers assumed from the outset that this is how upgrades would work.

I didn't even know that I could send them an equivalent amount.  This must have been some option that came up recently. I just assumed that when my order was ready I 'd have to send in my FPGA.
