This attack is a time warp attack, different from the block weighting attack gatra mentioned. We did patch the block weighting attack months ago. This update actually implements an improved version of defense against the attack gatra mentioned that doesn't require block weightings. Sure that might work on other coins but not on GAP. Block verification is slow, we need to fix this.
Just started the node on a fresh server (Core 2 dual core), and it finished syncing in < 10 minutes. Good to know, something must be wrong with my setup then. |

Is there anything that can be done to speed up syncing ? At the moment it takes over 1h to sync 10 days worth of blockchain data.
It took only minutes here. Whats slowing it down? Network? HDD? Still syncing, problem lies in block verification, its too slow. You could not possibly sync 10 days in couple of minutes, mine is still syncing, 2 days behind, over 1 hour. That happened to me a couple of times on my cloud servers. I shutdown the wallet and restarted it and it synced much faster. Sure that might work on other coins but not on GAP. Block verification is slow, we need to fix this. |

I've done a blockchain analysis and can confirm there has been no gpu action at play. I'll keep monitoring..
Just out of curiosity, how do you detect gpu action? You look for certain patterns in blocks mined. |
