Hey thanks GarbageName. I'm almost too fossilised to try xubuntu, and this is just a one-off gpu in my windoze home pc. even messing with cgminer stretches my tiny mind, but I'll give 3.3.4 a try first...
As for the pool, idk I'm sorry, seems ok for the last 3 hours. So many stratum probs last few days

Other / Alternate cryptocurrencies / rubbish new gpu, rubbish old wetware, broke the software on: December 21, 2013, 09:11:49 AM xfx r7970 - fx - 797A - TDFC
hashing now on Bitminter client ~ 510 M/hs
was hashing yesterday on cgminer scrypt ~ 400 k/hs
worked out all the memclock etc tunings then lost them, never mind, was approx 22400, 1125, 1750 didnt touch voltages yet
until i started messing with - g arguments in cgminer 3.5.0 .bat file
computer froze, cgminer never worked again
uninstalled and reinstalled all drivers, ccc, sdk etc. thoroughly
tried different versions of cgminer pre 3.5.0
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum01.hashco.ws:8888 -u x.1 -p x -o stratum+tcp://eu.middlecoin.com:3333 -u x -p x -I 13 -w 256 -- auto-fan
yesterday this .bat with or without threads=8192 got me ~ 300 k/Hs before i started tuning for memclock, otherthing and threads. today cgminer disappears
please help: did i buy a bad model anyway of the 7970?
can I get it mining scrypt once more?
how can I be so dense? Huh Grin

bumping, and moved here. any ideas please?
Sounds like it's stuck on that number of threads. Try launching with -g 1 or -g 2 Whichever one you used when it was freezing...use the other one now yeah that's what broke it, -g 2. have since tried g1 and g0, but no avail. thanks for replying

hey chillax, you perfectionist you, jk, look 720 is great, better use your time to research better pools, read this entire forum etc
|
|
|
on the money side - doge is so last week. and you cant estimate anything from pool promises, history, other miners' claims or just 12 hours minig on some pool. earnings relate to difficulty, network hasrate versus your own, pool and own uptime
|
|
|
dont open windows. dont worry about card heat, make it go higher bit by bit, read wu as baselines for hashrate after 1, 2 and 3 hours, then decide after 6 hours if 'goes down', dont close cgminer.

Short and clear, No!
Even if you have some money to spend, no cloud mining is worth biying!
This. you want group buys. and don't muck about with cexio or altcoins both too risky, they could collapse tomorrow. earn yourself a few hundredths of coins with your gpu, use pooler-miner with your cpu threads, point them both at hashco.ws or middlecoin. meanwhile sell your nvidia to a gamer and get a ati. give up games altogether, read this whole forum and everything else besides and sell that whole pc claiming she mines bitcoin very well, and build a scrypt mining rig. right now as an example you need BTC.2, may take some time to save up, to buy into a group buy, where you own a share of a big miner like the x-3 , for 40 ghs starting ~end Feb, see dzmc in my sig, you want round 17. r17 closing very soon, though, if you don't have .2 right now dz always comes up with something. have to say sorry dz his other open rounds right now not worth it. other group buys exist, almost all take btc, some are very scammy. or buy into kncminingop in my sig, they'll take even less than .2 (not sure why i settled on that figure, forgive me if i make assumptions). Their current gb is for a neptune but they might vote to change to x-3 as it comes sooner. neither of these will run off with your btc, but neither can promise to make more if you invest don't worry if you got shit all btc, don't compare self to big boys here. watch video in my sig. treat every 1btc like it's worth $45,000 to half mil in 5 to ten tears you have no credit card i guess, good dont bother, if you have a bank account or cash ever, use localbitcoins to buy bits of btc for cash or bank transfer. research it and your chosen merchant for a long time first

As I understand it, no. Bobsag3 will get our miners on the original ship date in Feb (as things still stand). The March date is for people who buy from now off the blackarrow site, kind of a batch 1 shipment 2 date. Please will someone confirm/deny?

You just had to be rude, didn't you, young man. Bet you reverse engineered this Think of a naughty word then think of a way of sending a frankly tiny little sum well it's not fuuny it's not clever and it's disrespectful. think if you win the pot you should donate entirity to bfl victims. who wants to see that in the morning ffs. bitcoin going through convulsive growing pains and all you can do is snigger at the back. spend some of your coin you tight oh i give up
