THIS IS SCAM STOP POSTING, no proof anyone won anything as pointed out above.
There are only for posts that's the winning ones, and there are 1000 possible numbers. So it's no surprise that no one has won so far…
(Let's hope this post isn't one of the numbers)

Is coinbase really insecure? I use authenticate for iPhone and have a good pass but was wondering if I should keep coins on there
You should avoid online wallets where you are not the only one in control of the private keys. You better go for a lightweight client!

Since bitcoin is not backed by any government it's not a currency!

124  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can Kids Be Raised in a Gender-neutral Society? on: May 01, 2014, 03:45:30 PM
I don't want my children to grow and be raised in a neutral gender society or a society that promotes homosexual marriage in the educational system and stuff, I'm willing will do in fact, when the time comes to teach my children about tolerance and respecting others whatever the choices are and what they want to be as I do, but I don't want them to be pre-formated by such messages, once they are adults, they can do whatever they want then
I don't see that it is a problem that schools promote tolerance? Quite the opposite actually, it's just good!

126  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best book you ever had? on: May 01, 2014, 08:28:02 AM
I read Lord of the Flies but couldn't find it as amazing as people say.It even won Noble Prize.I don't know why.
I totally agree with you. It's well over-rated IMHO. I mean, it's not bad, but it's not like "Wow, this is one of the best books ever!"
But I guess the reason to its popularity is the psychological thing with how fast people can change when condition changes. And an analysis of society, where the most powerful wins, and the weaker becomes slaves in exchange for food.

Someone maybe has generated the same private keys as you? It's extremely unlikely, but not impossible!

When people jump first to "duplicate private key" it makes me wonder if they jump to the least probable explanation in other scenarios as well.

Say you came home from work early, open the door to your house, and saw your wife having sex with the neighbor.

Now there are two (well probably more but let keep it simple) possibilities:
a) Your wife really is cheating on you, with your neighbor.  The proof is irrefutable and visibly obvious in front of you.
OR
b) On your way home from work, unbeknownst to you, you were transported into a parallel dimension.  This dimension for the most part is undetectably similar to "your" dimension, except in this world, you never married your wife.  Due to that fact she actually married the man whom you know as your neighbor.  So in reality the man and women who are having sex, are married, don't even know you, and this is their home.  If they haven't seen you yet you should probably leave before you are arrested for breaking and entering.

I have to wonder when faced with that scenario, if the first words from the "duplicate private key" people would be "Hey are you my wife? I just need to rule out the possibility that I accidentally traveled between dimensions before I get really pissed."
I actually presented the more likely scenario in the line under if you didn't see it.
I see your point with the parallel universe thing though.

Thread resurrection.

What do you guys think about the current policies about governments not claiming territory on celestial bodies?
That only applies to earth based governments that has signed that treaty I think? Anyway, what would they do if someone actually colonized and claimed Mars? I think that they would not do anything.
129  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info Wallet - Unauthroized Transaction on: April 30, 2014, 10:16:20 PM
The same private key? That seems awfully unlikely, but never thought of that yet. Thanks for the links shorena too, those occurred yesterday and today. I'll just switch from using an online wallet to a desktop one, however I cannot decide between Bitcoin-qt, Electrum, Multibit, and Amory.
I personally recommend MultiBit. Lightweight, and really east to use and create new wallets and such stuff! Smiley

Otherwise someone has probably gained access to your private keys in some other way, maybe through infecting your computer with malware.

Thats like finding a buckyball in the earth. Wink *

But these blockchain incidents seem to happen a lot lately.

Hmm, maybe blockchain.info is compromised? That would explain the recent hacks. However, they seem a bit random to actually be a full scale hack against them. Maybe a malware attack target against bitcoin users would be more realistic?

PS3, the Assassins Creed series (except for the first one) were awesome. Especially Assassins Creed: Black Flag! Actually, that's why my nickname here is blacksails, because when I created my account I had just finished/were finishing it! Truly wonderful games. I think the Assassins would really like Bitcoins as well. Templars would probably hate it though.
133  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Song are you Listening To? on: April 30, 2014, 08:52:48 PM
Lastkaj 14 - Kapten Gråskäggs Avskedsvederlag
http://open.spotify.com/track/3f1vVdubyu2MWXIeZtEDeF

One of my favorite punk bands released a new album yesterday. This is the absolutely best song on it. It's about a debt ridden old man, that one day decides to buy a boat, sail to the city of Visby, rob a bank and get rich. Then he ends up rich on a yacht in the Caribbean. Sounds like an awesome.
I don't know, but there is something special with mixing accordion with punk music… It gets magical! Tongue
The song makes me wanna rob a bank though. But there are probably better ways to get rich I guess... Roll Eyes
134  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can Kids Be Raised in a Gender-neutral Society? on: April 30, 2014, 08:42:43 PM
yeah thats what i think. men are men and women are women theres no reason why anyone should try to make us equal physicly. mentally women and men can be equal but never physicaly.
Don't say that in sweden, then you will be considered to hate women and be called a "white offended man". In Sweden things such as science is absolutely made up by the patriarchy when it comes to biological differences between men and women.

Things such as this is the result of a post-feminist society. Sweden is one of the most gender equal countries in the world, there are actually no legal differences in Sweden that could be negative to women (but there are a few that is against men). Some things are still not 100% equal, but we'll get there soon enough when the older people with power dies. Which is good!

Things as this gender equal society is completely bullshit though. "There are no differences between boys and girls, so why not force them to be a hybrid 'hen' (he is 'han' and she is 'hon' in swedish, therefore 'hen', which is also used in the finnish language)?"
-Well, to be honest, there are big differences in interests and such thanks to differences in hormones, boys prefer logical stuff like cars and building with lego and girls prefer social relations stuff like for example dolls (extremely generally speaking, it's very individual according to how much testosterone you have been subjected to as a fetus).

I hate this feminazism that's currently spreading through Sweden… Everything in the debate is so misguided currently, because in some way everything is to blame on all men. Many of the leading feminists over here doesn't really even blame the patriarchy anymore, they just attack men. "We should impose a tax on being male, to fund help centers to female victims of crime" (That was actually a suggestion by one of the leading feminist politicians, Gudrun Schyman!). If they get in power over here I'll just leave the country before I get arrested for just being male.

But to answer your question, no, it will not turn out well. We'll have a generation of genderless people, sounds like a bright future. But there are some gender-neutral daycare centers over here. I feel it's really mean to the children.
135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what should I do with 0.20247 bitcoins? on: April 30, 2014, 08:10:20 PM
hello, I am a total beginner. I have in my wallet 0.20247 bitcoins. My question is what should I do with them these days (excluding from saving it for years)?
Should I buy other digital currencies?
Should I invest in funds? if so which ones?
Should I donate?
Should I play with it in a stock market?
Any suggestion or comment would be appreciated.

thanks.

Add few more coins to your balance and i will make a new coin for you !!!
How do you mean you will make a new coin for him/her? A new alt-coin or create a Bitcoin out of thin air (which is not possible anyway)?

The same way you prove you dropped $1000 out of your pocket when you claim that as a loss on your taxes.

cant tell if trolling or serious... Undecided Undecided
No, he's serious.
_______________

You have to be able to prove that you have really lost the money, and don't have a backup anywhere or something like that. And honestly, I think that's impossible.

I was reading this "The 4-Hour Workweek and Timothy Ferriss".
It's a good book, you should check it out.  Smiley
I've read it. It's quite good actually, and it has some very good stuff I'll definitely think of if I start my own business some time!
138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: First Timer on: April 30, 2014, 04:07:46 PM
Now i have a wallet

Can somebody guide me what to do next

The next step is to get some bitcoins.

The easiest way is to buy them. Preferably at a exchange or via localbitcoins. It takes more time to transfer money to an exchange, however, you'll get more bitcoins for your money there.

Another way is to earn them. There are always some bounties for stuff that has to be done in the Service sub-forum. Or you could get some micro-bitcoins from faucets. That won't earn you much though!
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BCN] Logo contest. Huge reward! on: April 30, 2014, 03:52:45 PM
Can I make multiple designs, or is it one per person?

You can make an unlimited number of logo Smiley
Awesome! If I have some spare time the next few days I'll maybe do another one! Smiley

Then you'd have to prove you owned the bitcoins in the first place, wouldn't you?
