321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SSD] Sonic - 1st TOR with functional anon send - Steganography based Anon App on: September 29, 2014, 05:20:32 AM
So...who wants to help me test this tomorrow?

Question - Do both parties need to be completely updated for this to work?  I would really like to try this out but want to make sure all of the details are correct (am updating everything per Russell's earlier post but would like clarification on if the receiving party needs to be similarly set-up)...

Im not sure what you are wondering about? The relay is setup on your local computer. It intercepts the sonicVortex image decodes the image, and then pushes the encrypted transaction through to the wallet. The receiver just needs to be on the correct chain and the transaction will go through. If you need further clarification I am usually around IRC and will respond when i can.

Also of note. 1 L not to :p

also for those wondering, just wanted to crosspost this from the xst thread.
argakiig was part of the XST devteam, but at one point decided to leave the team and create his own currency, the sonic.
Seems to me that they still do some things together

Argakiig has his own coin, Sonic. He was on the XST dev team but decided to make his own coin. He was never on the Arcoin team, just a temporary hired hand to make a block explorer. To my knowledge he does not communicate with the Arcoin developer any more. Like me, he works on his coin without any external compensation, so when a job comes around he takes it so he can eat, feed his family, and buy things he needs.

Argakiig and I collaborate all the time. We develop code together and we have ideas together. Each coin is a test bed for different technologies that will go into the other at some point. This is typically how altcoins progress anyway, except in our case it's not an adversarial relationship. For example, the StealthCoin team developed anonymous SMS transactions, and Sonic extended this idea to steganographic transactions.

For each coin, major technological innovations will not overlap until long after the markets have absorbed the impact of these innovations. But on minor points there will be overlap. Collaboration, rather than conflict, is the future direction of crypto-currencies. Given the history of conflict within these markets, it may be hard to accept a new paradigm of collaboration, but it's happening.

Yes we do collaborate, but we believe this is the future of crypto. In regards to the apps they do entirely different things. Sonicvortex is steganography and encryption to initiate a transaction. Stealthsms is encrypted sms initiated transactions.  You see the difference?

I'd hate to be a noob. But does staking the coins mean I must keep the wallet open all the time?

If you don't have any coins at least 3 days aged you don't technically need to keep your wallet open. If you want to stake though you will need to. If you want to use sonicvortex it needs to be open and unlocked.
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SSD] Sonic - 1st TOR with functional anon send - Steganography based Anon App on: September 26, 2014, 04:37:19 PM
I like what this coin is doing! Currently holding since 6/800s! My suggestion though is implement something like reddcoins POSv. POSv in redd rewards users who keep their nodes up by implementing age decay. Age decay kicks in after 14 days so if your coins don't stake at least once every 14 days they will gain less age every day therefore making it beneficial to keep your node up!

Keep it up dev!
Instead of this I have already implemented coin age stopping at 15 so stake weight doesn't increase past that

How to setup SonicRelay for use with SonicCoin

Required files
Sonic(see above) package extract to %userprofile%\sonicrelay
f5.jar location should be %userprofile%\sonicrelay
sonicrelay.exe(see above) location should be %userprofile%\sonicrelay

Start with the QT shut down.

Step 1. Create SonicScrewdriver.conf file in the %appdata%/SonicScrewdriver folder
   Contents must include:
   rpcuser=
   rpcpassword=
   rpcport=
   server=1
   daemon=1
   listen=1
   clientsecret=<same as sonicvortex>
   sonicsecret=<same as sonicvortex>
   sonicpin=<same as sonicvortex>

rpcuser and rpcpassword allow for communication via the daemon. The rpcport just needs to be an unused port.

Step 2. Create file named .sonicrelay and place in %userprofile% directory with contents
   daemon = <location of sonicd.exe>
   sender = <email used to send confirm email>
   username = <username for email>
   password = <password for email>
   server = <smtp server:port example (smtp.gmail.com:587)>
   confirm_address = <address to send confirmation to>
   success = Awesome Sauce
   fail = lolzors

Step 3. Download and install Mozilla Thunderbird Mail client. Setup with your email and create new localfolder called SonicRelay
Step 4. Go to add ons and search for FiltaQuilla (will require restart of Thunderbird)
Step 5. Open FiltaQuilla Options make sure run file and save attachments to are checked.
Step 6. Go to message filters and create new.
Step 7. Name filter, Set match all of the following to 'Subject' 'is' 'Awesome Image' and 'Body' 'is' 'Check out this awesome image I found'

Step 8. Under Perform these actions set 'Save Attachemts To' '%userprofile%\sonicrelay',
'Move Message To' 'LocalFolder SonicRelay' and 'Run File' '%userprofile%\sonicrelay\SonicRelay.exe'

Also if you find a bug feel free to post it, I will gladly admit if I am wrong and fix it.

I think I know what would have happened though.

As you can see in the pastebin the wallet was corrupted and the most recent backup they had was 8 days prior. When reverting to this backup the keypool was taken back to the previous state. This would allow addresses that had already been assigned to be reassigned.
Addresses should've been taken out from the key pool if they had been used in transaction, blockchain was synced, so queue shouldn't contain those addresses, at least in theory.

If you can point to me where this bug is I will correct it as I have stated before. That's the beauty of open source, anyone is welcome to look at it and post changes that can/should be made.

You are full of shit. Try again.

Code:
14:23:30
getnewaddress
14:23:30
scjDCfCAFwhPh5CrrntZM4n2irM3EXmKWp
14:23:32
getnewaddress
14:23:32
seF4pdfCKwH4kppNnJowbuRSh3ZkH34FAX
14:23:36
getnewaddress 'account'
14:23:36
sRFS3cT1qmAYtsVg5miGaQia6skRJjdZA9
14:23:39
getnewaddress 'account2'
14:23:39
saYKAi5SgvwZvWJDSVqavarBpzHs8QwYj5
14:27:13
getnewaddress 'account2'
14:27:13
shFxZ2D7dpULoos2bd9BU7TZ7yUfzLkEV6

Your example is not relevant to the case.

Wallet after migration returned addresses that were used before migration, for example:
sc7zK5PrZUbTTfM2ZKrQ3Q6rnxmLtDr858
scSHt3SGSVFuZP6aBP5UiUzYHfWBy5hu7a

After migration and salvaging wallet, it returned the same addresses, presumably in the same order, my bet that's bug is related to key pool queue, it's developer job to determinate exact cause. If someone has better explanation why it was happened and why addresses were reused, you can post your version of events.

Also if you find a bug feel free to post it, I will gladly admit if I am wrong and fix it.

Still getting this error for line 557 and cant compile on linux.

/root/Sonicscrewdriver/src/rpcrawtransaction.cpp:557: undefined reference to `decryptsonictxt(std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> >, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> >, std::vector<std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> >, std::allocator<std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > > >&)'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [Sonicd] Error 1

Dev, can you please address this call in rpcrawtransaction.cpp so that I can compile your wallet.

That is because the make file is not fully setup yet. its still missing headers.

Ok, I'm @CryptoRussian on twitter and C-CEX asked me to look into coin source to help with analyzing problem.

I haven't found something suspicious or intentional in the code, at least where I looked, but bug certainly exists. C-CEX used rpc call to get new addresses for deposits(just like any other exchange) and after migration to the new version(with instructions provided by the developer), wallet started to behave strangely, instead of generating new addresses for deposits - it returned previously used addresses from the key pool. I'm waiting to hear developer explanations on this issue, I presume migration wasn't really tested extensively and there are some other issues in the code that can blow eventually.

C-CEX had their mistake with assumptions about the addresses being unique, well, call to getnewaddress assumes that you get new address instead of old one. Unfortunately this lesson wasn't free.

As for price and loosing your coins.. well, developers should test features before releasing them, traders/miners should expect to loose coins due to bugs in code if the wallet has problems, nothing new.

No contact has been made. And why is C-Cex the only exchange to have experienced this issue? Please enlighten me as to where the issue would be so I can fix it if it does infact exist

SonicVortex is a way to hide encrypted transactions by steganography.
You take a picture, author a transaction, then SonicVortex embeds the encrypted transaction in a picture.  It uses the f5 steganography algorithm, which uses matrix encoding to hide the picture, making it almost impossible to detect that any hidden communication is present.
Moreover, the encryption is state-of-the-art AES/GCM encryption, suitable for banks and governments. So even in the highly unlikely event that any communication becomes suspected, it is impossible for an adversary to ascertain the nature of the communication. Thus, your transaction is hidden and protected from even the most powerful adversaries.
Additionally, AES/GCM protects against any changes to the encrypted, hidden transaction. If just one pixel of the picture is changed, it will be detected and the transaction rejected.

Arga, it seems like no one is mining on the wrong client anymore, but could you delete the explorah.net link from the ANN?

There's no point in having it if it's on the wrong client.

I went through and made contact again today to have him update to the correct chain. I am hoping he will be able to switch it over.

that was not a mockup. It is the actual functioning app. the only setback is that the daemon and qt arent building right now

One last thing to note. There was no doublespend attack at C-Cex. The best I can tell is that they were on the wrong chain for 10 days during which time they received deposits for coins on the wrong chain, and then when they finally updated they didnt check the database to make sure all inputs were actually valid.
