Does anyone else think that $2500 is likely for today?

I still wonder why the premium on the OTC market is this much higher than the current market rate. Right now it is enjoying a 100% premium: https://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/GBTC/quote
Anything is possible in BTC land.

This is scary:

Antminer s9
13.th/s
1300w

time to generate 1 BTC with 13.5th/s 175 days
daily power cost at 0.06 cent rate, 1.87 US/day
175 day x 1.87USD =

only 327.25USD power cost to generate one BTC!!!!

Cost of 327USD would be fine at rates like 700-1000USD but hashrate is atleast 3 times too small to support current 2200USD price.

Hashrate has no time to correct this, price will.

Another to watch out for is the calculations are based on todays specs. Each day that goes by the diff gets higher and your return decreases. By the time 175 days have passed I wouldn't be surprised if your earnings all but halved!

Actually it might be worth getting a divorce now before the price gets any higher!
Could end up giving away more in the future  Wink

it's going so fast. Ho many % in one month ?
Over 100% !!

On a side note, anyone know somewhere in the UK that accepts BTC for a nice car?

Congratulations - enjoy the well earned BTC =)

If it's more than £11K watch out for CGT, who knows what data from kyc/aml is passed to HMRC behind the scenes. Probably better to hold 20% for a year in reserve just in case.
Thanks for the heads up.
Makes buying a Nice car less fun :-(

Weird, If you look at where Japan sits in bitcoin related searches it is right at the bottom at number 73?
With all the euphoria and interest over there I would have expected it to be higher or am I missing something?

Japan's internet proxies run out of Norway and South Africa
Thanks Poolminor.
Nothing is quite what it seems these days is it?

or withdraw for a bank account and use the bank's credit card
Cheers

My latest purchase I just received this morning. I think it is appropiate, in this times we are living, to remember some things from the recent (2007-2009) past.

Ha!  It resembles Monopolytm money Wink

Yep, but they are authentic and were issued with a very little time difference. The 1 zim dollar is from 2007, and the 10 trillion one is from 2008. Awesome, isn't it?

That's some FIAT inflation.

They changed it into $2 ''bond note'' and the party will go on and on  Undecided

Uhhh, I don't know if that $2 bond is more valuable or not.... but it doesn't remotely have the coolness factor of my 10 trillion dollars bank note Smiley

The picture of the rocks on those notes slightly resembles a turd! Probably would have been more appropriate to use a turd anyway!

Cars? I prefer the kind you don't have to drive. Driving impairs drinking.

How about this then Jimbo?

Speaking of those who hodled through the grim years of 2014/2015, I just want to say I'm in awe of you guys, your patience, your endurance and your vision.  I hope you're all rich now, you bloody deserve to be!!
I was one of those peeps. Yes it was hard, at one point I had got to the stage where I had decided that I would HODL until it went to zero and then put it down to a lesson in what NOT to do in the future (at the time I had around 10 BTC).
As things turned out (so far anyway) seems like it wasn't such a bad idea after all (I have since increased my holdings substantially).
I guess the underlying faith comes from whether you believe in the tech or not, and I always thought that Bitcoin was a good idea.

How many bitcoins must one currently hold, as a citizen of a first world country, to be exited about the bitcoin price (movements)?

Of course, there is no "must" when it comes to this kind of a thing, and even in the "first world" there is a considerable amount of variance in income and in how much someone might have available to invest.

if you are feeling fairly bullish about bitcoin, then holding 10% of your quasi-liquid investments in bitcoin could be a good thing.. and maybe for some people that could be up to 10 bitcoins, but they might not get rich in the shorter term with 10 bitcoins, so maybe 100 would be a better target.. even though 100 might be too difficult to achieve for some people, especially if they are just entering into BTC and 10 might be more realistic.

So 100 bitcoins it is. How many dollars must one currently hold, as a citizen of a first world country, to be considered rich?
>$10,000,000?
I don't think 100BTC would class you as rich since, at todays prices, that would be ~$120,000

Sheesh. Hope this whole episode is over and done with soon. Can you imagine how this looks to anyone thinking of entering the crypto world?
Price jumping up and down like a yo-yo and most people here screaming 'crypto is dead'. It would be scary as hell to want to invest.
I have been on the scene for quite a while now and seen it all before so I don't get so jumpy anymore but for a n00b they would run to the hills!
Just hoping that things calm down and we can ge on with doing what Bitcoin does best and Moon!

The question is 'Do you believe in Bitcoin'?
If the answer is yes then buy and hodl.
If the answer is no then gtfo and leave the rest of us to get on with it!!
