OP thinks bitcoin is only big because its first. ha ha ha ha ha

what a narrow minded idea.

the truth is that bitcoin is more successful because more then a few thousand people are being paid wages purely in bitcoin,
the truth is that bitcoin is more successful because more then a 100,000 merchants accepting bitcoin
the truth is that bitcoin is more successful because more then 50 separate ways to get bitcoin<->FIAT

its called infrastructure, now name me one altcoin that has this usefulness!!

And that was all made possible because bitcoin had first mover advantage, use your head man.

It's called innovation and sooner or later an altcoin is going to make it big on innovation because bitcoin is to scared to. Some altcoins have already seen very good success, Bitcoin could increase it's worth past the point that it's already at if it just accepted this.
I don't think you really understand Bitcoin.  and contrary to your statement, no altcoin is an improvement.  they are scams.  designed to enrich someone or some group.
1003  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] ASICMiner Tube Group Buy #1 on: August 12, 2014, 09:56:14 PM
How firm are you on "domestic"? No shipments to Canada?
if you are able to create a label I can drop it off at post office.  the problem with this is many have tried, but if you're outside of US you won't be able to.
also, your fedex non-US account won't work either.  but you are more than welcome to email me a label that I can use.
1004  Economy / Speculation / Re: The only reason Bitcoin is more valuable then other altcoins on: August 12, 2014, 09:51:05 PM
Bitcoin is more valuable (some might say that it is the only valuable cc) because it does everything that is supposed to do.
Of course it has some issues (scalability etc.) but i don't see any of those issues addressed by any alt coin.

Don't expect a coin to overthrow bitcoin because it has pos vs pow, or because it is 100% premined, or because it is written from scratch etc...
about scalability non-issue... there was a post couple days ago on reditt about it...

...AND because I have impeccable trust ratings here on the forums as well as in the OTC WoT. ...

Indeed - I'll vouch that I've worked with you several times, and you've gone above and beyond every time.

I can vouch for the .5 brass coins.  came from my purchase with Mike.  nubbins bought a bunch from me.
1006  Economy / Speculation / Re: The only reason Bitcoin is more valuable then other altcoins on: August 12, 2014, 09:21:40 PM
The only reason Bitcoin is more valuable then other altcoins is first mover advantage. It's the truth if you compare bitcoin to a lot of alt coins on the technical side Bitcoin is lacking heavily. If the Protocol was updated to do something more like a lot of altcoins do I feel this is what would truly make the Bitcoin price sky rocket.

That's one opinion. Another opinion might be that the these supposedly "superior" or "innovative" altcoins are in fact dangerously insecure bastardizations of the bitcoin protocol.
you forgot to add "scams"

price is determined by supply/demand, not mimicking an alt to influence price.  also, your assumption of advantage is fundamentally wrong.

changing block time or pre-mine amount or total circulation is nothing but a copy designed to scam people.  etc... etc... etc...
1008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A2 Terminator uses different IP than my network - Please help on: August 12, 2014, 09:09:32 PM
m on windows just got my A2 Terminator yet i have an issue.
The machine has static IP of 192.168.1.130 YET my network is at 192.168.0.* and the machien actually shows up at  192.168.0.15 but that will not let me mine or enter panel of it.

Im using Thompson router.

So my question is: how to either change this static IP of A2 to one in my network or how to make somehow on router so 192.168.0.15 is actually an 192.168.1.130 in my local network.

Im totlaly cluless, please help
the easiest thing to do is to add a secondary IP to your woirkstation in the same subnet as the miner.
so your workstation has an IP on your current 192.168.0.0/24 (assuming 24 bit subnet mask aka 255.255.255.0) and assign a secondary address on 192.168.1.0/24 (no default gw, no dns entries, just IP and mask)
now your workstation can communicate with devices on either subnet.  You can login to the miner and change it's IP.
you can add a tertiary address to accommodate some other miner in the future that decides to ship with a default IP in yet another subnet. etc... etc...

Do you have any instructions as far as putting the "kit" together?

I'm just wondering as far as if it will require any soldering?  Or if it is a friendly build kit.
it looks like you assemble it without soldering.

Based on lit of contents, I think it goes like this:

- assemble blades: install thermal pads onto pcb, attach heatsink.
- installed assembled into the cooling structure (cage)
- cross-connect serial wires. (up to 32 blades can be linked together)
- install the fan on the cage, connect power to one of the blades.
- connect Ethernet controller to one of the serial ports
- connect power and turn on.

I think that a step by step guide (pictorial) would be made rather quickly by those who receive their Tubes first.

Why is no one complaining about the 16 second block from earlier?
If you're implying that you had direct influence over the 16 second block, by all means, keep rolling. /sarc Smiley

People complain about issues, not when things are operating as expected.

You really want to ask "why are people not give me enough due positive feedback for when things are running well"?  And this has been lacking, to be honest here.

Also, perhaps you should consider taking on more help if this is too much for one person.  You often state, I'm doing all I can, there's only one of me.  Which is ABSOLUTELEY true and correct.  Therefore, why not expand and have a few more people available to lend a hand.  Is there at least a steering group of sorts to think about the future?

I've stuck with Eligius for a long time now, with the hopes that it grows.  I'm still just hopeful.  It is the best pool in my opinion.  But it lacks in the perception department.  Now, if this is really a pool for "good 'ol buys club" (derived from attitudes of a few posters) and that's it, I understand.  My hopes then have been wrong.

However, I do hope that the pool desires to grow fast and takes steps to achieve that goal.

Do the hardware manufacturers even realize what the bitcoin difficulty is lately? We need asic miners that perform in the > 4th/s range at this point.
"Do the hardware manufacturers even realize what the bitcoin difficulty is lately?"  I can assure you that manufacturers know what the difficulty is.  what's the point of this question?

who is "we" ? large mining operations or individual miners?  say, if at home, do you think you actually have an outlet to handle a 4th/s piece of equipment from any manufacturer today?

I´m in for 3... but some doubts.

-This price include shipping ?
-We will receive a mounted product or a bunch of parts ?
-Please provide your email.
- I have no indication to the contrary at this time from ASICMiner.  however, you will need to email me shipping labels for domestic shipping to you.
- you will need to assemble it.
- updated OP

It´s important to define the shipping price issue;
How I can do this ? "you will need to email me shipping labels for domestic shipping to you."
what is the "shipping price issue"?
you can generate a label via usps.com website, save it as a pdf right after paying for it and then you can email me that pdf file.  it's very easy, I promise Smiley

friedcats refund policy: "2. No refunds after the generation of tracking numbers."

Yours is "no refunds given once payment is sent to ASICMiner" ?!

So, you pocket the refund friedcat would send you?! what is this?!
Excuse me?  accusing me of wanting to pocket non existent refunds... go troll elsewhere

payment is due by 16th.  at that time I expect friedcat to generate tracking numbers, so that I won't be able to refund.
and often, I do pre-payment and probably will already have a tracking number in hand when someone's order comes in.
1019  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: August 12, 2014, 03:59:13 PM
been awhile since I wrote SQL... rusty.
just curious, can someone PM me how to calculate the value on my id?

Can you make getting legendary provability fair? So we know if you don't like us that we get it anyway Smiley

Nah, that'd significantly complicate things. Currently this randomness is done with a single SQL query, which is very convenient.

Code:
update smf_members set ID_POST_GROUP=21 where ID_POST_GROUP=8 and
activity>=775 and activity>=775+conv(substr(sha1(concat(ID_MEMBER,
secretSeed)), 1, 2), 16, 10);

The required activity level per user is suitably random for betting, but anyone who can read my code (there are a few such people) will be able to exactly predict when someone will become Legendary, so I don't really recommend it.
1020  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 12, 2014, 03:10:54 PM
I can see new cases getting designed to house hashing units for all kinds of configurations Smiley

Are you selling the new miners from ASICMiner? I think you are quite a well renown seller of those devices in the past. Has AM stopped featuring 'official' resellers???
