161  Economy / Collectibles / Re: New Casascius Tracker (in development) on: August 17, 2018, 02:47:24 PM
Thanks everyone, glad you like the resource!

The goal of the tool was to be able to do extensive analysis on Casascius coins, ie. destruction trends, frequency, overall rarity, etc.

Great work!! Can you explain what you mean by "destruction"? Do you mean redeemed?

Thanks Cheesy Yeah, destroyed refers to redeemed. At least, thats how I view them. If this is not intuitive or may be misleading, we can definitely relabel these.

When I am done refining the tool, I may look into extending the tool to other coins. If there are any suggestions or requests, please include them here.

Feel free to take advantage of provided information for NastyFans Minted Seats.  You can contact me with any questions or refer to the existing analyzer as a reference.
Thanks for this, will do when I am ready to proceed with non-Casascius coins Smiley The good thing is that the code is modular and extensible so it'll be pretty easy to add other coins with little to no effort Smiley I just need to get the main one down first.

There might be destroyed coins out there - physically.  So they no longer exist.
The redeemed coins have a market of their own, they just don't have any balance associated with physical coin.

https://roguebitcoin.com/ does not specify if what they are selling are the 2018 versions.  Probably needs to gave a better description.

Nice! I thought about doing that with my collection. Good luck with the auction!
This is a great way to protect your Bitcoin magazines for a long time...

This grading and holdering by CGC is a great idea!
I wonder of NGC is not too far behind starting to grade physical btc coins...
166  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Kialara gold #30 on: July 28, 2018, 02:03:12 PM
@Zepher is right, collectible sale prices are down and it is a buyer's market now. Auction prices prove that. A lot has changed in the last three months and the Collectibles board is noticeably less active. Goldies will probably sell for over $5000 again when the next bull market comes. Might be next year before bitcoin price is over $10K again and sale prices start trending up. Good luck with your sale!
The Gold kialaras are now the 3rd rarest?  First would be moon set @ pop. 21 and then the ruby version?

Yes, it should be changed.  USA should switch to consumption tax only and drop any income taxation.  Something like a VAT system would collect a lot more money than is currently.
And it's fair, based on spending.  Don't want to pay much? Don't spend much...

As great as this would be, it would disincentivize consumerism. No company would ever support it. It can even be made friendly to the poor by giving them a tax number and the ability to spend tax exempt up to $5000-10000 in a year, thus paying a lesser total tax rate on the bare necessities.

I can't see a valid argument against that. The whole thing would be easier to calculate as well, we could burn about a library worth of tax code rules and pay billions less in tax preparation every year just in the US.
I disagree completely.  People will keep buying whatever they need.
Look at VAT.  How does that impede consumerism in EU or Canada?
171  Other / Off-topic / Re: Google Fined $5 Billion, Given 90 Days to Stop ‘Illegal Practices’ on: July 19, 2018, 02:03:54 PM
I get a feeling the european union is money hungry and searching for ways to "boost revenues". Fining google $5 billion for "anti trust violations" was the best plan they could come up with.

There are far worse violators of anti trust than google who will never be fined. The entire concept of anti trust may have become somewhat obsolete with the advent of global markets. There is an imbalance in the way business is approached. Some nations file anti trust suits against their own local businesses which cripples their own economy. Other nations throw state support behind local business in an effort to grow them larger than rival nations.

The concept of local markets being regulated in terms of anti trust is something which hasn't seriously been pursued for decades. US lawmakers gave up on filing serious anti trust suits against microsoft from as far back as when Bill Gates was acting CEO.

Its only recently with governments becoming more desperate for cash that the "anti trust" issue has become a serious issue. And that is only because states desperately need money and have no other recourse.
Ofcourse they want money! They keep harping at Google (and others) for not paying "enough" taxes.  So this is just another way to extract those moneys.
Remember MSFT anti-trust with EU?

You can either pay the ransom or sign a message... There's no other way to get your account back.
Maybe the "hacker" is willing to use escrow?
