Is peeled 1.0BTC has different price to peeled 0.5BTC?

I'm planning peeled some of my casascius coin since I can't ship it international because it has value inside.  Sad

Where are you located, maybe there is a buyer in the same country ?
1122  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: January 27, 2020, 03:41:20 AM
Also heard another rumor that there exist companies set up in the UK that were on paper were providing customer and technical support for Cryptopia but in reality did very little work are owned by the Cryptopia directors and shareholders but are as a separate legal entities are in the liquidators list of creditors to be paid huge sums of money that "owed" to them alongside the other companies, staff etc in that list, so these people will get to double and triple dip on the payout from liquidation! Sad

I remember December 2017 - January 2018 - February 2018  Talking with Cryptopia Director and shareholder, INSIDE their office of the possibilities of them opening a technical center + customer center in London so they have with NZ a all day round customer support.
NZ is +12h with London.

What you say sounds very plausible as I heard plans from the own mouth of the directors.
Also, I read cover to cover the liquidator reports.
They are being charged $305 to $600/h for technical support, I wonder if it is this different company in England....

Ethically this wouldn't be very fair that they are charging to fix their own fuck up  with the money confiscated from unaffected users.

At the time of the hack I had about 0.5btc worth of altcoins.

What type of pacing  ? or your just your leg when on your desktop? OR are you running standstill ?
Is it because of nervousness or to exercise?

You could look for "rubber tile flooring for gym" that has a better shock and sound absorption than carpet.

1127  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Posting on BitcoinTalk: how do I know when my post is "too long"? on: January 26, 2020, 10:19:29 PM
There is no such thing as a post too long.

If what you have to say is very long, then use some paragraphs and formating.

One thing that is quite cool is a bar like this one :

text text

The code is [  h  r  ]

Also, if English isn't your first language, you could use something like Grammarly to autocorrect and improve the text.

1128  Other / Meta / Re: Yet incomplete Merit system. Implementation Proposal on: January 26, 2020, 10:16:20 PM
You proposal is interesting, but who is going to monitor, select and enforce it ?
It sounds like a hell of work for moderator (they are already super busy !!) or some kind of special task force.

What about something automated ? A lottery  with "sent smerit" condition of entry ?

Imagine the following :
User A  earns 50 merit in a 30 rolling days (25 smerit).
If in the same rolling period he has sent >90% of smerit then he is eligible to get some extra smerit the next time he is meriting someone.

So userA earn 50 merits (25 smerits),
Once he has sent 20 of that smerit, he goes into a lottery.
Once in the lottery if he sends smerit he has a lottery ticket. (1 smerit sent = 1 ticket if 5 smerits then tickets)
 winnings could be :  1 smerit (1/10 odds)  / 2smerits (1/20 odds)  / 5smerits (1/50)  and  10 extra smerits with 1/100 odds.
If he wins some free smerit, They wont allow him to enter the lottery.
You only get smerit lottery tickets based on the smerit you send from the stack you have earned (not airdropped/won at lottery).

This will do 2 things: make smerit being used instead of hoarded.
Increase by a little the amount of smerit in circulation.

This is just a reflection, in my opinion, the system isn't broken, so why changing it ?

So yes it is a catchy title  Grin

Let me tell you my feedback on using my memory and using hardware (hardwallet, or mobile phone).

The keyword of my story is to have redundancy, why is that? because like everything in life one must always have a backup plan.

Story 1 : Brain / memory
So, before xmas my wife and I went on a holiday. Because we have a dog we took the habit to get a house/dog sitter while we are away.
Pro : the dog stays home instead of a kennel, dogs goes to the same park and same walking tracks. House is not empty.
Cons: have to do interview, have to put all jewelry in the safe, have to have a camera in our bedroom to check no intrustion...

Anyway, we found the perfect dog sitter.
I tuck all the pricey stuff on the safe, install a couple of camera in the room to check if someone opens the door and see what they may do.
I decided not to take my Ledger S with me on that holiday because we decided to go to 2 countries that are not super safe.
Just in case someone was going to break in, I decided to NOT put my ledger in the safe, but to HIDE it in my bedroom.
I hid it so well that 4 weeks later I am still looking for it (MASSIVE FACEPALM !!!!)

My memory failed me !! I Legit have looked everywhere, I can't find it.
No one has entered the room, it has to be in the room, I just don't remember where.

This is where the contingency plan goes into action.
It turns out I have the seed somewhere safe (bank deposit, not in the same city).
I just need to go fetch it and insert my 24 words in a new device.
The reason the seed is not at my house is due to the fear of a fire. Or in the event of a burglary, they might take it.
Conclusion : don't believe you will remeber everything, have a back up plan.

Story 2 : hardwallet / hardware / mobile phone

This is another story, I'm roughly 33. I've had a mobile phone since I was 14 years old.
In almost 20 years i have NEVER broken or lost a phone!
Back in 2017, there was the GByteball airdrop. And it was very easy to do on a smartphone (easier than computer).
I did it while I was on holiday with my family.
Because it was just for 1 week, I didn't bother saving the seed on paper.
I told myself I would do it once I am back home and that everything will be fine.
Well, it didn't, I decided to take a photo of my family swimming. I had water to my knees and my phone fell in the water.
Instant death, lost 5 GBYTE lesson learned.
Never trust that your mobile phone will last forever.
Fortunately, I had 2 phones, and all my 2FA were on both phones.
Same as my password manager and all my photos and date.
Redundancy!

So, in my first story, I haven't lost anything, in the second one I've lost free coins.

What I would like to tell to beginners and also to more experienced users is to have backup, contingency and always keep in mind that things can go unexpected.

I'll drop here a few questions to help you think about your own strategy.

1) what happens if you lose your phone? (2FA? emails access? wallets on the phone ?)
2) what happens if your ledger or trezor is broken/stolen / or reset by someone that uses 3 wrong pin
3) what happens if your house catch fire while you are away. Are you losing both your hardware and back up seed?  what about computer and USB back-up?
4) what happens if you have an accident and end up in a coma. Who can access your coins? How would they know where to look? Did you leave enough explanation so your next of kin can enjoy your coins? Life can end abruptly.

Sinon 'The Irishman', tu dois avoir vu !??

Non, pas encore.
Je me tate, 3h c'est long.

https://www.ncronline.org/news/opinion/netflix-messiah-series-provocative-worthwhile-even-non-religious

T'as un contact à donner ?

My road to Full member, Sr Member etc...".

Pareil, je ne dis pas mieux !!

1136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The harmful side of quick merit earn method. on: January 23, 2020, 09:19:21 PM
~snip~

Oh do not show off here, please. More than half of your merits were given by the same member Halab, it more smells like cheating rather than clear game.
Maybe I am wrong and I even hope for that, but I do not believe that it is possible to earn merits just by making jokes and answering questions. In this case everybody would take merits easily.
I think to earn merits you need to spend like minimum 15 mins to write a comment, to it would be long and maximum informative. Add to that I noticed that posts with pictures and graphics earn merits in the most of cases.

Hey dude, why are you so salty ?
Yes you are wrong, Halab is the only merit source the french board has.
He is always fair and only give merit to people and post that deserve them, even he disagree with the people or the content.
I've been there 6 years + and he is the most respectable mod we had.

But maybe you are salty because you only earned 2 merit in more than 4 months !
And even your 2 merits were "begging" in a giveaway board.

You don't  need a 15min post to earn merit, you need usefull information, constructive argumentation.
Sometime one or 2 lines can be enough.

It appears that I haven't been ruled out (yet) but I remember seeing very very good contenders still in the game for this last spot.
Good luck to all and may the best member win.
