Uphold looks interesting. 0.75% exchange fee is a little high but certainly looks convenient way to swap currencies.
isn't the ceo of uphold borderline anti bitcoin? i seem to remember him saying it would be nowhere in a few years, kinda like the circle ceo funnily enough. and they're balls deep in some weird crypto named voxels that i've never heard of. Only just started looking so don't know who is running the show or if that is of any concern for me at this point?

any other UKers here holding their breath for ~$1230 when we finally hit £1000? that is gonna be when my head explodes.
Yep - one here Spooder. That would be fantastic. The crazy thing is, I've tried to explain bitcoin to quite a few people over the last few years. Some have nodded approvingly - but most have been sceptical. But none that I know of have acquired any BTC. I'm watching this rise on my own (so to speak) The one I'm waiting for is $1163 on stamp. And I'm starting to think I might see it before 23:59 GMT. I have spent so much time watching the price over the festive period its embarassing. Where do you guys buy/sell BTC, by the way? I get paid monthly in bitcoin and since Circle shut down BTC sells I have to resort to Coinfloor. It's not bad but still a hassle and you get spanked on withdrawals, of course. I used both of those - Circle was OK. Not used Coinfloor for a while (and when I did it wasn't for long) - little liquidity. Not sold for a while - tend to buy on Localbitcoin. Have you tried Uphold - it used to be called Bitreserve ? As you are being paid in BTC it lets you hold your value (BTC) in various other assets ie. gold, platinum, $ etc. Transfers out in GBP are no worse in fees than anywhere else IIRC Uphold looks interesting. 0.75% exchange fee is a little high but certainly looks convenient way to swap currencies.

Thanks. Looking for convenience and low fees really. Used to use Stamp but the bank fees and appalling FX rate was killing me. I've bought from bitbargain, three years ago as I was learning about BTC, but selling would be a hassle. Will look into Kraken but anywhere abroad will probably use SEPA, which incurs vast penalties. I've got a friend who uses LocalBitcoins, but I don't like the idea of waiting around and doing it all manually. Basically the banking sector here sucks with regard to bitcoin.
Try Bittylicious? I've no idea what it's like as a seller but they're superb to buy from. I'm not sure whether it's in any way automated but try asking them. You get a juicy premium too. Bittylicious is excellent for buying. Same deal with selling as bitbargain, though - approval process and of course you have to wait around and make manual transfers. Will probably stick with Coinfloor for now. They're not terrible, I was just spoiled by the convenience of Circle, sending coins and having them turn up as GBP, with no further action necessary on my part, practically zero slippage and no withdrawal fees. It was too good to be true. Banksters. The day of reckoning is nigh. Yeah tell me about it. Circle was very quick, easy and convenient for trading. Was sorry to see them pack it in.

You could try bitbargain.co.uk Its not an exchange more of a market and the seller fee is a little high but the margins are generally quite high so compensates for that. All depends how many you are trying to shift. Otherwise you could use Kraken but the GBP volume there is quite low unless you convert to Euros. Thanks. Looking for convenience and low fees really. Got to agree with you on that and Kraken does require SEPA and your right about the charges! The sooner BTC becomes the new world currency the better! We can cut all these middlemen out who keep fleecing us!!

Me too. Got into LTC around August 2013. At one point had 3 rigs running 4X7970 then R290X. Made a tidy sum as LTC approached the dizzying hieghts of £50 a coin! Got out of the game after about 6 months whilst the GPUs still had residual value and sold all the kit for around 60% cost price. The money I made mining during this time well exceeded the shortfall in sale price and electricity consumption. At that point I converted to BTC (just as well as LTC started tanking soon after). From then on I began purchasing BTC whenever the price seemed low and while I still believed that the technology would prevail. I had some dark days and panic sold on some occasions but soon bought back when I saw things began to pick up. At one point I remember thinking that I would hold out even if it went to zero since cashing out at that time wouldn't really produce anything worthwhile and I didn't need the money at that time. Boy am I glad I HODLed!!!! I am almost peeing myself watching my savings increase so rapidly. I have since learnt to sell in small amounts on the way up at increments of around 8 to 10% and to buy back the same amount when price drops between 8 and 10%. I am loving BTC at the moment ;-) hats off to you! you did very well. i bought some litecoin in 2013 as well, i can't even remember what i did with them. what is the dollar value now? Showing as $4.41 for LTC on bitcoinwisdom

Only managed to convince one person over the entire time (some 3 and a half years now) to buy and he has the princely sum of 1.25BTC!!!

I'm reading all these posts to my wife and explaining what's happening. Guess what? She's shows no interest as usual just like the general public.
I suppose she is sick of listening to it all from me for the past few years.
Don't worry! In a few years when Bitcoin may be worth a shit ton of money she will hang on your lips and listen very closely to almost everything you're saying! Or more likely split and take half, plus part of future earnings. Ok ok, let's not go down that road please! Don't worry. You can ditch this one and get a new, younger, firmer one when bitcoin goes to the moon. (Sorry, couldn't resist).

This seems to come up every other page, but Adam (the OP) lost access to his account, so that poll is going to stick for eternity until the situation changes.
it's gonna be a legitimate historical artefact for the years to come. let's celebrate it. Some day people will think Adam just forgot the zeros at the end of each voting option. lol

I just don't understand how people like this and like Snowden seem to feel so shocked when they realize that the government is not the wonderful thing they believe it is. They only have themselves to blame for not educating themselves on the world around them. The ramblings of the guy sound like he's watched a bunch of conspiracy YouTube videos and put it all into a single suicide letter. Everything in the letter you could get from watching Alex Jones for a week. If he truly cared about America he would stay alive and collect evidence and expose what people don't already know instead of just parroting what people have been talking about for years. Just like how Snowden revealed a bunch of stuff that people already knew. Those that didn't know already supported what the government was doing anyway, those that did know acted like it was a big deal but they knew it already so it wasn't really a big deal. Meanwhile the guy goes and throws his life away. It can be quite difficult to 'educate' yourself when there is probably more mis-information than fact. Trying to work out what is true and what is spin in a sea of info can be extremely taxing. Besides this guy sounds like he has a mental disorder to me, not that I don't have my own suspicions of most governments.
