I never got Byteballs during the distribution which truly sucked. And now I just noticed that the Bitcoins that I sent to get Byteball are still unconfirmed. Would it be possible that I will still get Byteballs if they go through, or am I completely screwed?
If your tx isn't in the xmas block, then you haven't made it. To be sure please look up your address(es) here: http://transition.byteball.orgBut don't be sad, there will be several more rounds of distribution. The next one mid february, you can already link your bitcoin addresses to your Byteball wallet.

|
|
Next distribution is going to be 1/5 or so compared to first one, so unlikely it will affect the price a lot. A price will be manipulated by wales who got a lot of bytes during first round.
So only 20,000 GB will be distributed? Probably less. If all GB from the first round is on linked addresses, 10 000 GB will be distributed to the GB holders. Plus, for each linked BTC, 62.5 MB will be distributed; if the linked BTC stays at 70 000 BTC, that's only 4 375 GB. So the Gbytes which were received in the first round need to be actively linked to receive 10% in the second round? I thought this was automatic according to everyones balance... Me too. If I don't have no bitcoins, it does not make sense to link my byteball address. I should receive bytes according to my current balance at current address. Let's wait for clarifications from tonych. Sure, tonych is the right one to clarify this. But there is another consideration to make: if BB will be sent to ALL addresses, a lot of them will be received by exchanges (well, currently the only exchange - cryptox.pl), which doesn't sound like a particularly right thing Exchanges should distribute the BBs to individual accounts. I don't think we need to link byteball's address, it is automatic. All the linked bitcoin addresses should still be valid for the second round, this is my understanding... Exactly. Tony stated this: Q: Is it necessary to use the transition bot if you only have Bytes in your wallet? Will you recognize all wallets with Bytes in it for the additional 0.1 Bytes/Byte or do we have to do something special?
A: you don't have to do anything to receive new bytes

When can we expect to trade BB on an exchange?
It's traded on https://cryptox.pl and the experiences of the byteball community are very good with this young exchange!

This article is wrong to say there are 10^12 bytes, lol. There are 10^15 bytes, isn't it? The author is apparently weak in Math and does not count zeros correctly. I am not familiar with IOTA, is there 2.78*10^15 IOTA? unless the author counted digits wrong again, I read somewhere 40K IOTA worth 1 BTC? this mean IOTA market cap worth 70 billions BTC??? I must missed something here... You're right: The total number of bytes is 1015, all bytes will be issued in the genesis transaction. Since the fees paid are returned into the circulation, the money supply will remain the same.

Can you explain how ByteBall is fundamentally different from IOTA?
AFAIK - no POW, Byteball uses fees to prevent spam - no ICO, Byteball coins are given out for free in several airdrops - Byteball has full and light wallets with easy gui for Linux, OSX, Windows, Android, iOS - Byteball uses chat bots to communicate with the user - Byteball is based on javascript, IOTA on java - Byteball is already traded on an exchange (cryptox.pl) and listed on coinmarketcap.com http://www.tangleblog.com/2017/01/03/byteball-vs-iota-token/Thanks! I was really wanting to know what was the new consensus algorithm that was used that is different from IOTA. Also, how are untraceable payments achieved? Does ByteBall use RS ?

OP updated to a more precise description of the second round distribution:Participation in Byteball distribution
If you missed the 1st round of distribution, you can still participate in the further rounds. If you were in the 1st round, you can multiply your holdings. In the second round, which is expected in mid-February, you receive: - 62.5 MB for every 1 BTC of proven balance - 0.1 new bytes for every 1 byte you own at the moment of the snapshot
You also receive blackbytes: - 62.5 * 2.1111 * 106 blackbytes for every 1 BTC of proven balance - 0.21111 new blackbytes for every 1 byte you hold on the linked address at the moment of the snapshot (total money supply of blackbytes is 2.1111 times more than that of bytes)
Byteball translators, please update your threads ASAP, thanks!

I think the need to add other trading sites, at least it's safer for shoppers and merchants That's true, but we do our best to keep OTC trades safe in our slack and to keep scammers and impostors away! Please use one of the three registered escrow services (Yassin, Seccour or Martis), due to them every OTC trade went smoothly so far.

It is possible but rather involved. One way to restore from the seed is by installing the headless wallet https://github.com/byteball/headless-byteball. It stores the seed in a file keys.json in its data directory. Run the wallet once to see the format of the file (it'll generate new keys the first time it runs), then delete all data and recreate keys.json from your saved seed. It should see the balance, then you can move the entire balance from the headless to a GUI wallet via chat commands.

Who can create a how-to video for dummies (especially for transferring Blackbytes)?
|
|
|
Was meinst Du denn mit "Specs (Dummy)"?

Need some bytes for sending blackbytes ?
Yes, from my experience it's about 1500 Bytes per tx.
