1201  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alphabet soup of different pool strategies - is there a better comparison?? on: January 14, 2014, 11:30:30 AM
I currently have several miners running totaling about 416 Gh/s.  I am splitting my mining among 50btc.com, slush's pool, and eligius for now.  However, it is hard to compare even among these three pools because different miners mine at different rates (so I have 240 Gh/s Butterfly Labs miners on eligius, 106 Gh/s on slush's pool consisting of 1/2 of a KnC miner and a 38Gh/s ASIC cube, and the remaining 76 Gh/s consisting of the other half of my KnC miner on 50btc).  To make matters a little worse, it seems some miners do better on some pools - e.g, my KnC miner did about 25% less on Slush's pool even with the updated port specially for KnC miners.

I have read the wiki on different payment mechanisms, and there are tons of posts about whose pool is best.  I have not found a more scientific comparison among the various pools.  Does one exist?  Ideally, someone who could run identical equipment on a variety of pools at the same time for an extended period.  The payout comparisons are interesting, but hard to figure how the different payment mechanisms work in the real world.

Also, is there any disadvantage to dividing up my processing power among the several pools as I have done?

Thanks!

thought there were big probs with 50btc, dunno, not my field. check it?

splitting power amongst pools is very good to avoid variance

tigers at 5ths is more fanciful than the unicornhasher. the effrontery to promise sth next week. xtreme should be lynched. unless the 0,00001% chance ... imagine all the gloating newbs/younsters/shills with serious firepower next effing week

amt will 80/20 deliver sth like that much too late to make profit. suggest u sell on ebay to recoup some losses

thanks for sharing, very brave

When does this ship and when is it expected to by turned on ?

Hey UNOE,

This is scheduled for a Mid January delivery:

https://bitmine.ch/?product=coincraft-rig-mid-january-batch

We're paying extra for Express Shipping, as time is always of the essence when it comes to Bitcoin mining.

===

That reminds me: If any co-op members have cheap hosting available in Europe...you could make extra BTC as well as help make the co-op make extra BTC - due to faster hashing startup time thanks to shorter shipping distances from Switzerland. Also: please send me a PM if you're interested in Intl. hosting elsewhere.

You would have to go through my vetting process, while it's free I believe that it's the most stringent on the forum, as I have the benefit of over 10 years in Info Security. If you're willing to be a DZ MC miner host somewhere international, it would allow you to not only save on hosting/management fees on your own DZ MC shares but could be a lucrative side business for the right person or person(s). As a pro network engineer, I will assist you for free in assessing and improving your miner hosting conditions in order to be considered a viable vetted miner host.

Please send me a PM if you're serious and interested, as I wouldn't mind expanding our co-op hosting facilities to South America, the EU, Africa, Asia, and Australia.

Cheers!

There are some swiss and german hosters popping up toward the end of the coincraft thread.

...reading through which thread i guess we'd be lucky to be hashing by st val's day

All these DMZ group buys are highly confusing. Is there any current information on which ones are open for investment? Wading though post after post in every thread is a bit much.

with the payment processor down, i'd guess there's no way to buy anything just now this second. if you want a lot of shares (10?) in a particular round, you can usually bank wire to the great bobsag3, ofc ask him first. they're all madly busy.

if you go to their website, the products marked 'add to cart' were possibly not sold out a week ago, while those marked 'moreinfo' were sold out finito full up.

Is R18B open?  Have you resolved your payment processor issues?

M

I believe it's closed, despite what op says, and that payment processor still down

you might buy shares here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=386682.0

Yuk. will never be able to look at a pretty girl's thumb ever again.

I think the unicornminer looks nicer and altogether more ... accomodating than Uranus

If you are genuine and need the money, you could work something out, no?

I made my sig less eyecancerish.

meh. which month are they?

they are november batches.

less meh. the good things are you paid in fiat and you proved there is an honest seller on craigslist

diff doubles in a month so hardware halves, but thats just in theory, 1340 Gh/s will still seem a lot to ebayers etc

there are lots of calculators out there

1215  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Aliexpress - Deal or no Deal? on: January 13, 2014, 06:30:37 PM
thanks eveyone for the input.

I heard that the guy in the op has been removed from aliexpress for improper trading

What I will say is that I've bought over 50 items (boards, circuits, sensors, etc.) from aliexpress in the last year and the items have always arrived here (eventually...shipping is slow as hell) and the items all worked.

Having said that, I've bought over 50 items...and never spent more than $15 on a single item.  Do I trust them for cheap sensors, breakouts and boards?  Yes.  Would I buy a Miner from them?  Not a chance in hell.

I think this is how I would roll now with aliexpress, it's a bit safe, but I'm mean anyway.

Let's just hope sushi comes back from China with something hot.

Nice!
But i don't need the miner. I just want to have the shirt and 49BTC seems very fair! You know what? I'll get one for my mom, too!
Excellent decision to purchase! I've updated the order list with your orders.

Avenger Industries - we'll sell Uranus to anyone!
Have you anything slower? That is too fast, maybe pluton?
We are thinking of doing a USB version - the USB Uranus. The slogan is difficult, the latest one was turned down by marketing for some reason?

The USB Uranus - stick it - up your hash!

Seems okay to me?

I wanna thumb Uranus
