1381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why we need ALT coins?? on: December 14, 2013, 08:45:21 AM
- For experiments with new features (e.g. PoS in PPC, NMC DNS system, Datacoin storage).
- To improve liquidity of cryptocurrencies.
- To experiment with new hash algorithms and security concepts (Tenebrix, Primecoin...).
- To expermient with new economic paradigms (e.g. demurrage in FRC, ultra-high PoS-minting rates like NVC, automatic stability mechanism in eMunie, constant low inflation in PPC ...).
- To detect security risks (see the 51%-attacks performed on some altcoins)
- As a hedge against Bitcoin volatility
- Monopolies are never good
- To make some altcoin early adopters rich

And finally:

- So Bitcoin early adopters don't become too rich Grin

A hedge against bitcoin volatility isn't possible because alt coin's prices are pretty much pegged with bitcoin. Although i agree that they can act as a live simulation for various concerns.
You may want to add to your list the experiment about what happens when all the coins are mined. Some alt coins are almost mined completely already.

Now we're getting somewhere. Thanks guys
1382  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Curious mining contracts offer? on: December 14, 2013, 08:21:48 AM
Thanks very much. Now I've got more "questions, comments, concerns, praise, or even criticism", but would love to hear more from the community.
1383  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Curious mining contracts offer? on: December 14, 2013, 07:17:05 AM

Any one have questions, comments, concerns, praise, or even criticism?

Me, I have all the above. Please could you rephrase everything so an ancient dimwitted foreigner might understand
how this model compares to reinvesting groupbuys, mining farm shares and other models
how I might make a bob or two
how you ditto
1384  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Round 15/16 KnC Jupiter, DZ MC. Please move comments and ?s to this thread. Thx. on: December 14, 2013, 06:24:48 AM
I'd want to start scraping some btc back from this round, but you're right, transaction fees will be a waste.

There are other great groupbuyers out there who set out from the getgo to reinvest part of the mined btc into new equipment.

Maybe dz could ask us to vote about that kind of model for r17

But I agree: 1. bobsag3 is heroic for letting us use his miner (how do we pay him back?)

2. Bitmain S1 was proven and worth having 2 weeks ago, but not now (so we should watch them for price drops (as if))

I also think dzmc would be a tiny bit stretched just at this minute to introduce new makes of hardware.

1386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: December 13, 2013, 09:26:21 AM
I heard about this recently and decided to give it a try. The profitability charts looked really nice, for example. Anyway, here's my 24-hour review of Hash Cows vs. Litecoin. I'm going to keep it going for another day, but so far things aren't looking all that good compared to other mining options.

We had a bad day that day down on the farm. Do a longer test pl
1387  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Looking for a share in a group buy for bitcoin on: December 12, 2013, 05:37:14 PM
If you buy enough shares from dzminercoop, they'll take bank wire or something for x-3. they're the only gb
Neptunes 1st batch, the gbs that are left now aren't reputable enough for my liking. In general, kncminingop, takes fiat for gbs.

Are we interested in calling out the scammy cloud asic mining companies?

- One more thing: instead of closed cases, we may use open cases that can fit 2 mobos and up to 8 GPUs, if there's enough stock available.

Yeh do a knc, up the spec at the last minute.

xstr8guy so sorry for my part in taking this important topic ot

reading between the lines we're getting somewhere
1391  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Scam List on: December 11, 2013, 09:16:35 PM
YourPalToots stfu you ignorant pompous little shit. You obviously know nothing of this forum's centrality to the bitcoin project.
1392  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Scam List on: December 11, 2013, 08:35:32 PM
It's deffo rule one. Some of the worst scammers never go on here just hoping for a complete newb to send btc to their sites.

How about: replies to emails and pms within 12 hours, unless they clearly state length of backlog.

other suggestions: Introduces the team, their qualifications, background...
Company history openly (oh dear subjective) discussed

shutting up now
1393  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Scam List on: December 11, 2013, 08:14:57 PM
I think I have Rule #1...
No official announcement thread on Bitcointalk.

If you're a legitimate ASIC developer you would post here first to announce your project.

Duh why didn I think of that yes of course. We are devising here guidelines to set up the perfect scam in a few months time, joke
afk

Coming out of nowhere / no one here has heard of
Will not supply videos / specs
Unlikely claims re price per hash or power per hash
Strange or no people on team
Just in time registering of website

some random pointers, sure there are more
I've called techtime 'looks scammy' as they sell a Monarch shipping in a month ffs

Still seems subjective.

"coming out of nowhere" - where should they come from?

Unlikely claims seems easier to rate. There is only so many hashes from a chip right? Where is the line of unlikely?

"will not supply videos or specs" - That should be easy although I've seen companies post pics which were not good enough for the crowd here. What should be included in the pics to allow them to pass the scrutiny here?

"Strange people" - What the hell does that mean?

"Just in time registering" - How long should a web address be registered for a business before it is deemed trustworthy? How long should a new business wait to sell their products?

I would also like to add - Response time to emails

Hey mr amt shill, chill
It's late, I wanted to get the ball rolling. Feel free to gloss over any of my suggestions that were crap, and to answer some of your own questions with a suggestion or two.
Will not be possible to be subjective, it's a feeling thing, I guess you have those. Maybe rules we can't do already

Some of the multipools milk the most profitable altcoins and convert to btc for you. I make more than I would mining ltc. Just saying

Top end gpus are in short supply, so people like Sy say the diff won't go up too madly, like 4000 by Jan, and we'd still as y'all said have the rigs to sell once we'd mined a few 'ltc'.

I'm in two minds now

I think I've added everything.  SHWEW!

Advanced Mining Technologies (AMT)... what does everyone think?

Let me know if you see any errors.

agree they behave questionably, amt; they're part of virtualminingcorp, again no lonk so sorry, a member was ranting about them

thanks for the hard work
