462  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cryptsy ~ Some fishy happenings on: August 29, 2014, 11:48:13 PM
I got this response from Support after I queried non-receipt of some coins though I can see they have been sent by checking the blockchain:

"I apologize for the inconvenience. We had a server outage last night and many wallets are involved. Network Admin and BigVern worked through the night to get things
back online with new server and we are now adding wallets to the server, redownloading the chains and getting them back in service.

We ask for your patience as we do this. For security reasons I cannot list the wallets affected, but I can tell you that we are bringing them back in order of volume

Sincerely,
Michelle

Watch this space guys. Things are being formulated in the background  Grin

serious??

Yes we are. Dont dump your coins just yet. Armis is getting a team together including some of the board members we originally voted for - we need 1-2 more people interested. If anyone wants to put their hand up, reply here or PM Armis.

excellent news!! i have already messaged Armis and showed my support

lets do this....

Great, we need enthusiastic board members.

We gave Ryan the opportunity seeing as he was one of the original dev's to bring the coin back from the dead but he has failed. We now move ahead with Armis, who showed real leadership. Some of the original board members we voted for have dropped off but thats fine. We want people that are committed and prepared to work hard to bring this coin back to life. I'll PM Armis as well and see where we go from here. Personally, I would like to see this show on the road sooner than later, as Im sure we all do.

A lot of time and dedication will be needed if we want this coin to come back. Not everyone can do it.

Agreed. After further discussion with Armis I think we will continue to canvass for a 5th board member.

Holy crap man, you must be new here?

I see my rep/trust as +16 as I dont have my trust set to 'defaulttrust'. Personally I dont think I know anyone on that list so why would I be part of it? As regards the trust level you see, that's because you are on the defaulttrust setting, yet I bet you dont know anyone on that list either lol, and even if you do, I bet you couldn't vouch for their rep/trust anyway...

I'm also seeing +16 for your trust rating so it's very odd how others see a bad negative rating.  It shouldn't be that complex and everyone should see the same thing.

I agree, it is pretty fricken stupid that could look different for other people, kind of COMPLETELY defeats the purpose of even displaying such a rating.

I apologize man, I admittedly AM in fact pretty new around here and also admit I know VERY little how the trust rating worked.  Should have known better being a crypto forum, that it was screwy.  From my end, I have not seen such a horrible rating as yours APPEARS to me.  It honestly looks like you have scammed and cheated hella people on this forum, only reason I even made a comment.......I was somewhat shocked to see it!

I would be pissed if I were you and my profile looked like that to others.

I still don't understand what you tried to explain regarding the default settings.  Doesn't seem like it would make a difference though if these ratings are so screwed up!

Again, apologies for my previous post.....it appears it was out of line and based on false information!

Not a problem bud, apology accepted. As regards my 'rating', its nothing compared to some..take a look at negative trust Ive sent for some people..some of them are up in the minus hundreds lolz. The problem with the system is its open to abuse. In my case for example I've never scammed anyone, though I did get ripped off on a trade here once. The neg trust in my case is largely from a few casino operators and their sock-puppet accounts which they gave because I helped a friend promote his casino. I personally didn't even know any of these low-lifes prior to them giving me neg trust so its a faulty system that is essentially meaningless because you have no way of ever knowing if positive or negative feedback is genuine or warranted. Its about time the system was ditched as it has failed to achieve its intentions, miserably.

In the meantime, you can change your trust settings by going into your profile & clicking on the 'trust' link. From there you can select 'trust settings' and make your own trust list which will over-ride 'default-trust'. If you don't, your trust level is at the mercy of a select few that are members of the 'defaultTrust' list. Most members here have NFI about any of this and automatically assume neg trust is in fact accurate, which in many cases its not, and so is very misleading.

471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sorry guys - i'm ready to call it - its been fun, well played. on: August 23, 2014, 02:37:45 AM
Well I think your making a big mistake. I too 'got out' for a period a year or so ago when BTC was worth only $5 & mining was largely unprofitable, but history has shown me how wrong I was to write off cryptocoins, even for a period.

I can understand you 'getting out' for a bit but even if your not involved in buying, selling or mining, I'd still stick my head on here on a reasonably regular basis just to see how things are going. The crypto market is still such that something major could happen tomorrow that could change the goalposts completely and once again make mining/buying very profitable.

Bottom line is, cryptocurrency isnt going away, even if you are.

475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is below 5 USD ,what should I do on: August 21, 2014, 07:13:08 AM
ltc is a big gamble Wink i thought there will be more resistance @ 5$ but it gone through pretty easy.
imo 6.8 is possible as next target. but if it falls back below 5$ then there will be panic again.

The problem for LTC is its 'just another altcoin'. There's absolutely NOTHING special about it. If I was holding LTC right now I would be bailing out & buying some volatile (ie potentially profitable) alts.
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Carboncoin - The currency for a greener future on: August 21, 2014, 06:16:22 AM
Right now, it's the equivalent of only being able to make transactions up to 0.21BTC.

I dont understand why a limit of 20 million is a problem!!? Sure if it was 1 or 2 million youd have a very valid point but as it is ok you may have to click 2or 3 times instead of once, not really much of an issue!!

agreed this coin has much bigger problems Wink

Yeah like dealing with clowns like you!!!

You won't be around much longer..

Hey guys, has the block reward on CARB reduced recently? Reason I ask is it seems the CARB mined daily per MH/s has dropped on the pool even though the difficulty is only 4 Huh

The halving interval for Carboncoin is 50,112 blocks. So there was a reward reduction at block 150,336.

https://github.com/carboncointrust/CarboncoinCore/blob/master/src/chainparams.cpp#L40

Thanks for this
