963  Economy / Economics / Re: To people who made, lost or missed the opportunity to make a lot of money on: November 24, 2013, 01:23:31 PM
To those of you who think money isn't everything - sadly it is like 99% of it. With money you can get incredible healthcare, buy organs, have less worries about the future, help your friends and family. I've seen numerous people stuck in a shitty situation with a shitty job they can't quit because they have a sick kid, or a guy dying in gospital because the doctors don't care if you dont have money. In my shitty part of the world a woman giving birth can't get painkillers or a single hospital room if she doesn't pay for it. FU poverty!
It's a difference between forced poverty and chosen poverty. Everyone should have the same possibilities in life no matter where you were born, and from there decide where to go in life. To bad that's not how the world is! Sad
964  Economy / Economics / Re: To people who made, lost or missed the opportunity to make a lot of money on: November 24, 2013, 01:14:51 PM
Money sets you free. It allows you to spend your time how you wish to spend it. Nothing is more valuable than that.
Yeah, but you could also spend your time however you want without money. It's just a state of mind.
965  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mac wallet for Peercoin? on: November 24, 2013, 12:47:57 PM
First off, I am not one of the Peercoin devs, but I am a big fan of the coin and the dev team. I saw a post recently about adding a Mac client but I do not think this has occurred yet (I too do most of my recreational computing on a Mac). Maxpower is the handle of a community member here who has created many Mac clients where necessary - if you want a more immediate solution, send him a PM and I am sure he would be happy to assist (just throw him some coin as a donation for his effort). Regarding the checkpoint warning, this will show until the whole block chain downloads. Just make sure you have the most recent version and if the block chain downloading seems to get stuck, close the client and then reopen it - this helped me when my download seemed to slow or get stuck. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the advices!
I don't have much in any cryptocoins at the moment, so it would not feel right to ask him for help and not donate Sad
I reopened the client multiple times after like 30 minutes sessions where it didn't download, so probably it's something in the code that wine can't understand.
I guess I have to wait for the official client then Sad
Thanks anyway! Smiley
966  Economy / Economics / Re: To people who made, lost or missed the opportunity to make a lot of money on: November 24, 2013, 12:40:52 PM
i'm not really interested in being a big millionaire/billionaire.. i just want enough money to not have to worry about money. money does not create happiness, but it does midwife it.

My only interest in currency/money/whatever is to have enough to travel the world. I agree though it is not everything.

Some things that top wealth...
Youth
Love
Spirituality
Art
Health

that's what i'd like to do as well. i'd like to be able to travel, without worries, for 6-12 months and return home with some sort of money to keep myself afloat. i'm pretty far from that point right now tho  Sad

i'd probably spend 3-4 months meditating, and the other 8ish months seeing new things.
You can travel really cheaply you know? Couchsurf, hitch-hike and eat street food/cook your own food! It doesn't have to be expensive to travel!

I agree with OP. We all can be happy without money. Money is actually a great risk if you want to be happy, because if you have lots of money you get distrustful and therefore you miss out on a lot of things. So no, money is not everything!
I really recommend reading Dalai Lamas book "The Art of Happiness". You'll never look at the world in the same way again after reading it! Smiley
967  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: best OS for bitcoin mining? on: November 24, 2013, 12:33:35 PM
Yeah, some linux distro. The less system resources it takes, the better! But you're a bit late for bitcoin mining. Why not try some alt-coin?

why i am too late for bcoin mining?
according to calculations with 50ghz i should make 1 btc/month
Yeah, but the difficult almost doubles every month. And first you have to buy expensive mining tools, wait for them to arrive, and by that time the difficult has increased so much you can't possibly break even. And even if you have it now you still have to pay electricity.
Sure, you might break even, and maybe even make some profit, but that won't be much. But if you decide to mine it's good for the network though.

so the alt coins what they are?
Alternative coins. If you want to use an ASIC you have to stick to the sha-256 coins for example TerraCoin (same algorithm as Bitcoin).
Then you have script coins, with Litecoin as the biggest and feather coin and such things. You can't mine these with ASIC miners, so you have to use GPU. Your best shot is to find some scrypt-coin with low difficult and mine these. It's still risky though.

1.Yeah but what if I rent 3 dedicated servers, 16ghz each and I would pay for all 3 servers like 130e per month and I dont have to pay any other things like electricity or any other. Would that be possible?
If it costs 130€ for all three it probably is! Just watch out for big difficult raises! Smiley
1.can you recommend good mining software?
2.and by the way how do i set gpu via dedicated server?
Sorry, I don't really know the technical parts Sad

969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Mac wallet for Peercoin? on: November 24, 2013, 12:11:33 PM
Why is there no mac wallet for peer coin? Would be good since the windows version in wine/crossover tells me "WARNING: Checkpoint is to old. Wait for block chain to download, or notify the developers on this issue." It has one connection to the network and that "downloading symbol" is rotating, but it does not download any blocks.
Anyone from the peercoin devs around that can help me? Smiley

978  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: IS mining actually worth spending LOTS of money, or is it too good to be true? on: November 23, 2013, 10:06:07 PM
You might break even, but you won't make any big profits. It's better to just buy a few coins.
Unless you want to help the network but make less profit!
