1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone explain Tether? on: September 19, 2018, 06:36:10 PM
There is a lot of fear that unbacked usdt has been the driving force behind the recent crypto pump. If this turns out to be true this will be 100x worse than mt gox disaster for crypto. The fact that Tether nor Bitfinex has allowed their bank accounts to be examined by an independed source is extremely suspicious. The fact that newly minted usdt continues to be used to prop up the markets without any explanation as to where the usd is coming from is extremely suspicious. The fact there is no way for an individual, group of company to buy or sell usdt tokens using usd fiat is extremely suspicious.
I'm posting this hoping someone can show me some proof this is nothing to worry about. PROOF.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone explain Tether? on: September 19, 2018, 06:23:03 PM
Is any proof out there that exchanges have actually provided real usd to exchange for the usdt tokens? and where does this usd come from - exchanges offering usdt do not offer usd trading nor .deal directly with usd fiat from customers in any way. If the exchanges are selling crypto for usd some place outside of their own exchange then using that usd to attain usdt is there any proof of this? because if all we have is the theory that this is how it's supposed to work, that doesn't cut it.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone explain Tether? on: September 19, 2018, 06:01:33 PM
I understand the purpose and use of Tether, it is to allow traders to get into and out of crypto markets without cashing out directly to fiat. What doesn't make sense to me is if usdt is never been bought directly with usd then where does the usd come from to back up each usdt? and if usdt is never sold directly back to usd, why does it even matter whether Tether can cover existing usdt with usd in bank accounts? This is where my brain starts hurting because I just can't get my head wrapped around how this has worked over the last few years. It seems like it's way too easy for usdt created from nothing to have pumped the 2017 market and is keeping the markets from collapsing here in 2018. What am I missing that contradicts that this isn't what has happened?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Can someone explain Tether? on: September 19, 2018, 04:43:26 PM
So I went to the Tether website and there is no way to buy or sell USDT for or to USD. Rather, the only way I see to buy it is to go to an exchange like Binance and use bitcoin to buy usdt. The only way to sell usdt is to sell it back to bitcoin on an exchange. Tether does not deal with USD whatsoever, not directly nor through exchanges.
Is this correct? because if it is, where is the USD that are supposed to be backing all these usdt tokens coming from? and how are they able to print new usdt at will - where is the usd coming from to support these new usdt tokens? Apparently there isn't even a way to create a wallet on Tether.io much less be able to buy or sell them for usd. https://wallet.tether.to/app/#!/signup
I'm really confused by this, please explain.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll reveals 2% of American investors own Bitcoin on: August 01, 2018, 11:11:01 PM
2% of American investors - what does that mean - investors? I bet of the general population, more like .2% of US citizens actually own any bitcoin.

tzlibre has also a delegation service that you can delegate to. And instead of XTZ you will get ethereum tzlibre tokens  Grin Grin Grin Grin

imo best thing for tezos holders is to delegate to a delegate service with dynamic fees and just enjoy the new XTZ that will come to you. Tezos is cryptomining made simple  Wink

with the projection that has been made you can make a lot of money extra just for holding and delegating XTZ.

I mean if you have 10000 XTZ you make 6290$ per year at this price(2.32$) and a baking percentage of 17.29%

when the price of XTZ reaches 10$ this amount is 27000$ per year under the same conditions.
and if the price reaches 25$ this amount is 67000$ also under the same condition according to
https://hackernoon.com/how-much-income-does-tezos-pay-and-how-to-earn-baking-income-46743bb28e3b

and those price ranges for XTZ(10$ and 25$) are not so hard to achieve.

i mean isnt buying and delegating  XTZ a no brainer?

It actually seems like right now that is absolutely right. But more and more people will claim their XTZ and the % will drop. I don´t think more than 5% return on delegated staking will actually be realistic in the long run

For someone with a full roll of 10k xtz, 5.5% expected annual return is unrealistic because this is with 100% of the network baking. There are many who lost ico passwords or pdfs, and not everyone who can bake will. I don't know the highest the network will ever see, but I'd be surprised it if was over 80%.

So you think the annual return should be higher than the 5,5% return since a huge chunk of supply won´t bake ?

Of course it will be over 5.5%, because it's impossible for 100% of all xtz to be baking, so it's just a matter of how much higher than 5.5% you will get. This is assuming you have a full 10k and bake on your own, if you use a delegate you get what they decide to give you, which may very well end up being 5.5% or even less because they are in this for the profit.

Need some help....

to claim your coin on the TezBox you need:

- 15 words seed --> OK
- activation code --> OK
- email --> OK
- password --> NOT OK. shit I don't remember what for a password I used!   Angry Angry Angry

somebody rember if they gave us "password restriction" like uppercase, bigger as 8 char, or so?

Thank you in advance

soooo.

I found this site to check my password : https://www.tezos.com/pwcheck_full.html

According to this site I found my password but the PublicHash doesn’t correspond

--> Seed (PDF) + Mail (PDF) + Passwd (after some try...) = OK
--> Public key according to this site = tz1byiEFzXP3zVsfnXaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

--> Public key according to the PDF (and where my funds are) = tz1WDNTiHuzgxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I’m completely lost. Thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards

If you are getting a different public hash I think this means your password is still not correct.

The trading of XTZ on gate.io and hitbtc .com both are IOU or real coins?

you cant deposit or withdraw from hitbtc.just trade.

gate.io works everything. deposits, trade, withdrawal. all checked out. all working great.

It's not great at all if you are a US, Canadian or Japanese citizen. Tezos needs a better exchange.

I wonder how many tokens were lost due to lost passwords?

Gate.io doesn't allow US, Canadian or Japanese citizens to use their exchange. Gate.io can go fuck itself. Hopefully this terrible trading liquidity problem Tezos has at this early stage willl improve soon.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Tezos discussion on: July 11, 2018, 01:35:34 AM
There's only one exchange trading real xtz, gate.io. Hitbtc isn't providing liquidity to shit, they  don't accept xtz deposit or withdrawals, they are just trading their scam ious.

collect 1 bılıon or more usd waıt 1+ year and get lısted on gate.ıo Cheesy that must be a joke or there ıs a plan for pump ın small markets, than lıst on bıg and dump ıt Cheesy

Gate.io is a very bad start for a big project like this, i pray they have more liquid exchanges in pipeline. but in contrary, whales can't dump their bags in a small exchange like gate because the market there is not liquid enough.

They just started. And I don't think they will pay for listing. So the natural process can take time.
I haven't tried gate.io but based on some comments it looks like not good to be there. All i know is there is only two exchange as of now hitbtc and gate.io. For listing we don't know what are their plans for it binance is a good exchange for them if they want to list.
Doesn't make sense why they are not paying for the Binance listing. They have a lot of money.

We may have to wait till betanet turns to mainnet q3 before big exchanges happen.

I do not see potential success of this project. I think that such projects very quickly come out of the race in the market because the competition is very strong. I hope, of course, that I am wrong)

You're wrong. Tezos compares very favorably to the rest of the top 20.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Tezos discussion on: July 08, 2018, 06:48:33 PM
More money was injected in XTZ's market in last 24 hours alone which resulted this bounce of 37% in its price and took it to $2.36 after constant decline. Investors are not happy with listing on gate.io but notably all the volume of over $10 million was produced only on this exchange. I still didn't jump on it and continuously watching the market closely.

You gonna wait for $50 to jump in?

Looks like the launch has left Popcorn1 speechless. Either that or the crack money ran out.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Tezos discussion on: June 26, 2018, 03:59:31 AM
Nobody will sell XTZ for 3xROI, but for 30xROI...maybe Cheesy

There will always be people selling for x3, much more important is how many people want to buy. I hope there will be a decent hype as soon as the Mainnet is released, I will certainly keep my Tezos.

And if you think about it usually it is a smart thing to do. Imagine you are waiting in the stock market for your money to go x3...

Trading is part of the growth I also think we see sellers at every level. We see this kind of method repeating in every project especially when it is get started I hope in long term strong hands will take real advantage the rise of the price.

Being a strong hand isn't easy. Holding a bad investment doesn't really mean you are a strong hand. What I understand about being a strong hand also means that you need to put a lot of effort into reevaluating your investment constantly.

Strong hands can afford to sit and wait and if something ends up worthless it's ok. Strong hands hodl.

What happens when you don't pass KYC? Will you get your contribution back (in Eth of Bitcoin)?

Can't imagine them refusing a refund if you don't pass KYC..

Have you ever read terms of ICO? All funds were treated as a donation. So no refund.

Well at that time the whole issue of KYC was not known to investors. I can imagine investors who will now be left without tokens due to failed KYC, will invoke error in order to annul the agreement/donation.

My guess is this will hold up in court.

People who can't pass or refuse to do the KYC process will still be able to sell their tokens peer to peer simply by selling their private key info through escrow. Since the foundation plans to leave the kyc process open indefinitely, they can wait till a good price to do so, which makes this option much better than if they had simply offered refunds at ico price.

Just a question about popcorn. someone reads (and understands) his posts?

Yeah, the guy is on crack.
I just have him ignored (blocked) so his posts do not display.
.
.

My guess is he cashed in huge on the 2017 bubble and is now smoking/snorting/shooting his way through the profits. His only daily responsibilities are to post to this thread, eat, shit, and do more hits/snorts/injections. In his mind he is the great deliverer of knowledge, and what we see is some idiot high on drugs who needs to be put on ignore.
