221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEM scammer on attack. Protect your NEM! on: September 14, 2014, 03:58:27 PM
Lesson here is, verify the sender, and verify the url. You'd have to be pretty lazy to fall for this.
Actually it's quite easy to mistake t for l in url like this one.

They look similar, but if you verify the sender and the url, you'll never be caught out by phishing scams. Alarm bells should ring when you open a link and it asks you to log in when you're already logged in.
222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTF with DOGE! on: September 14, 2014, 03:56:30 PM
Something I just can't understand. The announcement of merged mining DOGE with LTC makes people lose their mind and buy DOGE?

I dont mind, I have some bought at 29 Cheesy. But what the hell, merged mining only makes DOGE less valuable, but the exact opposite is happening.

Maybe there are other indicators I'm not seeing?

Yeah, an obvious pump.

Bombard the site with fake username and passwords.
224  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: digitalindustry aka kolin evans busted on planning a scam on: September 14, 2014, 02:10:57 PM
Let's not pretend this isn't happening with almost every other new shitcoin that gets branded "the next big thing". Just a bunch of worthless penny stocks pumped by dumpers itching to make another wave of newbies bagholders.
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: jl777 asset scammer EXPOSED on: September 14, 2014, 02:08:28 PM
Burn in hell with all ur moronic threads

~CfA~

You're just a NXT-shill, I don't even take you serious. All you really are is a piece of shit supporting the NXT AE scams pull-off promoted by jl777.

Pot kettle black.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We have seen Dogecoin before... It's name is Yahoo on: September 14, 2014, 02:07:23 PM
Doge has an active following. That's what's keeping it afloat. It has nothing to do with the features. In fact, merge mining and a constantly inflating cap were both bad decisions, and dog is hanging on despite of them.

228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitUSD is in circulation! on: September 14, 2014, 11:17:05 AM
Perhaps this meme will explain it:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if BitUSD's purpose is to maintain a close value to the dollar, that's not going to happen.
229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PMP] PreminePlus Launch ~ Logo Contest ~ Oct giveaway SIGNUP NOW! on: September 11, 2014, 05:59:54 PM

Just a suggestion, but you can put "Earn free PMP" or something along those lines in the title. It won't break the rules. Hopefully it will attract a few new participants.
Done. You may bump that new topic, from time to time.

Sure. The more visible the better.

231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero a proper alt coin ? or political propaganda scam fraud ? on: September 11, 2014, 04:46:36 PM
Come-from-Above never fails to deliver the butthurt.

I don't know enough about Monero to have an objective opinion. Although I have noticed that it's defended quite aggressively.

Prepare for the Scrypt Coin fisting. Brace yourselves.

All right, Ladies and Gentlemen, our Proof-of-Action goes live now at: http://goo.gl/bvxL9M
You can get up to 100 PMP, meaning more than a monthly giveaway, for completing some easy tasks on Twitter, FB, this forum and our coin forum.
Task are easy, there is a lot of coins to get, and we are looking forward to your participation.
We will run this campaign for 14 days.

Please check also our official Twitter profile for more details of this promo and other news.

We should have a thread on this in the main Alternate cryptocurrencies section, too.
Nullu, I refrained from doing that, mainly because having a giveaway thread is not allowed:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434310.0

At most we could link it in the OP, but otherwise I would keep it, as it is now.
Advertising of the PoA is done by the retweets.

You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

Other similar threads have been posted before. Stellar did it quite recently. Provided it's off site, and not an incentive to post in the thread itself, it's fine.

235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency with the best distribution? on: September 10, 2014, 02:54:42 PM
I would say, provided initial distribution isn't massively skewed towards a small few holding the majority of the total supply, then any new currency should be reasonably fair, but over time it matters less. The problem with initial bad distributions is the market instability they cause, and for new coins, that's quite a problem.

PreminePlus has two methods of distribution. One is buying PMC and burning it for PMP. The second is signing up for the giveaway, which when signed up for, you continually receive funds from each month there's another giveaway.

Services actually decrease distribution, but they also serve a purpose to increase it. Gambling sites, on the other hand, I would argue cause a much higher decrease in distribution, as you wouldn't generally buy a currency just to gamble it.
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is this the end of Bitcoin & Altcoin dream ????, Apple introduced "Apple PAY" on: September 09, 2014, 08:09:13 PM
I was in japan and this is very common.  It has been common for the past 15 years I think

Same about South Korea, paying this way a lot when I'm there.

It's just another Paypal. In short; no.

PayPal is going to make Bitcoin popular ironically Cheesy

If you can't beat them, join them, eh?

238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: September 09, 2014, 11:40:36 AM
Can we all agree then, if no units ship at the end of the month, this is once and for all just vaporware?

Taking bets on what the next excuse will be that pushes the date forward.
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SuperNet, are you in? on: September 09, 2014, 10:18:34 AM
The simple truth of the matter is, whether I "believe" in the product or not, I'm likely to make a profit on selling my shares. I would only consider keeping them if substantial evidence came forward that there was a viable product. If not, I'll sell out when the time is right.

So if that makes me a "noob", then I'll be a noob with a slightly increasing BTC balance, as always. Know when to hold, and when to fold. We all know the game by now.
240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ★★ EBT Coin - Entropybit 100% PoS - Multipool - Bugfix version 4.0.3! ★★ on: September 08, 2014, 07:45:12 PM
EBT Dev hasn't been active for a week. Any sort of update would be appreciated. I can't even access my funds. I'm not sure if I should try rolling back my wallet or what.

maybe dev isn't as active because he is actually WORKING on fixing stuff?

a dev constantly hanging out on the thread can't be working. Ever thought about that?

Who said hanging out? A quick update, to those who can't even access their coins, would be all that would be required. A minute at least.
